What's on your plate? And where's it from?

Around the world, millions of people rely on foods imported (brought in) from other countries. Some countries do this to give people a better variety of foods – people enjoy tropical fruits from South America, spices from Asia and olive oil from Europe. But others do it because their country does not produce enough food for its people.

StudentHub-Topic2-SpecialTask-FoodMap@2x

In 2022, 66 countries (home to 16% of the world’s population) can’t produce enough food to be self-sufficient because they don’t have enough land or enough water. However, experts predict that by 2050, over 50% of the world’s population might rely on imported foods to survive.

  • Icon - Thumbs Up

    Positive

Importing food can be a good thing: it helps people try foods from around the world, can help countries make money and supports countries that can’t make enough food.

  • Icon - Thumbs Down

    Negative

Importing food can also cause problems: transporting food around the world is bad for the climate, and if a country has problems, it can cause people relying on food from there to go hungry.

  • How can people support their country to produce more of its food?
By increasing the plant production in his country and by enhancing production among friendly countries and also by using safe, healthy and clean techniques to produce foods and also increasing the quality of this production and its necessity in life, which leads to the demand for it at a very huge rate
It can also invest in agricultural lands and use natural, non-chemical fertilizers that cause diseases and harm people, which leads to loss of revenues to that country, as well as the cultivation of some vegetables and fruits rich in vitamins that the human body needs, through which the demand and production increase.

    1. Great perspective - you've really explored both the physical and social aspects of the question. Do you think plant production would be something you would be interested in doing?

    2. but how can people decide from themselves to increase the agricultural production to fulfill the country's needs of food and/or export them?

  • I think the importation of food should be encouraged. If we have foods like fish, soyabean, corn, rice, coffee and lots more, farmers will be able to make a source of income, traders will make a source of income which firstly will boost their net worth and the net worth of the country as a whole.

    1. What about exporting food? Do you think it would help too?

      1. Yes exporting food will also help for example canada exports food to Korea which benefits both Canada and Korea so yes exporting and importing are all crucial and benefiting to both the country and the individual.

    2. I agree because... It is a very good point . Because ,in the situation there is no consumers it affect a lot of people like farmers and people in the manufacturing companies ,and I thought it was only in my community and I Don't know that it happen in other places.

  • Well, considering there isn't much certainty about what we eat or where exactly the origin is from, I think it's safe for us to say that importing consumable goods is a no-go area.

    1. Thanks for joining the conversation, brilliant_laboratory! Can you explain what you mean by "there isn't much certainty about what we eat or where exactly the origin is from"? Do you mean that as in "people aren't sure where to find food because there isn't enough", or as in "people who import their food don't know where it comes from".

      1. My point is:
I see a pack of cookies in the supermarket, I buy it for $3 and apparently it was made in Belgium. I am not quite sure if the contents were all gotten from Belgium but what I'm expected to believe is I have a foreign product that supplies my hunger craving.
So I'm going to go with "people who import food don't know where it's coming from."

  • I think importation is a good thing to countries take for example Nigeria exports crude oil to countries that are in need of it and the countries can convert the crude oil to gasoline, diesel, fuel and so on. If there was no importation, countries that do not have these resources would have not been able to get it . And Nigeria that imports grains, refined petroleum, cars and many more would also have not been able to get these resources so I feel that importation is a good thing and it should be encouraged.

    1. On the topic of food what is your opinion on importing and exporting food?

      1. I think they both go hand in hand because exporting benefits the person importing and importing benefits the person exporting

        1. Interesting points, outstanding_reindeer. But are the benefits equal? The market price may not reflect what both sides agree is a fair price, and one party may feel less benefit than the other.

    2. Yes, import is a good thing and raises the state's revenues (its economy), so that the effort on farmers is reduced
Also, while this country cannot grow a certain plant because of its climate, soil, or many of these factors, it resorts to importing this plant, and exporting raises the country’s income and helps the country that cannot grow a specific plant like the previous one that needs it. Countries need to export and import in order for integration to occur between countries due to various factors

  • We can look at this issue with positive eyes, which is that this helps to provide foods from one country to another and to have an interesting experience of foods around the world.
But let's look with the negative eye, as this reduces the resources of the exporting country, just as when exporting resources, whether they are food or other, they can be exposed to climatic conditions that lead to damage and cannot be benefited from, neither for the exporting country nor for the recovering country

  • Yes, Claire. I think there should be rules about when countries should import and export because they are key to a nation's economic growth. For example a country should restrict exportation when a country's domestic industries are not a match for foreign industries. This will avail the opportunity for domestic industries to develop. This will to increase the country's GDP.
On the other hand importing should be restricted when it's importation levels are too high because this can induce inflation, and high interest rates. Moreover it can reduce a country's GDP and have negative effect on it's exchange rates.

  • Among the foods that are made in my country are milk, cheese, jam, biscuits and juices. Among the foods that my country imports are chocolate, canned goods, meat, tuna, rice and wheat. There should be rules for import. Including the import of things that are not available in our country so that there is no accumulation if we recover things that are in our country. We can support our country to produce more food by turning to our country's products and staying away from foreign products Encouraging the industries that serve us

    1. Well in my opinion the reason for importing some food items is to make provision of variety and to make available continental dishes. It is also meant to provide continental dishes for immigrants. When it becomes a problem is when the consumption and demand for imported food is more than that of local food( food produced by the country).

  • Well...i think importing of good should be encouraged. Well considering my country Nigeria that doesnt have many refineries need to export the crude oil we use now as petrol in our cars. If not for the exportation of the raw materials many people wouldnt have the opportunity to use cars in Nigeria. Nigeria has cocoa produce but no factory to process it into a finished good so they export it and import the finished good which is the chocolate. Without importation and exportation of goods countries that dont have efficient materials for producing finsihed goods would be backward and foreign exchange would have never existed.

    1. Do you think it would be better to have a factory so that the export step could be removed or it should be left as it is?

      1. I think it should be left the way it is. We can construct over a thousand factories but the exportation of goods will still take place. The reason is...in Nigeria the way chocolate is produced is different from how it is produced in Sweden. It all depends on choice and quality. In Nigeria we can have as many industries as we want to but what matters the most is quality if the quality is low the demand for it will drop while the demad for the imported product will be high. So i think having enough factories wont stop exportation and importation of goods.

        1. Thank you
I think that what you are saying can be solved by simple methods, perhaps if instructions are distributed to the workers in ways of dealing with Swiss machines to create Swiss chocolate, and if control is increased, the quality will improve. And the improvement in taste so that the local industry excels over the imported one, and perhaps we should educate the population about the benefits that will accrue to them once they stop buying imported products, as if you are harmed by a national product, it will be easy to report the factory and stop it and pay a fine to bear the responsibility, but if it is imported it will be The opposite, especially since the product is from outside the country, it will be difficult to compensate you.

    2. I agree Export and import are very important, as they are two reasons that led to the development of countries Countries began to export their surplus things to other countries that need them and import things that benefit from them and need them Which resulted in the occurrence of economic integration among most countries of the world

  • My answer would be: everything has its pros and cons. For example importing food: it has its pros and cons, but I say importing food is a good thing, it helps people try foods, it helps make money and it supports factories.
Imagine that you are a factory owner who makes food. Your goal will be to earn money and you want to import it to many countries, to import food, the materials to make food must be there. After making food, you want to import it from your country to another country, and then your goal is achieved. For example, Palestine exports citrus fruits and imports them to Egypt and others. This helps to earn money.

