I believe that the global shortage of doctors is due to exhaustion, fatigue, and dissatisfaction with their job status and wages, in addition to their lack of appreciation from governments, and the reluctance of many to join the field of medicine due to its difficulty and cruelty. Very interesting point, which made me think even more, and I would say that being a doctor should be related to the salary, I think there is no adequate salary for someone that save lives. 1 I think this is reason enough to immigrate, because I asked myself why do doctors travel and I think the answer would be to study abroad because they think that studying abroad is better in addition to earning money.
2 I think this may be a warning to the government because a large number of people are studying medicine and their aim is to study abroad. This reduces the population. This makes the government concerned about the small population and prefers to improve their conditions, work and study in their country.
You raise an interesting point with respect to the time it takes to become a doctor. Here in the United Kingdom, doctors train for around 7 years and then keep on training if they want to specialise in a certain field.

I completely agree with you with everything you wrote and talked about, but the phrase “psychiatry among doctors makes them more introverted” I disagree with you with this sentence because psychiatrists have a wise mindset and they are the most careful people to save their time from being wasted in useless things, as they are always preoccupied
Their patients are not introverted, but rather their hard work is what requires them to sit in a room alone in order to preserve the patient’s privacy and also to make their focus on the situation not on other things. Introversion is completely different from what I said. If they were introverts, they would not sit with the patients’ families and talk to them.

Developing countries often suffer from a shortage of doctors due to the limited number and capacity of medical schools and international migration: doctors can always earn more money and enjoy better working conditions when working in other countries. Developed countries also suffer from a shortage of doctors, especially in rural areas and other underserved areas.
I agree because...the world suffers from global doctor shortage for various reasons like emigration and change in population demography mainly. This is facts especially for rural areas and countries that are developing where the population tends to be high,and there’s already shortage of health care services that need to be professionalized. This can be solved by encouraging the international medical graduates in order for them to be recruited in the health care system.
Another reason why the world faces global doctor shortage is because in some cases,doctors are not satisfied with their salary which makes them not want to work because they’re not being paid enough. Doctors save peoples lives when they’re in need so they shouldn’t face this problem in the work place. Ministry of Health should find a way to do a way with this problem because if they do not,it will cause them (the doctors) to resign.

This is because most doctors would want to work in high class hospitals which are found in the city/urban areas. Because of this problem, the hospitals in rural areas are left with unprofessional doctors because all of the graduates will want to work in the urban areas and not the rural areas. Another reason is because the doctors might feel like there might not be good job opportunities in the rural areas like the way the job opportunities in urban areas are high and available. The salary that they pay doctors in rural areas might be less than salary that they pay in urban areas

I agree because from my view doctors vacate from my country to go to other countries in order to get better payment, good living and very high level of education.
But the number of graduates of the Faculty of Medicine is many, and most of them sit at home. If the Ministry of Health took advantage of employing some of them, or helping them build private clinics for them, in order to have a balance in health care for us..
In my point of view, Doctors are candles which burning to illuminate and give life to some patients , because of the difficulties which doctors face in the life there's a shortage in doctors, for example,the long continuous period of time they work in the day so they feel that they can't spend a lot of time with their families, I think they work under high pressure on their health because of accuracy in their work so they must have the highest salary in the country to encourage the youth to specialize in the medicine inspite of it's difficulty.

Doctors have an important role our live . There are many reasons for lack of doctors, including
1- Large numbers of doctors working in the Ministry of Health leaked .
2- The numbre of doctors immigration directly abroad especially to Britain and Europe has increased .
3- Poor income of juniors doctors poor distribution of doctors at the state level, poor work environment in government hospitals and willingness to hold doctors accountable, all of which are factors that expel doctors.

I totally agree with you, people should learn to rely on themselves for their health instead of doctors and medicines, if we just spend some of our time exercising and doing yoga in a day, we can get away from many diseases. Every organization should promote yoga and exercising to their employees or students by making them do exercises and yoga everyday.

I agree with you spirited_snow because doctors actually face a lot like frustration, stress and insufficient pay. We can help in solving doctor shortage by taking good precautions like washing our hands before we eat because if we do not we would risk taking in germs into our bodies without knowing. We should also try to maintain a proper diet by abstaining from excess fatty food or harmful food, keeping our environment clean because a dirty environment causes us to fall ill. Doctor shortage is a problem that can be solved when we work together by doing the right thing and decide that we can put an end to the problem.
I think that there may be doctor shortages because they were told they would be given a pay rise, but they were not all given the money. (My mother is a doctor) So, they may resign and go somewhere else because of this. Also, because of the cost of living crisis, the government may not be able to pay the doctors, or pay for their equipment. In the doctor shortages, it may cause doctors to work longer hours because there are not enough other docotrs to do the shift. This is energy sapping and tiring, making the docor more likely to make mistakes.
Even if the government did make the taxes go up, it would not generally help. If would be unfair to say to everyone else that the doctors were exempt to this. On the whole, the government should really think how they spend their money so that when they say they will give a pay rise, they will do it.

