Causes and solution for doctor Shortages.

Preface:

'The sustainability of Healthcare' is always an important topic as it is applicable at all times and for all ages. My ambition is to become a Doctor. There are stereotypes revolving around the process of becoming Doctors:

"Becoming a Doctor is more difficult than Being a Doctor",

"More money is needed to become a Doctor than more marks",

“As Doctors spend a lot of money to study, they expect a lot of money to balance what they have spent as an investment”.

Doctor shortages:

  • As per source from “The Economic Times” 80% of the Doctors are available in Urban areas and only 20% are available in Rural areas.

Poverty – A Big puller:

  • Poor gets poorer and rich gets richer. With that being said, poor children are unable to crack through NEET exam due to lack of coaching and expensive studies.

My View on NEET Examination:

  • NEET need not be cancelled but equal opportunity has to be given to all the aspiring students and coaching has to be provided to pursue medicine irrespective of their family situation.

NEET is a controller which stops rich people to become a Doctor without knowledge.

Mindset or approach towards NEET results:

  • If students fail to clear the exam, they think their image or self-dignity is blown, hence they are taking extreme negative steps as suicide thinking that is their end of life.

Added Pressure deviates students to take up Medicine:

  • Students have to already prepare for their XII Grade Board exams and after they come out, students have to prepare for NEET exams to onboard their dream of becoming a Doctor. This is an added pressure for students and gives tension to the Parents. Students hardly enjoy their time during these periods.

Migration:

  • Doctors had to move to other countries for Studies and for work as there is corruption seen from obtaining Medical seat until employment. To stop doctors moving away to other countries Government should provide ample facilities and take appropriate control measures.

Work-Life Balance:

  • Doctors have to provide round-the-clock service irrespective of their shifts, unlike other professions. Would you like to get burned out? So as the Doctors! Doctors should be respected equally to God.

Proposed Solution:

  • Technology – A Boom:
  • Artificial Intelligence, Automation and Robots need to be utilized in

Medical Healthcare that gives some breather to Doctor which in turn gives time and space for Doctors to spend their quality time in doing research.

Benefits of Artificial Intelligence:

  • 1.Artificial Intelligence does not require salary but would need only one-time investment.
  • 2.Doctor’s wages can be distributed as Government subsidies to poor children to study medicine which will attract young minds.
  • 3.Doctor’s Salary can be used to maintain multiple Robots
  • 4.Robots charging time is less than the Human rest time.

Conclusion : India was spending only 1% of its GDP towards Healthcare which can be drastically increased for better Healthcare, Infrastructure and sustainability.

Thus, I have presented my standpoints on the topic : “Doctor Shortages”.

    I agree with your point that "becoming a doctor is difficult than being a doctor". One family suffocate a lot in order to study their son or daughter in medical sector. Due to the money,many people should sacrifice their ambition also.