    1. @bold_apple As you have stated there are pros and cons what do you think the cons(Disadvantages)

      1. Well done for asking questions to find out more from other Topical Talkers!

      2. I like your question.
I think there are downsides to importing
        1- Climate change and damage
2- Spreading diseases, for example, “It is possible that the person who imports food is sick, like influenza and Covid 19, and these diseases spread quickly, as they can spread to one person and from one person to another. These diseases harm humans.”
        3- People's hunger
I think when food is lacking, countries that import food threaten to starve

  • The foods that can be made in my dear country and homeland are popular foods and drinks such as sandwiches and natural juices, apples, for example. Yes, there must be rules about exporting to countries, for example, there are countries that need foods that they do not have, and there must also be rules about importing to countries when we need foods that we do not have. People can support their country by intensifying agriculture and increasing the labor force, thus increasing production in the country and it can export to any country.

    1. I agree because when more work is done in improving agricultural productivity the country benefits.

    2. But what about the countries whose climate conditions are not favourable enough for agriculture?

  • In my opinion, imported food is a means of sustenance for both countries involved, that is the importer and the exporter. However, encouraging too much importation can increase the dependency a country has on another which has many disadvantages that come with it. One of these disadvantages is the question of whether a country can be on its own almost autonomously concerning food. Don't get me wrong, I am not discouraging a symbiotic relationship between two countries, but due to conspicuous reasons, such as climatic conditions that are faced when transporting food products and the unpredictability of whether or not the exporting country is able to supply the goods, I have to go with the negative on this matter because it out-weighs the positive advantages. Instead of importation, I think a country should be more bothered about improving its means of food production.

    1. Dear terrific acorn, what you said is a valid point but don't you think if we reduce importing and exporting with other others, we would not be able to get curtain things that cant be cultivated in our own country? What's your idea to comprehensiate this issue?

  • My country is Nigeria. Nigeria is noted for its ability to produce palm oil, groundnuts, and cocoa pods. We also import these as goods to other countries in need of them. I think that rules are necessary for any system to function successfully. Therefore in importing and exporting food products, proper laws are to be applied concerning the safety of the consumers' health- wise and in making sure that there is equal and fair compensation for goods that are being exported and imported concerning those who work hard to produce or make them.

    1. public safety and fair compensation: you've hit on two of the most important issues in food trade, terrific_acorn!

      1. Thank you, Jason, I felt like had to raise that matter as a concern.

    2. Do you think it is possible all over world?? And can you tell me the methods that we should be followed before importing and exporting. I am really happy that you are concerned about the costumers health.

    3. I agree because some countries can take advantage of the fact that there are no rules and import bad goods to another country or can also cheat the other country so we do need rules to guide the importing and exporting activities. And also what solution can you give to countries that do not have enough land to farm?

  • people can support their country in producing more of its own food by being industrious and creative. First, the problem has to be identified, 'I need to help my country fight hunger' one might say.' how do I do so?' Then you must begin brainstorming ideas. Whatever good idea you can come up with has to be one you can imply your skills in and thus have it become productive. Then you put together the resources and make it happen. If we all sit by and let anything happen, nothing will happen. We need to do more to make the matter of food and hunger a common goal to take care of and see to it that it becomes less of an issue.

  • My country, Palestine, Palestine is famous for its citrus and olive oil, and we purify it by exporting it to other countries, but we cannot send it every year. Everyone knows that we are on occupied country. The occupation prevents some years from exporting it. Of course, there must be laws for import and export between countries. Laws are the basis for a successful exchange free of problems and injustice. Last year, was forbidden to enter goods until after several days, and people can support their country through hard and diligent work in production.

  • Nigeria is a blessed country that has so many resources but because we are still developing its hard to industrialize and produce if we were equipped we could produce beverages because we have cocoa, we can manufacture oils because we have groundnut and sesame. We import things like wheat, sugar, milk and others we used to import rice until our government placed a ban on its importation.
I strongly agree that there should be rules guiding the importation and exportation so that it will encourage countries to produce and not always rely on others this would greatly boost their economy and provide employment especially in developing countries. Also individuals in the country should not always wait for the government to start up an enterprise instead they should make more efforts like involving themselves in farming and not leaving it to the third class individuals of the society, growing small scale green house is also helpful and purchasing goods made in their country instead of buying another would really help.

    1. I really like how you have used examples in your comment. Do you think it would be better if all countries produced their own food and resources, or is there a place for importing goods too?

      1. I disagree because to much of everything is bad and no one is an island so its best if countries have equality of both import and export so that citizens can have a variety and at the same time patronize their countries produce.

  • There are many foods that can be manufactured in my country, such as the meat products industry, the olive and fat industry, the dairy and dairy products industry, the wheat flour and grain products industry, the fodder industry, the pasta and vermicelli industry, and importing food from the rest of the countries. And it helps support countries that cannot produce enough food because of their lack of resources. One of the negatives is that food is contaminated when transporting it. Also, the issuing country may have diseases and transmit these diseases to all countries, and people can support their country to produce more by encouraging them to make more and buy from them. A lot and tell them motivating phrases to keep them going

    1. Yeah, actually but what are the rules to the negative effect, you should know that every negative act has a solution so i will like to know the rules about countries who transport contaminated food just like you have discussed.

  • The food industries occupied a very important place for the Palestinian economy
It contributed more than 24% of the value of production and about 22% of the total Palestinian exports.
Among the most important products of my country are dairy, cheese, juices, biscuits and chips.
We import chocolate, canned goods, meat, rice and others.
There must be rules for the import and export of food that must be adhered to, such as food control, to protect the local consumer and ensure his safety.
We can support our country by consuming the local product instead of the imported one and encouraging it

  • Among the foods that my country produces are dairy products, tomato paste, jam, canned goods, and olive oil, and some types of fruits, vegetables and fish that my country imports from abroad. It is forbidden to import from abroad if the local production is sufficient for the population.

    1. It's really interesting to hear that import are banned if there is enough locally. What are the benefits of this rule?

  • A: Chicken Tikka Masala. I actually thought it was made in India but no, its made in the UK. How bizarre? One of the many things the UK imports is strawberries. Due to the cold and lack of decent weather we rely on many other countries to import us strawberries during Autumn an winter because the weather get way too cold to grow strawberries. Overall Britain has horrible weather all year round to be honest.

B: I think that we should have rules to test our food before it is shipped off. It may be a lot of work but what if another country has an outbreak of diseases but still has to import our daily resources. Other countries may declare war with us and instead of cutting off our imported food they put drugs in them instead. Could you imagine how many people could due from an overdose? I think it would be extremely helpful and it may help with food poisoning in the future.

C: I could support my country by producing my own food. I may start making my own bread and sell them for significantly low costs. Or I could make make my own chips and do the same thing. I may not be making a profit but I am providing my community with food to last for ages.

Personally, I would go there and help myself but I am far too young to be doing this kind of stuff and I would be considered "impatient" among the world for not waiting to grow up. But in the eyes of others I would be considered a hero for showing my devotion to my country.

Thank you for reading this and have a great day/afternoon/evening/night. :)

    1. Thanks chatty_guineapig, I don't think we need to worry about food being drugged, but having high safety standards for food is something that lots of countries care about.

    2. Hi, when you discussed making your own bread or chips it got me thinking about making versus buying food like that. I believe today people are more focused on convenience over sustainability. Do you think we as a society have gone too far in the globalization of food (meaning the ease of accessing all produce/food any time of the year)?

    3. Hi chatty_guineapig, you've researched this very well!
Britain may not have the best weather but this does actually help in the growing of some crops, for example, carrots that only grow underground in cooler weather.
Asides from bread and chips, do you think you would like to grow any fresh foods e.g fruit and veg? Do you know of any community food projects that you find interesting?
      Have a great day.