I think partly, it depends. If the doctors are paid good money, than more people will actually want to be a doctor, meaning less shortages. Still, that could potentially mean shortages in another job. Because doctors may want more pay, they may move to other countries, like America or Canada, where health is not free, ut the doctors get lots of money.
I just wanted to add another reason for doctor shortages: It takes a long time to train a docor. IF people want to make a change, than they have to plan ahead. Also, more doctors are leaving the job, than the amount of docotrs being trained. People cannot have a job and suddenly want to be a doctor, because of the amount of training and skill it takes to be in healthcare.

I think that it could be helpful if the doctors training took a shorter time. However most things are crucial to know, so by shortening the training time, a doctors knowledge is limited. Maybe, once technology is even more advanced than how it is now, it could take a shorter time. But as I said in my previous comment, changes take time, you have to be futuristic when you plan to do things.
To stop the bleeding of doctors from my point of view: It is possible to work on increasing doctors’ wages to match the requirements of a decent life, adopting a single training program for all doctors that is supervised by an independent body, and for each graduate to have a place for general and specialized training according to international rules, in addition to improving the work environment by protecting doctors with a fair law to practice the profession, and providing medicines and supplies And devices that guarantee the provision of reasonable medical service, and this will not be achieved without increasing the budget of the Ministry of Health and Population. I think illuminated_chameleon is trying to say that doctors get too exhausted handling the many patients that tho to the day in day out 24/7. Sometimes this too much exhaustion makes doctors to develop some kind of stress and they sometimes get tired if working so they begin ghost working but this is also caused by other pressure factors like low pay,lack of resting and family time and even some times disappointments like failing to save someone's life of making a mistaking costing a patient's life may cause doctors to get tired of their jobs hence doctors shortages. Otherwise, doctors also need time off their jobs because even in class we say "Work without play makes Jack a dull boy." So too much work without rest leads to doctor shortages and it comes back to us to take responsibility of our bodies and engaging in health practices like regular jogging and eating vegetables so as to reduce the doctors work because even in class we say "An 🍎apple a day, keeps the doctor away."

Well,first if all in different light these doctors do it do to low pay whereby they cannot sustain their livelihoods with the money they get and so they opt for other countries that are able to pay them enough.Others doctors for example in my country choose to uprise and demonstrate plus refusing to go to work and they do all this trying to pass on their grievance of low pay and demanding pay raise e.g in "Kampala 6/Nov/2017 doctors went on strike to protest low salaries and shortages of essential supplies" So at some point I would blame a doctor who has a family to take care of in terms of needs like food,shelter and health for going to other countries where he can earn more to take care of his family.
On the other hand,there is actually a big danger in the occurrence of the doctors going to other countries for example the countries loses skilled personnel that help in handling situations of pandemics like Covid-19 and Ebola whereby in such situations,the countries needs such people to help with the infected people and one of the causes of many deaths in pandemic situations are doctor shortages for example few skilled doctors at health centers causing the ones available to get over worked and as result,many die cause those few can't concentrate well on each patient.In another occurrence,the government loses a lot of money since most doctors for example in my country Uganda are sponsored during their studies but then they end up leaving before even serving so here the government's investments go to waste.In other cases,these doctors that go to other countries may even fail to invest home so the government won't benefit in terms of revenue. It also leads to shortage of manpower when you look at regional hospitals you may the that in a region there are over 15 hospitals but with few experts like one surgeon working at more than five hospitals and sometimes delay in handling patients in situations where the only doctor that can help is late or is coming from far.In other unfortunate cases these doctors for example black doctors may die due to the harsh treatment associated with racism and other things so when they die,their native relatives may lose the people that have been supporting them financially and so they are left hopeless with no one to fend for them in regards to finance so they begin begging for government hand and in worse cases some may turn into street beggars and street children something that affects the country negatively for instance there could be increased crime rate.

Well, there are many causes, but a very important cause is being paid less than a doctor deserves. We can not just underpay the doctors, and then have so big expectations of them. All the doctors do so much work. They don't get to spend enough time with their family, and sometimes don't even sleep long enough, because they have to go to work at night. Also, medical school is so expensive and hard, that most of the people trying to become a doctor give up. Doctors save peoples lives all the time, they realy deserve more. What we can do is start speaking out for doctors. We all start protesting when it comes to some unfair things in our personal life, but just closing our eyes when it happens to others. Let's start being united and give the doctors what they deserve, before most of them just give up, and find some other well paid jobs. We can not actually live without doctors.
I agree with you. Along with that, the occupation of doctors is considered one of the most stressful jobs in the world, and they spend most of their young lives studying hard hoping that after they receive a good degree their lives would be extraordinary. But little do they know that it takes another 5 stressful years to establish yourself in the medical sector, and even after that many doctors are not able to earn enough. With so many drawbacks of being a doctor, these days the youth doesn't want to become a doctor.
I agree because...I love my country but it saddens me that most of the doctors do not get paid according to there work. Must schools do not even have medicine, and even if you have the resources to go to school at the end of the day there are chances that you may not get a job. You can go to the streets and you will find most graduates doctors and have nothing to do, infect another problem is were will they work. We have few hospitals. Some go abroad and school, but when they get back home the hospital they work in do not have the technology they worked with in school, so life becomes more difficult and some get discourage.

