Doctor shortages are now spread across the world. Why is it happening? What do the doctors want?
Hospitals are understaffed as doctors require a higher salary. Doctors deserve the money, as there is an impossible amount of training that goes into being a doctor, many hours that go into the work and stressful work conditions put additional pressures onto staff. Furthermore, doctors sometimes have to work late to ease the workload they have, but then are too tired to start their next work shift. Doctors have to work night and day shifts, and may sometimes be tired and unable to work properly. Moreover, being a doctor means that many people depend on the crucial choices that are made, so decisions can alter many aspects.
As a solution, the government can pay the doctors more. The money that the government receives are the taxes that are paid by citizens. The government, to get more money to pay the doctors, could tax the rich more, or raise money by creating a charity.
An additional problem is the amount of people in waiting rooms, to ease hospital waiting times, patients could find out how serious their condition is before visiting a doctor. Some illnesses might not be as harsh as they seem, and there may be remedies that do not necessarily have to be prescribed by a doctor.
If doctors do not get the salary they work for, they can go on strike, leaving many people without medical care, some with severe illnesses and conditions. Some people may be suffering from long-term or terminal medical problems, and they may need regular checkups to make sure that they are healthy. Without the doctors to give checkups, patients may get worse than they already are. If doctors were to get the pay they are asking for, then the hard work they do, like studying longer, working longer, helping many people while risking their lives, and so many more, they may go back to work.