  • What foods can be made in your country? These are dairy, tomato sauce, taboon bread, Mujadara, Mutabbaq, sesame cakes, Musakhan, Maftoul and Maqluba, which are famous throughout the world and express the Palestinian culture. Also, my country Palestine exports olive oil and olives. Among the foods that my country imports are frying oil, peanuts and cocoa pods. In my opinion, imported food is a source of livelihood for all countries. Importing and exporting and encouraging importing, but one of the disadvantages of import is the dependence of a country on another country in importing foods and others, which is the question of whether a country can be alone semi-independently with regard to food. This is due to the causes of climate changes that affect the products that are exported from one country to another, for example, when exporting fruits and vegetables, fruits and vegetables rot due to changes in climate factors. People can support her country to produce more of her food, encourage her country's products, and people's acceptance of the products.

  • What foods can be made in your country? What foods does your country import?

My country depends on its popular foods,
such as: falafel, maftoul, mansaf, and other foods that we import, for example: Wheat, rice, etc.

Should there be rules about when countries can import or export food? Why or why not?

Yes, I think so, so as not to complicate the time and delay in exporting and importing, and until there is an agreement between countries and to avoid deception.

How could people support their country to produce more of its own food?

Through advertisements on social networking sites and work on its fame through the large number of its work and sale in abundance .

  • My country Palestine is a beautiful Arab country that has characteristics that distinguish it from antiquity from some countries in that it is famous for many ancient popular foods, the experience of which is from our ancestors in the past. Children playing with each other, and among these foods is falafel, which is considered the main breakfast because it is simple to make. It is made of chickpeas, parsley, salt and other ingredients that give it the original flavor and aroma, and the Palestinian thyme that spreads throughout its wonderful smell and beautiful appearance. Also, do not forget the olive tree, which is a symbol of giving and a symbol of stability. Which our ancestors used to cultivate and take care of because it was rich in many good things, including that they extracted olive oil from it, which was put on chickpeas, thyme, beans and other popular foods. One of the things they needed, as they were making soap from olive oil in all its forms, and it was very We use it as an oil that nourishes the hair and takes care of it. Over the years, the foods that our ancestors were famous for have been traded to become famous foods among the world with taste and deliciousness, and this is a symbol of the bounties of Palestine. ♥

  • The olive tree is one of the evergreen oily tree plants, and the olive tree has many economic and environmental benefits that made it a great wealth. The olive tree is indeed blessed, as it benefits from its olives, oil, wood and leaves, and olives are excellent for eating after washing and pickling, which forms a dish on all Palestinian meals, and olive oil is one of the most luxurious oils. And drink the resulting liquid. Olive trees are abundant in my Palestinian country because of their moderate climate and the fertility of their land, and there are large, vast areas planted there, and in the olive season, those who have a lot of lands planted with olives need workers to pick them, and thus the olive tree is a reason to reduce unemployment, and we are now in the olive season, the whole family participates and friends in the olive picking, and we are overwhelmed by the atmosphere of happiness mixed with the heritage spirit, and the olive picking season is a feast in which all members of the Palestinian family participate, from the elder who inherited the land, to their youngest who moves among the olive trees. The school olive picking, and the atmosphere of cooperation was very high, accompanied by happiness and joy, and the people of the village next to our school helped us in picking the olives, who were happy that the girls of Palestine are interested in participating in the olive season, and after the olive harvest ended, the school squeezed the olives and used the money and distributed it to the students in need to buy Clothes for the coming winter, and the goal of our participation in olive picking at the school is to instill the values of cooperation, love of volunteer work and patriotism And the land with the olive tree is a symbol of the steadfastness of the Palestinian people. Currently, my school is preparing an exhibition of the blessed olive tree. I participated in the exhibition, and I brought olive branches from our land to the school exhibition, and some students participated in antiques made from the olive tree.
Forgive me for speaking a lot, and all this does not fulfill the right of our blessed tree.

  • *Maqlooba* is a famous food in the Palestinian countries and is considered the favorite food of many people
This delicious meal, which is upside down, consists of many ingredients that give it a delicious taste and flavor, which gives it a smell that smells everywhere, and it is rice, water, flower, mixed spices, salt, onions, eggplant, potatoes, meat, ground cinnamon, bay leaf, vegetable oil, ground cardamom and curry spice.
And my grandmother told me that it was called “Eggplant” in the past, but changed its name, Salah Al-Din Al-Ayyubi from “Eggplant” to “Upside-down” because it is flipped from one tray to another tray.
And I will tell you my story with the delicious maqluba, and I will remind you that maqlouba is a method of cultural exchange and a beautiful lifestyle
When my family and I traveled, people of foreign nationality came to us, frankly, they were people of high morals and looked beautiful 💖 I loved them sincerely
I remember that it was lunch time, so my mother made a delicious maqluba, and the smell was spreading everywhere. When they tasted the delicious maqluba, they liked the food. They said to my mother, please, give us the method of this food, which you said is called maqluba. It is very delicious. So my mother gave them the maqluba method and taught them how to make it. I tell you that I love maqluba, it is very delicious and has many benefits that no one who tasted it knows.
    *Thank you*🌹

  • My country Palestine, Palestine makes a lot , from delicious foods such as falafel, maftoul, mansaf and musakhan, and we also hold a Palestinian heritage day at school, in which we present Palestinian foods, and I see on the phone many foreigners who admire our foods and say that they are more delicious than the foods in our country, so I invite you to eat it because you will definitely like it 😉

  • One of the most famous products that my country exports is olive oil and citrus fruits, and what it imports is sunflower oil and spices.

Like any relationship between two parties, it must have rules and limits, so the country must import more than the need of the supplying country, and this is not for the benefit of the importing country because it is not always that the excess of the need of the supplying country will be enough to satisfy its need, so I strongly encourage relying on the country itself as much It is possible and to import as much as needed and not to import the whole quantity or more, and there must be a material consideration, such as bartering, that there should be no exploitation. Goods are safe from both sides, where they do not contain diseases or toxins, and that weapons are not smuggled in, and to exploit them is the smuggling of prohibited materials

By relying on the purchase of local products, this encourages the government to multiply those factories because they bring more profit, complete the education process, open projects inside the country such as factories, focus farmers on the crops that grow abroad, and use modern means of cultivation, then governments are convinced that they are capable and They open factories and farms for the state and within its borders, which supports its economy and reduces unemployment rates, and their prices are often lower than imported ones in the markets.

  • My country is Palestine. Palestine is famous for its ability to produce vinegar of all kinds: apples, grapes, pomegranates, thyme and others. As well as the different types of oils from Palestinian olive oil, to sesame oil, nigella oil, and others, in addition to other Palestinian products related to oils, such as tahini and butter. And herbs such as thyme, chamomile and flowers. Dates and their derivatives, grapes, natural honey, milk and milk, and Palestine exports them to countries that need them. And this thing increases the interdependence between countries. And the laws are very important in the process of exporting and importing foodstuffs because they are the basis of successful and reliable work that is free from problems and deception. Therefore, consumer health laws must be applied and there should be compensation.. And profit should be shared equally between people and Finally and the most important law for me is the law of honesty and trust between two countries or people because successful trade is built on honesty

  • People can support their country to produce more food by cultivating their land with crops, for example, growing citrus, olives, fruits etc. And at harvest time, pick it up, and sell it in the markets

  • Should there be rules about when goods can be imported and exported? As per the agreed agreement, and my opinion on the matter is yes, there has to be a rule because the goods cannot be exported and imported at any time, because sometimes it does not suit the climate and the weather can be rainy. This harms the export of goods, and it may arrive damaged. Sometimes it is possible that the goods are enough in the country and do not need more of them, and this is my view on this matter.