It also takes longer to learn how to be a doctor than other jobs. Some doctors also quit their jobs because they don't get paid enough. Also, some people go to the hospital without actually needing to go, occupying doctors and not letting them help people actually in need. In some countries, doctors are underpaid, which makes less people want to be doctors because of the hard work and small salary. In Romania, doctors and teachers are underpaid, making less poeple want these professions. Here, we could fix doctor shortages by paying doctors well, just like they deserve.

Around the world, we don’t have enough doctors because they think there is too much pressure and they are underpaid for the work they do. In my country, Romania, the healthcare system is decent, but as in other countries like Spain they are underpaid for the work they do. Also, the junior doctors quit the profession during the training because they think it is too dificult or because they dont have enough support so that is another problem . This was especially a problem during covid. I think that we should respect the doctors because they work all day and save peoples’ lives.

The cause of doctor shortage in our country is that the doctors aren't paid correctly. That's why so many doctors go to other countries to get paid more.But think about the reasons those people become doctors.They become doctors not because they want to become rich, but because they want people to live, they want to help them. Most of them are passionate of what they do. I don't say that doctors shouldn't be paid at the level of work they do. I think the government should give them bigger salary. There are so many people willing to be doctors but when they actually need to study and perform under pressure most just leave. For example in Japan one of the reasons they have doctor shortages is because patients have frequent appointments. This can also be said for my country as we are a nation of hypochondriacs. One other problem are the underpaid nurses, doctors, obstetrician, surgeons and the other heroes that save our life daily. Let's take Romania for example: Romania's healthcare is ranked last in Europe. Also this country has a big shortage of doctors. Doctor shortage is a problem in India because people want to be doctors and then they go in other countries to work.
What can we do?
We can convince them to stay at work in India because people need their help and they don't have any motive to go in other country but when coronavirus came the doctors were exhausted and they foughted to keep patients alive.

The root causes of doctor shortages around the world is due to very long period of time to pursue medicine and unsatisfactory results after the getting a job. After studying for years, people become doctors but then also they have to find jobs in a good hospital which can pay them good salaries but then also they have to practice their skills for years to get to a higher position in the hospital. Today, most of the people don't have that level of patience to struggle for years and still not getting satisfactory results. Indeed, being a doctor is a noble profession but it kind of not satisfy them to live happily if they don't get constant motivation. It's very hard to for a doctor to see people suffering in front of their eyes and doctors toil hard to save their patients, if there is an emergency at 2:00 AM in the night, they will leave their sleep, family, everything just to save the person. In my opinion we have a doctor shortage because people don't want to go to school for the long time that being a doctor requires. Iam sure many people would have to be doctors but motivation isn't there for them, they'd rather take the easy way out and become a nurse or physicians assistant. Also another reason might be because college is becoming more and more un affordable. If students don't have a local college that they can can go to the price is out standing and many students don't want to go into that much debt for all degree, they will be paying student loans off for awhile and that is something most people don't want to do. It is hard enough trying to support yourself but imagine having $100,000 indept you have to pay off. I don't necessarily think we have a general doctor shortage but I do think we have a specialist shortage for the a mount of people who need to see them in America. When you go to a specialist you wait forever because they have overloaded schedules with too many patients that the realistically can't see in one day because they are the only specialist in the area.

You are not wrong but in my opinion I would say if you have passion for something the years of study would really not be a problem to you . In my country sometimes it takes more than 5 years to study medicine in some schools, due to strike and so many more but I have seen people who are determined and they make it.

For example, SAT exams are $60 in the US but it costs 65,000 nairas for the registration fee, 25,000 nairas for the rescheduling fee, and 10,000 for the score reporting charges. It is not easy for any students. Some can afford to pay others cannot and those who cannot are forced to deal with the harsh conditions following medical students in Nigeria.
The solution I can think of is for the government to take interest in giving scholarships to students because when medical students start leaving it will cause a brain drain and this will be detrimental to the economy of the nation. Ok i think that the main reason why Doctor elope to other country is because of the insufficient payment in the organisation.My aunt is a Doctor in a teaching hospital but due to low wage rate of doctor her work mate are now eloping to other country .they have requested more raise but it seems that , there orders were decline, some even got sacked due to the request . so my aunt had an oppurtunity to leave when she passed the doctor examinations . I think the reasons for the shortage of doctors are: 1- Learning medicine is expensive. 2-This profession is a matter of life or death. 3- Fear. 4- The difficulty of this profession. An year ago I had a certain inclination towards studying medicine and global health however, a certain stereotype collapsed it! In my society, I have seen many healthcare assistants and doctors and I personally consulted them but the reason to pursue medical was appalling! They elucidated how they had a great family and peer pressure to gather that ‘high reputation’ in the community and earn enough wealth to keep themselves contented. If we will compactly analyse data, we will see this issue as a major drawback for pursuing medical. Nonetheless, there are hidden gems in the world who are intrigued in pursuing there passion for medical and global science. Nevertheless, every occupation if given respect are at the same level.
From my point of view, I see that the lack of doctors is exhaustion and extreme fatigue, as they need a rest from time to time, and also the lack of appreciation of their value in society by giving them a small salary in exchange for their continuous hard and tiring work. Well, in my opinion, there are many causes of global doctor shortage, but some of the rooted causes can be said as due to overload of work, underpaid, exhaustion, fatigue, lack of appreciation, cost of study and long term of study. These causes are mostly likely to be in any country in the world. Students are thinking twice to take a step towards being a doctor.
Doctors today are unsatisfied with their job and many of them has already retired as well which is causing a serious problem about shortage. The problem is that doctors pay a lot of fees for their study but when it's time to work; they are not being paid as much as they have spent. They are not being paid according to their work. And they cannot recover their expense even after earning which has create a great problem.
Being unfairly paid is the problem that students face AFTER being a doctor, but before being a doctor or before graduating THEY should pay fees for their studies and students are taking their step back not only worrying about their salary in the future but also worrying about the fees they should pay at the present. Also the time that takes to complete their studies is too long that they feel that it is just a waste of time.
Doctors are given so much pressure during both the study and work that they feel exhausted and become forced to leave the job.
Now when there is lack of doctors and increase in number of patients; Patients are not getting enough human resources to care them which is leading to increase in number of death. This is truly a very serious topic to talk about.