  • Lots and lots of foods. My country, Palestine, is famous for its olive trees, many fruits and citrus fruits, and cheese cans can be made Jam, Biscuits, Juices, Tasali etcDue to the wars that befall my country, many productive projects are destroyed, so we resort to importing. We import rice. We import spices. We import wheat and othersYes, there are very important rules first, because if import from other countries stops, no country will be able to stand alone, so we must try to stay away from importing and rely on ourselves in the country and establish projects productivity Placing crops in greenhouses and encouraging and supporting national productsAnd if we want to taste foods other than those in our country, we can import, but what I want to reach is that we do not depend on imports from other countries for everything We can support our country by supporting the products it produces, establishing productive projects, taking care of crops, and preventing the import of products that have a national resemblance, consulting economic experts worldwide, and exploiting economic wealth.

  • In my country Palestine, Palestine is famous for its ability to produce olive oil, cheese and other popular foods. We also import them as goods to other countries in need. I believe that rules are necessary for any system to function successfully. Therefore, when importing and exporting food products, appropriate laws relating to the safety of consumer health should be applied and ensure that there are equal and fair compensation for the goods being exported and imported with respect to those who work hard for production. I think the import of food should be encouraged. If we have olive oil, cheese and other foods, the farmers will be able to generate a source of income. The confiscation of food will certainly help in all its forms and types. For example, in the Gaza Strip, we export fruits, vegetables and olive oil To Israel and Other Countries For the benefit of both the Gaza Strip and Israel, export and import are crucial and benefit both the state and the individual. Importing food can be a good thing: it helps people try foods from all over the world, it can help countries make money and support countries that can't produce enough food.

  • In my country Palestine (Gaza Strip) we make a lot of foods, but due to political circumstances that prevent us from exporting our food products, this in itself weakens economic participation between countries and weakens the development of capitals inside the Gaza Strip, but we did not give up, so we exported our ideas in the food industry, And the departure of a lot of chefs to Turkey and Europe and the transfer of our popular dishes, which received great acceptance, and some countries have a restaurant for Palestinian food. Here we can say that our ideas were transferred and not our commodity due to our circumstances. In need, we must get rid of export obstacles to build our economy because import and export enhance the economy and strengthen the economic participation of all parties,,

  • My country Palestine makes sugar, sweets, soft and non-invasive drinks, feed, wheat flour, grain products, milk and dairy. How can people support their country to produce more of its food? Through increased production and demand for national products and land use for agriculture and the promotion of home-grown industries

  • Hello, I am the honest cat, I live in Palestine. My country provides a good environment for business, such as factories, machinery, and others. It makes jam, biscuits, juices and more. It imports meat, canning fruits and vegetables, oils and vegetable fats, sweets, sweets, drinks and others. Yes, we must apply the laws in order for the goods to arrive safely. We must estimate the workers’ fatigue and buy food from my country, for example, I found my country’s milk and another milk for another country. I buy my country’s milk, so you will support your country.

  • My country is Palestine, It exports strawberries and guavas all over the world
Palestine imports many foodstuffs from vegetables such as (avocado, potatoes, garlic) and fruits (such as apples, pears). (It also imports soft drinks, juices, mineral water and candies......)

  • People can increase agricultural production in several ways, including:
1/ Accelerate the growth of agricultural crops through fertilizers
    2/Cultivation using greenhouses
3/ Use camp seeds (high yield)
    4/Follow the agricultural cycle system
    5/Land reclamation and cultivation
    6/ expansion of agriculture
7/The use of technology in agriculture

  • Importing food from another country has both advantages and disadvantages. The advantage is importing food is much cheaper than producing in our own country. It also enables a wider range of choice. The disadvantage is the food may lose its quality during transit in ship. Importing food from other countries make people tend to buy that and as a result the people forget their indigeneous food. Because of this, many health problems arises because the food that the other country people eat may not be suitable to eat in our climatic conditions. For example, USA people eat burgers and pizza as their routine meal. But in my country (INDIA) it is not suitable for our people and they don't prefer it. But in the case of soft drinks, our people started consuming slowly and now almost all of them in India drink soft drinks. Repeated consuming of soft drinks can result in diseases like diabetes, obesity, heart disease, cancer, liver damage, infertility and so on. The most important disadvantage is that more importing from foreign countries result in huge outflow of capital from the importing country. My point of view is being self sufficient in food production is better than importing from foreign countries. The government must encourage indigenous people and try to away from foreign products. The government must invest in agriculture activities and make the farmers to use manure and bio-fertilizers instead of chemical fertilizers to avoid health problems and create a healthy society. I am not sure whether the food on my plate is produced in India or imported from a foreign country, it is better to be self sustained in food production than depending on other countries. Depending on other countries for food makes them to be dependent on other things.

    1. You have given a strong explanation for the benefits of self-sufficiency. I'm not sure your argument about burgers and pizzas works as America can grow all the ingredients for those things! Does India also export any food or drink to other countries? What would happen if those countries stopped importing from India?

  • From my point of view, I think that import and export is a good thing for countries to which foodstuffs are exported, because sometimes there is a food crisis in a country or a country.
Also, import and export are an important element in the economic growth of any country, and it is possible (import_export) to mitigate and eliminate food crises gradually

  • 1. My country makes olive oil, dairy, cheese, grains, canned vegetables, fruits and wheat, and imports vegetable oil, some sweets, sweets and flour.
    2. Yes, to organize import and export between countries, and food needs are easily provided, and for the economy to progress in the world, and strong economic integration is easier.
    3. By supporting any local national product and producing factories in vacant lands so as not to harm the population and making many diverse foods so that we increase the national products and reduce our import from abroad and advance economically.

  • Some of the foods that can be made in my country i.e Uganda are fast foods, corn snacks, beverages, dairy products among others and yes my country imports foods like cereals, processed fruit products among others.
There should be rules about when countries can import or export food because we are seeing some foods that are being processed having low market because people want to show that they have money that can buy imported foods. This is seen in my country Uganda where buy imported foods are a bit of expensive than the locally made foods and people in my country like to show that they have money to buy imported foods leaving the locally made hanging.

  • For example for me my parents were born in Romania so many times for breakfast we either have a side of bread served with jam, butter, or both, a healthy serving of eggs, fresh veggies, and cold cuts. Mainly, for lunch we have cartofi prăjiți. For Dinner, we have lots of choices like BBQ,mashed potato and cabbage rolls and many others.I think there should not be rules about when countries import or export food because if they don't like the food in the country there going to they should have the choice to bring food with them or even if there sending it they should still have the right to do that. People can try testing making their own recipes and if they work they can start a business to sell them and if they sell a lot they might become a new food in the country.

    1. Hi ,Perceptive vegetable .
You said that there shouldn't be rules about when countries import or export food . But I don't think so . Because rules are very important . If there is no rules in a country then their the people won't be a proper guy because they would think ' There is no rules to restrict me so I can do anything ' . This attitude would lead to a conflict between two countries . So there should be rules which makes a man perfect

      1. What kinds of rules are reasonable?

  • Among the most famous products that my country exports are olive oil and citrus fruits, and what it imports is sunflower oil and spices.

Like any relationship between two parties, it must have rules and limits, and it is not always that the surplus of the supplying country is sufficient to meet its needs, so I strongly encourage to rely on the country itself as much as possible, and there must be a material return so that there is no exploitation. The goods are safe on both sides, they do not contain diseases or toxins, and weapons are not smuggled into them, and their exploitation is the smuggling of prohibited materials.

By relying on the purchase of local produce, this encourages the government to multiply those factories as they bring more profits, open enterprises within the country such as factories, focus farmers on crops grown abroad, and use modern means. Governments are convinced of their ability to open factories and farms for the state, which supports its economy and reduces unemployment, and often prices will be lower than imported

  • In my opinion it is really good to import different foods from other countries which are unavailable or less produced in your countries. I live in Pakistan and my country produce so many foods including wheat, rice, cotton, mango, dates and one of the most important fruit kinnow orange. But it doesn't mean that my country don't import foods from other countries. Pakistan is a country with a very good and fertile land and it's 70% economy depends on the agricultural production. Mostly Pakistan import different types of crude oils, packaged foods and oil from china, Saudia Arabia and United States.
[Should there be rules about when countries can import or export food? Why or why not?]
In general there is no negative impact of importing food from other countries but sometimes it may have impacts in the countries which are facing food crisis. Just like war between Russia and Ukraine, Ukraine is facing a hard time with food resources and economical crisis and in that time increasing the imports from Ukraine may help them to overcome the crisis. Just like that, Covid-19 has also create a huge loss in economy of almost every country so it will be really helpful for the countries with low economical GDP.
People of their own country can also help in the economy of the country by helping the government with agricultural production. They can peoduce food on their own by using their fertile land for the increase in economy of their country.

  • 1. My country is INDIA.India is notable for RICE.It is the largest exported agricultural product from INDIA and also sugar, spices, buffalo meat, wheat, maize, millets and pulses are exported. According to the time period and climate the crops are cultivated in India. The both food and non-food crops are made in India
    2. Yes, there should be some valid rules for both import and export. Because climate change may cause transport and cause damage to the goods from one country to another.
    3. The people can help the country by getting knowledge on cultivation and agriculture. The people can make terrace garden and use technology for selling it to others. The people should grow more trees in the society for getting rain in summer season.
    THANK YOU

  • Enough water and land can never be a barrier to cultivate locally. We have less-water, soilless cultivation developed recently. If food importing increases, we may land up having barely any exporters in the future.
My country can produce its own staple food. It does export spicesamong others and is a importer of edible oil.
Yes, there should be regulations on import and export of food in the country.
    1. Eating local and seasonal food is good for both health and environment.
    2. Self cultivation will support local communities and also strengthen the country.
    3. But, no country can be self sufficient or independent in all aspects.
    4. A country might need to import at times of crisis and ought to export for the needy.
What one as a part of this community for food could do is that one could cultivate certain plants in their gardens for self utilisation. In simple terms, "Individual mass cultivation". This could greatly contribute for the crisis.

  • We can neither entirely depend on imported foods from other countries nor foods produced within our country but a country's food exports should be greater compared to the food imports to be in a safer territory but that's possible only if the country has sufficient food for its people.
What makes a country dependent on imported foods? When a country is poor or financially unstable, the country goes for importing foods because it costs less than to produce it's own food. For example, Afghanistan cultivates less than 6% of its land area and gets most of its food from Pakistan. The other factors for a country to be dependent on imported foods are the population of that particular country and the natural conditions. Therefore some countries are forced to be dependent on imported foods which can be a threatening situation for it. Another disadvantage of imported foods is that they have chemicals added in them to prevent spoiling or ripening.

To prevent food insecurity in the near future, I think population control and environmental sustainability play a key role. The food systems carried out in various countries should be environmentally sustainable so that more food can be produced which leads to lessening of the food cost. Population control should also be maintained so that there will be a lower consumption of food which can result in more production and more trade. Producing or importing food is also time bound as people cannot stay long in starvation. I think more than 70% of the people's cooperation in countries with sufficient and more food supplies is needed to reduce and to even solve the problem of food crisis and the leaders of every nation should come together in order to solve this food crisis.

  • Our country imports lentils ,peas etc. Yeah there should be rules when countries should import or export cause if we have something insufficient we will buy something from others this is what importing simply states and if we have something in an excessive amount we will sell them with others this is what exporting states ,so my point is A country which is having sufficient amount of rice can export it to an another country which country is not having insufficient of rice and A country which is not having sufficient rice can import for the other country so it will be helpful to decrease the percentage of food crisis .If a country is not having something and there is not sufficient food they should import from other countries if they are not importing and exporting there will be a food scarcity definitely so Importing and exporting plays a vital role in food crisis .People can support to their country to produce more of it's own food by contributing more to their economy by leading a self - disciplined life .When a country's economy is stable there will be reduce in percentage of food crisis if economy is increasing then the leaders can contribute more to the welfare of people by at least donating them food .So I can conclude it with each and every individual can change or develop their own country if they do their own job properly .''Wisdom grows from the family and that the foundation of society is the disciplined individual in an orderly family ''.Thus each and every individual can contribute to get rid of food crisis not only in their country but also all over the globe

  • I like foreign food, however, I believe that locally sourced food is a better option as it is better for the economy in my country. Also the mileage on the food is lower when it is sourced locally.

  • How could people support their country to produce more of its own food?
Firstly,it is us people that are supposed to grow the food to promote food security in our country. Therefore the people should have a positive attitude towards agriculture as in , they should preserve some land just for agriculture and also be cooperative with their home governments in case they bring in any agricultural organisation or ideas or proposals like giving out free seeds , machanisation to farmers

    1. An interesting point educated_ocean. Do you think there is enough land to grow more crops where you live?

      1. Thanks a lot for the comment, well i think the land is enough just that people are ignorant about what to do with it especially in terms of agriculture whereby there is a lot of rural to urban migration leaving the land in rural areas bare and having nothing productive being done on.

    2. I agree that it is great that people help the community by growing their own food. If the government implemented a proposal to give out free seeds, what seeds do you think would be the best for people to grow?

      1. Well, all plants have seeds and the government can give out seeds like ground nut seeds, maize seeds, bean seeds, cabbage seeds, cocoa seeds among others and that is according to the climatic and soil conditions of the areas for example acidic soils or any other conditions

  • I live in Pakistan my answer is that import is not bad my country produce wheat, cotton and orange etc. Our country also import things from other countries like oil and packaged things from china and united states' and the main reason is COVID 19

  • How can people support their country to create more of its own food?

People can grow their own food in their gardens and then the people who doesn’t have a garden can get it from the shops.

    1. Well, the ones growing plants to make food from them are usually the farmers. Not all people know how to do that, or have enough time to do that. Also, the majority of people, at least in my country, live in flats, so they don't have gardens. I think we should let the farmers do their job, but at the same time not bother them. Nowadays, people consider the ones working really hard at farms some "always dirty and poor people". How can we start worrying about the global food crisis just now, when we desconsidered and underpayed all the farmers? I think that before deciding if it is better to import or export food, we should think about the people producing the food. I am not surprised how there is not so much food on earth, if we do not respect the ones working hard for us to have what to eat. If the farmers give up, who will produce our food? What if, instead of only focusing on where to get the food from, we would also focus on how the people, the farmers, are treated? Not too many people still wish to have this job, let's change that, since we still wish to have food and eat. I think this should be one of the future changes.

  • Food is a basic need of life. On other hands ' life owes to food '. It doesn't matter to eat only luxurious food ;we can live without luxurious food. Pakistan is a agricultural country it's important crops are wheat, rice and maize . These sources of food are surplus in Pakistan. Also Pakistan exports these crops . Pakistan is dependent and as well as independent in case of food. We import olive oil , palm oil and dry fruits etc . The production of food items also depend upon various climate conditions such as rain, crop diseases etc . In 2022 in Pakistan climate change results in floods which effected badly our agricultural abilities. Now we are dependent upon importing food items to fulfill needs of nutrients. Even conflicts play a great role in export and import purposes. Due to increase in population of developing countries also causes import of food. There are many problems which should be corrected to decrease food shortage such as controlling population, by eliminating poverty, making transport of substance smooth etc.

  • Importing food is an easy way to survive and fulfill our needs. Wheat, rice, maze, sugarcane, citrus fruits and vegetables are the basics of our diet of Pakistanis. We are able to get these things from our fields.
As Pakistan is an agricultural county and our 70% of our economy depends upon agriculture. We export our goods to foreign countries having Less production of these things and get a lot of profit from it.
We import most of our basics from other countries instead of using our own hoardings of food.I prefer the most to use our own food resources in a special limit. Whatever remains, we should export it to balance earnings and profits.