I think that there is a major reason for the shortage of doctors in my country that the percentage of male doctors is higher than that of female doctors, because it is normal in my country for males to travel abroad to complete their education. i think the root cause of global doctor shortage is most developing nations often have doctor shortages because of limited numbers and capacity of medical schools and because of international migration since physicians can usually earn much more money and enjoy better working conditions in other countries, the leave their current country to another in search of greener pastures.

Trained professional doctors leave the country to work in other countries where they believe their career opportunities and pay are better. There are many reasons to which there may be a doctor shortage. In many low-income countries people cannot afford to become a doctor due to having to work from a young age in order to help financially support their families. This means they cannot gain the education they need in order to become a doctor. This removes possibility from people as they can't afford to educate themselves in that way. Further if a person from an LIC can complete their studies they typically decide to move to HICs in order to gain higher finance. This is called brain drain. This type of migration has caused doctor shortages in LICs where people health may be worse than in HICs which may lead to more death and more health issues in these countries.

I think a way to solve this would be giving young people the opportunity to go into that type of learning by financially supporting gifted children from LICs. This may be difficult as their governments may not have the finance to do so but it would create a more advanced and healthier country in the long term. Personally, i think doctor shortages in my country are because of how hard it is to get into med school, on a personal experience i have seen many people try for years and still be unable to become a doctor. Also being a doctor isn’t as easy as some people might think, because some doctors have to stay up late to tend to a patient or even they might be woken up in the middle of the night, because of an emergency. Finally, although doctors have good wages some wages may not be enough for all the hard work they are giving.
These days there is a global shortage of doctors because it is a very nerve-racking job. Doctors are admired a lot but it all comes with a sacrifice. Doctors have to work long and unpredictable hours and sometimes have to do 12 hours shift and treat patients at odd timings also. Often during emergencies, they get calls at night because of which they are not able to get enough sleep and their health is deteriorating.
It takes 14 years to become a surgeon! And another 5-6 stressful years are required to fully establish oneself in the medical sector. And the heavy student debt they have to take is another hassle because of which most of the doctors lose out on their young life studying hard rather than enjoying themselves.
Doctors faced a really hard time during the coronavirus pandemic. One example showing their hardship was the case of Mousimi Das who had to treat her own mother in her Kolkata hospital as countless patients including a colleague’s father died around her, she worked 48 hours in one stretch without a break!
And Mousimi Das was not alone. A dozen doctors described a nightmare scenario where they had a high-risk exposure to the virus, a never-ending flow of patients and deaths and long hours in sweat-drenched PPE kits that made even washroom breaks difficult.

How would you suggest that the government funds this? Should everyone have to pay more tax or should money be diverted from, for example, schools (or another means!)?
I think we should have seperate times for work like some doctors finish at 12 pm and some come to work at 12 pm and the people who finish at 12 will start at 8/9 am and the people who start at 12 finish at about 9/10 pm so then the doctors and nurses can have some sleep instead of working all night getting no sleep otherwise the doctors/nurses could fall asleep mid surgery.

I think that the time should be cut shorter because [My Auntie is a midwife] and gets called in at the middle of the night or in the mornings.This is not fair because she works 2 nights in a row and never gets a rest day as she is called in insantly her husband has to take care of both of my cousins loads.He is a mechanice and works full time as well so sometimes my gran has to look after them as my mum is a care worker for the NHS and my dad is a police officer and works 5 days in a row and goes away for sevral weeks in a row as this not fair for my mum to look after me and my two siblings while my dad is trying to earn the money for the house and to feed all us 5 [6 including my dog]My mum has to work aswell so it not fair for everyone to be working all the time as most of my family works for the NHS and no one can look after us as we can not afford a baby sitter or childmider.

I believe that doctor shortages are due to the fact that they dint only just have to deal with 7 YEARS of university, which most people cant afford due to the amount and time, but don't get payed enough after! some people even pay for the appointment and don't present which is a waste of time
At the beginning of my education, I dreamed of studying medicine, and now I am asking about the reason for the world’s refusal to learn medicine, and what I think is that there are several reasons, including:
1 The length of the study period
2 The high cost of education, which led to people turning away from studying medicine
3 And it is the most important reason that we must talk about, that we give the doctors less than they deserve, and less than the effort they put in, then we have high expectations from them, and we have to give the doctors more than that, because they only sit with their families a little, and they only sleep at night A little, because they are forced to go to work, and from here people who dreamed of studying medicine surrender to this reality. Doctors really deserve more, more, because they save people's lives, day or night in peace and war.
To me the lack of doctors can start right from the universities. In nigeria there are a lot of universities which their cut off mark for medicine is very high, some schools cut off mark can be 250 and for example you got 240, considering the fact that you were not up to 250 they can decide to give you nursing to study instead. And this reason can contribute to the shortage of doctors.
While growing up as a little child I wanted to be a medical personnel but I didn't no in which sector I wanted to go to yet, but as I grew older with the desire to be a doctor but when I was meant to pick if I was to go to the science class or the art class ,I was instructed by my parent to go to the art class so study Business Administration in higher institution, my parent said the where not in support of me studying Medicine in their own words I will study it but when I graduate I will be moving on the street in search for a job. From my experience a cause of global doctor shortage can start from the belief of the parent, because the parent are the ones how pay for the education so the are the ones how have the final say on what the child will study. 🥺 By this time next year I should be in my first year in university studying Business Administration.
The root causes of the shortage of doctors are: the difficulty of the profession, the difficulty of studying, and pressure on them during study. If we come to reality, medicine is one of the most difficult studies in the world, as they study for 7 years. Also, the income rate, although the doctors are tired and exhausted, but they take a small salary, and this is the case in my country. Also, if we come to reality, we see that most doctors are reckless about the situation because of the pressure on them.
I think during the pandemic doctors found it hard to keep working when there were so many people getting ill .They also didn't like that they had to stay so late in the night and start so early in the morning. I think that they should get more money for what they do around in the hospital and get more credit.

This is an interesting take. One of the problems caused by a shortage of doctors is them moving to richer countries where they can earn more. That is perfectly rational, but it leaves poorer countries worse off.