  • Our plate usually have BREAD,VEGETABLES, CEREALS and RICE these are our local food and most of our people relay on this food to fullfill thier hunger. These things are cultivated in our country hence they cost low price and decrease the WORLD HUNGER.But there are somethings that are not cultivated in our country like COFFEE and OLIVE OIL but these include in our daily routine,if these things will remain the part of our food they will cause the POVERTY and we know that "Poverty ultimality increase the food hunger

  • I offer like to eat simple cooked and non cooked vegetable, as well as fruits, whole grains and refined grains, pulses and sometime ,(in fact very few times) the meet including chicken and beef. I have some chickens at my home and so ,I used to manage eggs twice a week somehow. Sometimes ,when my empty pocket and authoritarian parent allow, I eat junk food such as pizza ,burger and fritties. Since Pakistan is an agricultural country ,and Sargodha is a' rural City ',most of the things I eat, come from nearby villages of my own city. However, certain fruits are imported from neighbouring cities and countries. However ,there is no problem if they come from other countries ,I just like to eat them.

    1. You have answered the question very clearly and directly, with some interesting commentary on the origins of the food.

  • All around the world millions of people rely on imported food.If a country is not able to produce something it can import from other countries.but the the balance between import and export must be maintained because it can affect the economy of a country .
My country Pakistan exports wool, rugs, textiles etc but it imports a lot then it export.we imports eggs, jams, bread, wheat and other food items . because of this my country's economy is getting worse day by day
There should be rules for import and export so that import should be less and export should higher. In my opinion we as a nation we can work firmly by forgetting our petty disputes and difference.
We should also not rely on import we should produce the products which we are importing. There should be cooperation between the government and the local people as well

  • according to me importation of foods is economically important to the countries exporting the foods for example my country Uganda exports coffee most and coffee highly contributes to its financial budget. The importing country also benefits from it because it's people get to taste different foods and it also controls the malnutrition in countries since countries can get foods it can't produce so on my side i think importation and exportation of foods helps so much on both sides.

  • Question 1. Should there be rules about when a country can import or export food.
There should definitely be some rules about when a country can import or export food . For instance can there are some countries that are currently exporting food to other countries leaving the people of their own country to starve and this all because of the selfish officials in these countries who are to greedy for money , so i greatly believe that some rules should be applied on these countries.
We also cannot forget that some are having excessive food that is not being exported but are still importing foods from other countries and the cause of such is that the people in these countries are over misusing the food that they already have hence leading them to import more food.

Question 2.how the people can support the production of food in their country?
I believe that the people of these countries can support the production of food in their countries if every person in the country can decide to set up a small garden in their home ,I am suggesting that the people can start small gardens cause nowadays most people are too busy to start let alone manage a large farm since people concentrating on technological things . So in my opinion a small garden will be easy to manage and not look like a burden to the people.

  • Firstly,it is us people that are supposed to grow the food to promote food security in our country. • As we all know "Life Owes To Food". I live in Pakistan. It is an agriculture based country. We eat food mostly which is grown here. Importing and exporting have also been a major role of our country's survival. But Floods in Pakistan this year destroyed almost half of the fields in Pakistan. We were unable to eat our own grown things. So we imported many needy basics from other countries like Iran,India,China. To do import and export, our relations must have to be good with other states. This can be a good and excellent idea for solving the upcoming worldwide food crisis

    1. Well done for bringing your experiences into your comment so that other Topical Talkers can hear about the situation in Pakistan. The floods are devastating. Have they had any other impacts on you and your classmates?

    2. I agree because... This is best way to solve upcoming food crisis

  • People can support their country to produce food in many ways but also the country has to support them like now the government should state a day where people plant crops in a month at least twice a month and people should engage themselves more in planting crops in areas with fertile soils where by they will get high yields which can be eaten, people should also plant trees which help in rain formation where the rain can water crops and get high yields, people should also avoid draining waterbodies because they also help in the rain cycle then the government should also provide seeds for planting.

  • Everybody needs food for its survival on this land. Pakistan is a agricultural country. We yield many crops. Wheat, rice, cereals and sugarcane is our major food. But due to overpopulation we also import food from other countries. Our government also play role on this issue. Natural disasters also destroy crops like earth quakes, flood .Many neighboring countries give funds which is used to meet food crisis .

  • How would people support their country to produce more of its own food?
They could make the food healthier and cleaner and by the same time make it more delicious.
For me these are the best ways to increase the food production.

    1. This is interesting and has got me thinking - what would you say are some ways that food can be made healthier, cleaner or more delicious?

      1. These are some ways for making the food healthier and cleaner.
Prevent putting chemicals to the fruits and vegetables so the fresh food and it is healthier.
Put a little amount of sugar I don’t say prevent sugar. Just put a little sugar.
And also put a few amount of salt.
This is a way to make food delicious .
Put spices and condiments to make it delicious.

  • As we all know "Life Owes To Food". I live in Pakistan. It is an agriculture based country. We eat food mostly which is grown here. • It's rice in my plate and basically I'm from the Pakistan which is agriculture based country and 70% it's GDP depends on agriculture sector. The rice which i wanna love to eat has an extra ambitious taste and it's from mine own fertile land the area in punjab province of Pakistan located on the lower belt of Gujranwala-Sheikhupora region. it's grown by me as I'm agriculture expert and all the my inputs into it which comes toward a great output to meh which is rich in with protein, contains various vitamins although with zinc and phosphorus and it smells gives you another kind of happiness and mood refreshing when it comes in front of meh after it cooked.

  • As we know food is essential for life. So we now it is from your country or foreign. I belong from Pakistan. It is based 9n agriculture. We eat mostly which is grown here. But we import somethings from other countries like Dubai,China,Iran,Saudi Arabia. From our import and export, our relations with other countries to be strong and good. It is also the solution of conflicts between the countries.

  • How people could support their country produce more of it's own? I think all those countries having fertile nd agricultural lands get benefits from it's people by growing more nd more crops . So u cant deny man power .my teachers have always encouraged the worth of man power . My country is 70 % agricultural . So exporting rice mango oranges apples has been done in past nd in my opinion our education system should b more practical to support our country .

  • There will no need for rules in importing and exporting as long as there is healthy trade between the provider and the buyer. It is very important to make sure that one country is not fully relied on other country for its subsistence. It is essential for a country to ensure its traditional diet is not offended or disturbed by the imported food. It is also necessary to check whether the imported food can be adopted by its citizens and not to retard their health. All in all imported foods are encouraged until it disturbs the healthy diet of fellow people.

  • My country is India. My country imports cereals, edible oils, spices, dairy products, vegetables and fruits. Importing and exporting food has both advantages and disadvantages. This is one of the way to have friendly relationship with neighbouring countries. When we get affected by floods, cyclones,etc.. it is the neighbouring country which imports us food. Imported food is not always healthy as it transports over a long distances and even due to climatic changes it can get spoilt. Yeah! There must be rules to export and import food. It is necessary to get the food exported or imported on time, Food items delayed in shipping can get spoilt. People should support their country to produce more of its own food. India is an agro-based country. But nowadays people are only engaged in earning salaries. In some cases, they have agricultural lands but they are constructing sites instead of growing grains,etc.. We can plant atleast one plant in one house to ensure we have enough air and food.

  • As Pakistan is an agricultural county and our 70% of our economy depends upon agriculture. We export our goods to foreign countries having Less production of these things and get a lot of profit from it.
We import most of our basics from other countries instead of using our own hoardings of food.I prefer the most to use our own food resources in a special limit. Whatever remains, we should export it to balance earnings and profits.

  • I am from India. India has attained self sufficiency after green revolution and feed most of its citizen without relying on exports from other countries. India is renowned for its spices and it is the land of agriculture which mainly exports rice, dairy products and seasonal fruits. India doesn’t depend much on other countries to fulfill its diet but mostly on other foods processed for junking and luxury. India has also helped countries in need and held out a helping hand for the countries suffering with hunger

  • I am having potato curry on plate and I know where is it from basically my country is a agricultural country which produces wheat, rice and good such as potatos and many more. Importing goods from other countries is a very amazing thing but it has many adverse effects such as climate changes due to which we are facing global food crisis. Import should be done in a accurate way such that their won't be any side effects on the world. Due to Covid-19 some countries ran out of food. For those countries who dosen't have enough food to feed the people can import necessary goods and it is benefical for them. But for other countries who have enough food to feed the people should not have to import goods as it could be dangerous for the country. The leaders should have to think about this thing as it can be helpful. But our leader don't think cause they think they are fixing but actually they are destroying their land just not to establish relation with other countries. We have fix it by giving the charge in right hand. I'm not totally belaming leaders but they should be careful for their nation. The conclusion is that importing goods from other countries can be good and bad as well, it depends on the country

    1. Thanks for your comment @logical_opportunity! Do you think there should be a framework/legislation in place which prioritizes the import food in countries that need it most? I also believe we should tackle the impact of importing on the climate and make it more sustainable.

      1. Yeah I do think that there should be laws which prioritize import of food in the countries which need it the most. I also researched a lot on this and the thing I found the most is that countries doesn't focus on these things because they think it is causing climate change and I have a solution for this.We should have to introduce electric cars and electric vehicles which have less impact on climate change. We should have to aware nations about this on a global scale and I think we can do it. It is an easy way to prioritize import of food in the countries which need it the most. We can also make it possible by making our standpoints to legalize import of food in the countries which need it the most.

  • My country is Pakistan and it also in the list of top ten producers of wheat, cotton, sugarcane, mango and orange. It exports many crops like rice, cotton, vegetables and fruits like orange. Pakistan imports many vegetables, pulses and especially wheat.
Pakistan bans the import of live animals like sheep and goat, meat and bone meal containing protein and feed ingredients from BSE affected countries.
People can support their countries by producing more of their food by capitalizing urban farming and by reducing food waste.

    1. Great insight and suggestions @amusing_goji! I was particularly intrigued by the fact that Pakistan bans import of live animals and meat from BSE affected countries. Do you know if other countries apply the same rules on imported meat and live animals?
I am also eager to find out if you have any ideas on ways we can reduce food waste as a society altogether?

  • I am having rice in my plate and I know where it is from basically. My country is an agricultural country and we export wheat and rice to other countries. It grows in many of our cities.

    1. Hi @luccky_impression. Do you also enjoy any other foods that are imported from other countries?

      1. Yes, I like to eat rice imported from neighbor country

  • In past Pakistan have about 75./. Main food crop

Now today Pakistan have 65./. Main food crop

70./. Of it's rice have been swept away during flood

3 million Livestock have died and 45./. Of agriculture land is destryed and millions of people facing food shortage

That was due to flood which is due to climatic change because glacier melts due to global warming and also human activities cause flood and destroy our food crops and agriculture land and live stock and millions of people died

    1. How are people in Pakistan coping with the impact of the floods?

      1. All our Pakistani nation gathered food cloths and many other useful things for them and got help from our government too

  • In my opinion exporting and importing is a good way to fullfil your needs. Pakistan is an agricultural country. It's major exports are wheat, rice, cotton which contributes in our economy. Whereas it's main imports are petroleum items , palm oil. Most of our import items comes from USA,Saudi Arabia and China. This make our biletral relations good
.Therefore in importing and exporting food products, proper laws are to be applied concerning the safety of the consumers' health- wise and in making sure that there is equal and fair compensation for goods that are being exported and imported concerning those who work hard to produce or make them.

  • While every nation in this world has its own food culture and history, we Indians have a penchant for thinking, we have different tastes and food varieties as favorites. After all, on every occasion in this country--religious, personal, or related to anything else we celebrate with a few dishes to cherish with.
Especially we India's diverse food culture makes every occasion even more special, because we can choose to celebrate the day with dishes from every region of the country.
We have varieties of choices we prepare and everyone should be grateful for tasting Indian Masala (spicy) at its BEST.
    • Biryani is one of the best made in this country, particularly we get the best from Hyderabad.
    • Rice dishes – Particularly in the state I belong rice dish is all about the tangy and spicy flavors that serve the best food the country offer.
    • Chettinad spices can make the world a better place, especially when cooked with chicken.

    When comes to food Import

    • Sugar and Sugar Confectioneries
    • Dried Vegetables
    • Coffee and Tea
    • Dairy Products
    • Cereals

    Reg When Import/Export

Import and Export of food grains (Wheat and Rice) and the issue of stocks under various schemes of World Food Program/ Government aid on a donation basis to other countries. Formulating guidelines/procedures to be followed in the import/export of foodgrains following policy decisions of the Government and forwarding the same to all concerned field offices for necessary compliance.

For increasing food production are Countries to support/develop agrochemical-based agriculture like Organic agriculture; and Genetically engineered crop-based agriculture.

    1. That food sounds delicious! Out of the list of imported foods that you mentioned, which do you think your country would be most affected by if the imports stopped?

  • I live in Pakistan and it is agricultural county. We have our own wheat 🌾, rice, sugarcane, maize, citrus fruits, nutritive vegetables and many more.We eat most of our own food. Whatever remains,we import it from other countries.Importing food is a simple way to fulfill remaining needs .I like to eat imported food from other countries.I like to eat imported nuggets, imported juices and imported James as well.
We are agricultural county and we can fulfill our needs but recent flood has devastated 1by3rd part of our crops. So the rate of imported things is increased. As we imported tomato and onion from India and Iran. But I like both of our food and imported food.

    1. Thank you for sharing more about how the floods in Pakistan have changed how food is imported and exported. What support do you think other countries should give your country to help it recover?

      1. As it was decided in COP26 that 190 countries will collect 100 billion US $ . This amount was decided to give those countries which are suffering climate change issues. Only 5 billion US $ are still collected. Pakistan needs 40 billion US $ for rehabilitation. I think that the decided amount should collected from these countries especially countries which are contributer in climate change activities to fulfill our loss as it is our basics right.

  • 👉🏻Import:
Pakistan is a relatively large importer of a few key agricultural products such as cotton, vegetable oil, pulses, tea, and dairy products, and a small or erratic importer of other agricultural products.

☆ How can we improve food production in our country?

Smart water management. Water is an essential need for planting crops, and by the management of water, you can enhance the production. Water management is the best way to improve production. Using the sprinkler irrigation system, you can increase the output by up to 50%.

  • I'm pakistan, more than 80 percent of crops across the country were damaged, according to government. The Singh province ,which produces a considerable share of country's food, is worst affected. Thousands of hectors of standing food crops like rice, onions, tomatoes and other vegetables have been destroyed. We could solve the issue of hunger but damaging of crops have a great affect most in poverty areas.Government of pakistan should invest some money on farmers so they can improve the crops by working on them and this may reduce the hunger and food crises.

    1. Thank you for sharing such detailed information about your own country!

  • I'm pakistan, more than 80 percent of crops across the country were damaged, according to government. The Singh province ,which produces a considerable share of country's food, is worst affected. • For the prevention of food crisis we must develop a sense for reduce or end food wastage.
As a student I think about "food crisis" then many ideas are come out from my mind whenever I go to school, on the way I saw many people who don't have money to buy food. Perhaps due to less opportunities of jobs. Our Government should be observe for the facilities of jobs. And there must be an agency in our country that provides food to the needy people under their special supervision so that no one will go to bed without taking meal.
More than 900million tonnes of food is thrown away every year, but Pakistan Government is trying for prevention of these activities. As a citizen of our country it is our duty to delve the problem of food wastage by Store and organize food , seal food properly, Donate food , plan your meal, etc

  • The major foods made in my country are matooke (cooking bananas), cassava, sweet potatoes, yams, beans, peas, and groundnuts (peanuts) to mention but a few. My country imports seafood, dairy products and honey.