I will tell you my opinion about the shortage of doctors. It is a problem all over the world, and it is a problem that is difficult to get rid of. But if we cooperate in increasing the income of doctors and not forcing them to work beyond their capacity, and we love them at work, then no doctor will be lacking Also, one of the factors in the shortage of doctors around the world is the spread of the problem of gender inequality, which is the refusal of parents to educate girls in order for them to get what they want from the professions, and they say that girls should not work. Global shortage of doctors and medical professionals has been lately seen as a critical problem worldwide. It has led to a serious imbalance of healthcare provisions facilitated across different countries. In my opinion, some of the major reasons, which I have personally seen in my close family relatives are as follows:
1. It takes a very long time & huge investment first to secure a medical degree and then to train one as a doctor, before he/she can actually start earning as medical practitioner. So clearly there is no balanced trade off between the time and effort spent Vs earnings . Additionally, it is very expensive to start off a doctor's clinic on their own - it needs huge infrastructure and other investments.
2. Medical practise is very stressful- a doctor cannot really afford to mis-diagnose. Patient, nowadays are pretty savvy due to social media channels and hence often play defensive diagnosis proactively, hence defending their cases and often filing letigations against doctors to challenge their diagnosis. Hence, as evident across my family relatives, majority of the doctor parents are not longer encouraging their children to become doctors or choose this as a profession
3. Disturbed Work life balance and moral responsibility to support patients 24 X 7 , is yet another reason leading to make this profession not longer a choice for upcoming student learners.
4. At least in India, there has been increasing incidents of voilence against doctors for any unprecendented medical complications that their diagnosis unattentionally causes.
5. Commercization of medical profession , making it hard for new candidates to onboard this . Care for the people has gone past , this is often not seen as a noble profession anymore , since the outreach of best of medical facilities to rich and wealthy communities.
6. Last but not the least, there is no job even after a simple MBBS degree, spending years of education. Most of the MBBS grads still have to go for post grad education and specialist degrees and hence a doctor is often half in grave by the time they start earning actually.
I think the high fees for educating medicine in the existanse with the bad circumstances in our country is one of the main circumstances which leads to the shortage of learning medicine and therefore the the shortage of the workers in the field of medicine in our country.
Some of the reasons for doctor shortage are low health care spending causes doctor shortages thus health care hospitals suffer from lack of staffs and poor infrastructure facilities and there is shift in patients and doctors population and then absence of physicians in rural hospitals,It's a tough job to convince a young doctor to move to a region with few other young professionals or opportunities.
High debt contributes to doctors shortages in rural and backward areas.
There is plethora of reasons as to why there's a shortage of doctors in this generation.
Now, i would like to hint some of the points we discussed in our classroom session on this topic.
1) Fear of failure
One of the main reasons why many students fail to do medicine is because they think medicine is too hard than the work they'll be doing after they actually become a doctor. Not only the syllabus is vast, but even the rigorous examination procedure is exhausting. For instance, in my country, we have an entrance exam called NEET to get into a good medical college. But the difficulty faced here is that many students fail to clear the exam properly and in-turn they aren't able to achieve what they want.
And clearing the entrance exam NEET calls for rigorous preparation. Which means we have to prepare for our government conducted public examination at the end of Grade 12 and then this. Our country is not that rich that everyone can afford to pay for the tuition fees or the training institute fees, which is humongous.
Honestly speaking, just the phrase "medical school" sends shivers down many youngsters, including me.
2) Post-work stress
All of us have a vague idea about how a doctor's job is stressful and exhausting. Majority of the doctors I know work almost 15 hours a day. Sometimes, they even get called to hospitals during the times of emergencies, and these not necessarily be during their time of work. It may be during midnight, early morning, or whenever. Many doctors give up on their job because of the amount of pressure it carries.
3) Lack of investment
Some countries fail to give a good amount of importance in the health sector. Again, my country, India spends only about one percentage of their total GDP on healthcare. This affects the quality of the services provided. The government hospitals aren't in good condition, there's a lack of medical staff, and there aren't many educational institutions for medicine. The same reason leads to another one - many medical graduates, go to other countries for their higher education since they can't find what they actually need in their home country. This again, contributes to why there's a shortage of doctors.
4) Covid Pandemic
The covid pandemic has adversely affected the medical industry. There was a sudden deterioration in the revenues and employment of medical staff. Although, it is in the recovery stage, it really isn't up to the mark. There's still paucity of doctors.
What do you think countries could do to better support more doctors to enter and stay in this demanding profession?
1. Countries first should start more medical schools and increase the intake
2. Doctors should not work more than 8 hours.
3. Better pay scale
4. Immigration policy to support the doctors who intend to migrate to other countries.
5. More awareness about allied medical sciences like cardiac care, respiratory, renal dialysis, perfusion, anesthesia technology, is required. So that those who could not get into Med school yet may have the capability and passion for med school, can join such courses and be of help to the doctors in trauma care.
6. Making Med school affordable for those who are academically strong and passionate about joining Med school.
7. A month-long vacation per year with pay.
8. Better comfort and privilege for those who opt to serve people in remotest villages.
These are few things which I could think of.
The problem of lack of doctors is due to many problems, including the long period of study, the high cost, and the psychological pressure that afflicts the learner, instead of the fact that some countries do not have universities to teach the profession, and it is necessary to travel abroad, instead of the practitioner receiving many problems such as low wages, high pressure, and others at the expense of the person So he takes refugeStudents to practice another profession or enter the medical field, but within a simple work such as a pharmacIn my opinion, 1. Universities should be provided to teach this profession. The medical profession is not like building houses and other things, but rather to build hope for life.

3) Knowledgeable doctors are moving abroad to make their income better and to make their living standard better. They are not thinking about the country where they were trained.
4) Increased disease lead to increased patients which results in the shortage of doctors.
5) Doctors are working 24/7 it leads to work pressure, it makes them to retire from their profession before their retirement age.
How can we avoid shortage?
*Provide scholarship for talented students.
*The country has to increase the number of seats for medical students and increase in medical collages.
*Reduction in payment for education.
*Study period has to be reduced.

Why there is a shortage of doctors? There are many causes.
1. The students who want to become doctors move to foreign countries to get education and they did not want to return back to home country. This is because the population in our country is very more and the chances of getting an admission in medical college will be more difficult as the number of medical college seats are limited.
2. The wages of the doctors should be increased as per certain criteria. For example if a person is working as a doctor for more than certain years, he should be given some increase in wages (or) salary. The doctors work for 24/7 to feed for his family but no increase in the salary will make them to opt for a different profession.
3. It is not only about doctors but also nurses. The nurses also play a vital role in hospitals. The doctors just give treatment to the patients but it is the nurses who give extra care for recovery of the patients. When there is a shortage of doctors, there is a parallel decrease in the number of nurses.
4. Shortage of Hospitals in rural areas. The rural people who want to get medical treatment from doctors they have to travel approximately 20 to 30 kilometres to go to hospital. The doctors are not interested to work in rural areas for many reasons such as low income, improper transport facilities, unpredictable weather conditions, negligence, etc.
5. The doctors work for 24 hours without any rest to saves the lives of many patients. But they did not have any time to speak to their family members. Because of this they have physical stress and mental stress and they are affected by many health problems. As a result of this, some doctors had even died and many of them retired early from their profession.
These are some of the common causes of doctor shortage in the world. I think that the government has to solve this problem. They must be given some remedial measures like
Free medical education to poor students, creating qualified doctors in our country and the world, setup of new hospitals in rural and remote areas, shift based work, etc.
Once upon a time there is an abundance of doctors in the world.But now there is shortage of doctors. There are many reasons for this but some of root causes are:
• They are shortage of doctors in rural areas because many doctors want to live in urban areas with facilities.
• And some are moving to other countries for their better life styles.

My views on Doctor Shortages:
In India, If anyone wants to become a Doctor, we have to clear NEET Exam. There are many stereo types revolving in our country, which makes every student think, Medical is tough to study. Approximately 21.9% are below Poverty line. So, Talented children who have dream and ability to become Doctor are not able to study Medical because of Poverty. Hence India is losing Talented students in this field due to financial problem and family situation. As per Article, Indian Government is spending only 1% in Medical sciences. As there is corruption and lot of donation required in Indian colleges, students are preferring foreign colleges to study Medical and wanted to get settled there after studies. Hence the service is possibly rendered to other countries instead of our country.
I am thinking, "Being a Doctor is not as difficult as becoming a Doctor".
There a no equal opportunities in education to become Doctor as only who has money goes for NEET coaching. Only who are rich is able to afford to study medicine and after spending a lot of money for studies, the new Doctors wanted to earn the money being spent, hence they tend to become money minded. Ofcourse, not all Doctors fall under this category as we see Doctors doing service for the poor but majority of the treatment starts only after money is paid,

Automatic Robots should be in place to treat patients wherever it is possible so that Doctors have ample quality time to review or spend time in research,

Both at the workplace and while pursuing medicine,a person who is a doctor or aspiring to become a doctor goes through a tough time.Medicine is one of the toughest stream to pursue which requires hard work, perseverance and sacrifices.Even after going through so much and becoming a doctor,he/she has to toil hard and sacrifice his own time and his family time to serve and save lives.Doctor is one of those professions where time isn't a factor.He/she goes through so much of stress and hard times due to their sacrifices.
I feel that this chain of factors which causes doctor shortages can be avoided with lots of investment in the field of medicine.Government should increase the number of colleges and seats available to students to enable them to pursue this field.It should also provide doctors with more rewards and remuneration which would serve as a motivation and would be like a call to many others to take up this field.
I think that there may be doctor shortages because they were told they would be given a pay rise, but they were not all given the money. because of the cost of living crisis, the government may not be able to pay the doctors, or pay for their equipment. In the doctor shortages, it may cause doctors to work longer hours because there are not enough other docotrs to do the shift. This is energy sapping and tiring, making the docor more likely to make mistakes.
Even if the government did make the taxes go up, it would not generally help. If would be unfair to say to everyone else that the doctors were exempt to this. On the whole, the government should really think how they spend their money so that when they say they will give a pay rise, they will do it.
I believe that what cause shortage of the medical workforce is the fact the most people get discouraged from being medical practioners right from their young age. And also the fact that there are not enough lecturers to teach the course.

There are many psychological features that also affect the doctor shortage and not just physiological. For example, anxiety can be a leading factor o the doctor shortage. many people may worry about what they are doing as it can harm another person. To be a doctor you have to be confident in your ability, so they have to possess a high internal locus of control. If they do not have this, then they will have lower self-confidence and will be doubtful in their abilities. This we cause many people not to take the path of becoming a doctor as they believe they are incapable. There's no way to solve this as it is dependent on the individual however there is a way in which to make people gain some confidence towards themselves by allowing more help in education. this will create a better learning environment and create confidence within students.
A physiological factor may also be exhaustion. Doctors on average work between 60-80 hours a week in demanding positions, this can cause not only stress but exhaustion. Working for long periods in such stressful environments can both physically and mentally drain a person. Therefore, many doctors are quitting their jobs in order to lead a more stress-free life and many students question their decisions in going into the medical field as the negative connotations around the job can be off-putting.
In order to solve this, I believe doctors should be provided with more well-being resources to create a healthy work environment.

I think in my country the reason of shortage of female doctors is the stereo type nature of society. The females who are passionate to become doctors are discouraged due to hectic routine which later i.e. after marriage cause them to leave the profession. In this way the seats are occupied mostly by the medical students who are more likely to leave it before joining professionaly. Due to society and religious restrictions mostly females think it safe to get examined by female doctors and when they will not get the female doctors in remote areas that will cause the hazard to the health of a society as the healthy female leads to the healthy society.
For me there must be an attractive packages for female doctors should be introduced in order to attract and facilitate the female doctors and their family members to get free services in this regard. There must be free daycare services for their children.
I would like to be a doctor personally. A lot of people actually would want to be part of the medical sector in my country because most young children who are asked what they would like to be in future. Most of them normally say that they would want to be a medical doctor. But what usually discourage them from being medical doctors is that the educational sector doesn't have adequate number of lecturers to take the course. This leaves many youngsters discouraged from going to the medical sector. this reduces the possibility of the medical sector having new feathers in its wings.

i think doctor shortage's are being caused by not getting enough money so they are going on strikes.That means there is going to be less people working because they are not getting enough money.Then not every patient will get treated like they used to.The number of workers are leaving more than ever it needs to be fixed. If there is no doctors then people will be very ill without treatment.

doctor shortages are terrible because it means less treatment for sick patients. if the sick haven't got anyone to care for them then they could end up seriously ill. there are many doctors in the world but people are getting ill every minute and if doctors are going on strike they wont get the treatment they need.
Well I believe the root cause to the global shortage of doctors is one educational career how? Many doctors leave their countries to go to other countries to study and by the time they are done it is hard for them to go back to their original counties because they have already gotten employment in the counties they traveled to study .Secondly most doctors say they get little salaries in their country so they decided to travel to another counties hoping to get more money .thirdly some doctors are scared to lose patients that even when a patient dies they to quit their jobs thinking they are not good enough . Just like the other occupations,these doctors face many problems which can even lead to global doctor shortages for example the costs of medical studies in some countries is very high which leaves some of the people with dreams of being doctors optionless but to join other courses since they don't have enough funds which leaves a huge global gap of limited doctors and that is why there are doctors being imported to some countries to cover up that gap.
Also, in case of outbreaks of diseases like the COVID-19 pandemic, there might be shortage of needed equipment in some countries which might lead to spread of such diseases to the medical teams leading to shortage of doctors.
The wages of these doctors should be highly increased because of such huge roles they play for our well being and to encourage them to do their jobs well.

I believe that the doctor shortage is due to covid, during the pandemic a lot of doctors were stressed and overworked. Many doctors also have gotten ptsd or have been in despair after losing a patient, which can scare many workers away. Another reason why there is a doctor shortage is because the environment they are working in is sometimes not dependable. I think that one of the reasons why there are global doctor shortages is that people don't want to study for health because they think it's difficult to do, and they don't want to become a doctor because they will think it opens up a higher possibility to get sick. Another reason is that doctors aren't satisfied with their job, so they quit their job to find another job. Others might also think that doctors get underpaid, so that's why they don't want to be a doctor.
What are the root causes of global doctor shortages? I think the cause of doctor shortages is from money because money is very important in this world and not having it will suck for you and others also another thing is stress a lot of stress can cause death another thing is disease a doctor having to work with disease is unsafe for the doctors and it can get them infected which can lead to harm on your body or to death. What should be done about this? To do something about is to give them more money for all the work they have to do all this work risking there lives just to help us we can also give them better protection because of the crazy risk and how much danger there lives are in.
I believe there are multiple factors that are contributing to the shortages of doctors, many coming before someone is even a doctor. The first is A-Levels, you are required to take A-Level Chemistry but many more universities require other A-Levels such as Biology, Physics or Maths, this can be a problem if someone is interested in becoming a doctor but doesn't want to dedicate to these subjects at A-Level. As well as subjects many universities also require high grades which can be a problem if some can't perform as well under exam pressure. Another problem is the cost of university on average it costs £220,000 over the 5-year degree. There is also a really long period of training after graduating, it could take as long as 15 years (including 5 years at university) to become fully trained. After all of this doctors have long and stressful working days. This is why I believe there is a shortage of doctors.

one of the reasons here are doctor shortages is because of exhaustion and they have to work long hours and if there are not enough doctors to do the shift, also when they do longer hour shifts there energy will dry out and get more tired making them cause more mistakes.
Another reason there are doctor shortages is because the cost of living. The cost of living is rising and the wages are not rising either. also the government will have to pay for the equipment.
I believe there are multiple factors that are contributing to the shortages of doctors, many coming before someone is even a doctor. The first is A-Levels, you are required to take A-Level Chemistry but many more universities require other A-Levels such as Biology, Physics or Maths, this can be a problem if someone is interested in becoming a doctor but doesn't want to dedicate to these subjects at A-Level. As well as subjects many universities also require high grades which can be a problem if some can't perform as well under exam pressure. Another problem is the cost of university on average it costs £220,000 over the 5-year degree. There is also a really long period of training after graduating, it could take as long as 15 years (including 5 years at university) to become fully trained. After all of this doctors have long and stressful working days. This is why I believe there is a shortage of doctors.
I believe that the doctor shortage is due to covid, during the pandemic a lot of doctors were stressed and overworked. Many doctors also have gotten ptsd or have been in despair after losing a patient, which can scare many workers away. Another reason why there is a doctor shortage is because the environment they are working in is sometimes not dependable. Meaning the pay and environment is not always worth the stress being a doctor adds.

There are many psychological features that also affect the doctor shortage and not just physiological. For example, anxiety can be a leading factor o the doctor shortage. many people may worry about what they are doing as it can harm another person. To be a doctor you have to be confident in your ability, so they have to possess a high internal locus of control. If they do not have this, then they will have lower self-confidence and will be doubtful in their abilities. This we cause many people not to take the path of becoming a doctor as they believe they are incapable. There's no way to solve this as it is dependent on the individual however there is a way in which to make people gain some confidence towards themselves by allowing more help in education. this will create a better learning environment and create confidence within students.
A physiological factor may also be exhaustion. Doctors on average work between 60-80 hours a week in demanding positions, this can cause not only stress but exhaustion. Working for long periods in such stressful environments can both physically and mentally drain a person. Therefore, many doctors are quitting their jobs in order to lead a more stress-free life and many students question their decisions in going into the medical field as the negative connotations around the job can be off-putting.
In order to solve this, I believe doctors should be provided with more well-being resources to create a healthy work environment.