I feel like there shouldn't be rules when exporting or importing food because if there were rules some countries wouldn't import or export food in fear for the punishment of breaking the rules. Plus with rules some countries won't get a chance to taste the food other countries produce.

People could share land with each other to help grow more crops.

  • My country's staple food is "matoke" which is cooked or boiled bananas with other food crops like sweet potatoes, white potatoes, yams or cassava that can be served with any soup. Soups like beans, fish, ground nut paste, peas...
Uganda imports so many foods from other countries. We import canned beans from the UK. We also import sweet corn that people buy from supermarkets and other trading systems
Yes there should be rules about when countries can import. As you mentioned the negative part of importing food "Can also cause problems: transporting food around the world is bad for the climate, and if a country has problems" countries should limit the amount they import their wanted goods
People can help fund companies to start making tinned food that will make it easier for exportation and traveling long distances

  • India is famous for spices and people in India love to eat briyani . It imports cereals , edible oils and many more and exports a large amount of rice . People can support their own country by procuring their own country's products .

  • In my country Palestine, many kinds of food items are produced and consumed locally and are not exported outside Palestine.. Such food include Jams, Honey, Dairy products, Sauce, Biscuits, ...
My country actually import a lot of foods, like Chocolates, Rice, Macaroni, Sugar, Peanuts, and Wheat... and For me I think importing and exporting goods is a two-edged sword, Some of its advantages are that its a source of food for the importing country and a source for income (money) for the exporting country. But for its disadvantages, I think it causes a lot of pollution to the waters and air because of the fuel that gets burned when the ships sail or planes fly, and also because the packaging of many of these imported items is made of plastic which end up thrown in the streets, burned, or thrown in the oceans, and all of these are big reasons of pollution.

  • As we know there are millions of people who are facing hunger crisis in the world. Due to lack of food, people have started eating insects. But some religious do not allow eating insects. I estimate that in a few years the number of insect eaters will increase and become in the world.

  • Food is a basic need of life. I live in Pakistan. Pakistan is an agricultural country and our 70% of our economy depend upon agricultural. Some of the foods that can be made in my country such as wheat, cotton, rice and orange etc... But flood in Pakistan this year destroyed half of the fields in Pakistan. we were unable to eat our own grown things. So we imported many needy basic from other countries like China, USA,Turkey. To do import and export, our relations must have to be good with other countries.

  • In my country, we produce large quantities of olive oil and sometimes we export to the Gulf countries, and this is because there are many agricultural lands, and The people of my city mostly work in agriculture
My country imports wheat from Europe, and this is because most of the popular foods have an essential component of wheat

_No, because this will cause a decrease in the imported quantity, which will raise prices and poverty rates will increase, and the people will be angry and may stage protests that impede the work of employees and the economy

_By supporting the national product and exploiting agricultural lands as much as possible, and supporting young people to work in developing food products and establishing projects that provide excellent economic income.

  • I think importing foods should be allowed however countries that grow less food should be allowed to receive more imported foods than others. Also countries who have more than enough food should give some away.

  • A country that does not eat from what it grows and benefits from what it manufactures is doomed to dependence and annihilation, it must be exported and imported, but what will happen in emergency cases that this country may stop exporting Therefore, from my point of view, every country must rely on itself, encourage the people to produce national products, intensify agriculture and take care of it, provide more advanced machines for agriculture, and try as much as possible to achieve self-sufficiency for countries.something important to your country

  • Here in India, agriculture is called the backbone of Indian economy because 70% of Indian population are engaged in agriculture and food processing. Also I would like to mention that India is home to the largest undernourished population in the world. Though India holds 15th rank in export of goods including food and food cross across 195 countries in the world, Still people here in some parts of the country are facing starvation due to insufficient food leading to malnutrition. With a population of 1.3 billion people in our country, food grain production has increased two times. However, India faces food crisis in many parts of the states. It's so surprising for me that, West Bengal, a state in India, produces largely rice, maize, pulses, wheat, barley and vegetables but in other hand West Bengal is one of the states in India holding large number of food insecure people. In my view, these points which I have mentioned are all contradictory. One side India is developing both by economy and food production, and On other side, India is facing food crisis and undernourished population. Fundamental Right to Life as guaranteed in Article 21 of the constitution gives right to every human being to live a life with atleast bare necessities of life including food security which is the bounden duty of all states and governments and I strongly insist that government should take actions against the hunger of people, Wondering how a country has both the faces of highest food production and meanwhile hunger amidst plenty!

  • When I drive by streets and highways I see people begging for food. I see homeless people digging in the trash for cans and for food. People sleeping under bridges With tents and no clothes there clothes are dirty and they can not afford anything to help like food/water.

    1. Begging exists in all countries.
But when you see beggars, do you think of solutions to solve this problem?
      And what are your solutions?

  • Nature has bestowed each nd every country with some special nd diverse uniqness .my country is pakistan enriched with natural resources i am thankful Allah almighty for this . I ve home made food in my plate all food items r not branded rather desi food like daaal chawal (whole grains ) is there sometime meat egg nd vegetables . But oncw in a month or twice i asked my mother abt junk food . All types of food ww almost cultivate so we wish to export our rice wheat oranges nd mangoes . If we dont export our food is spoiled nd our farmers

Instead of importation, I think a country should be more bothered about improving its means of food production

  • Many foods such as chicken and rice are made in my country. My country takes in oil from Mexico but I also think there should be rules about importing and exporting food so they won't run out of an item. People can grow fruits and vegetables so they won't run out of food.

  • Whats is on my plate is an delicious italian recipe can u guess what it is PIZZA!!! , pizza is an popular food that mostly kids and adults both enjoy, about 99% of people love this meal, Pizza is originally made from Italy. and did u know that italy is one of Western Europe's youngest countries . Hopefully this was what u want to read.

  • On my plate is MEXICAN FOOD!But soon it might run our so i would personally just stick to that in the future but at the moment its all Mexican!

  • All different types of food can be made in my country, because all different types of people live here! I live in America just in the middle of Canada And mexico. People of all different races, cultures, religions, etc have made homes in America. i myself am African-American, the food that we are very much known for is soul food. The most popular food my country imports is fruits, vegetables, and tropical products such as cocoa, and coffee. I think that they should have little rules when importing and exporting goods because you can never know what is going to happen if they are not put under rules when doing so. So say a person puts something bad or dangerous on the boat to transport the goods to other countries. So by saying that i think they should have Check-out rules for the "boat". People can support their own country by at least trying to grow more crops and build just a tad bit of more factories so they can have natural and human capital goods.

  • Pakistan; an agricultural country that has all kinds of natural treasure. In spite of this reality, our country is much behinde in competition of the world. If we dive into the near past, our country faced huge problems because of floods. This caused wastage of food at a very large scale. Our crops were destroyed and we were partially dependent on other resources. All of these points made me think that there must be proper rules on imports and exports specifically regarding a country that is facing such problems. Countries that have the threats of such cataclysmic events must import a large amount of necessary resources only under a fixed contract and save it under the government law. It should only be used when the country comes in hot water. This will keep the country stable in all the difficult times.

  • Pakistan has four seasons and hence abundant food variety production. Being a agricultural country there are abundant food production areas and lands. But because of political differences the means for more production of food are still not used. For example one part of the country objects building of a dam by the other part. - otherwise there would have been a agricultural revolution. So, even wheat, the very basic food item has to be imported some times. Modern technology usage has been lacking so, that's why the country has to import some items.
There should be no rule except the one to regulate the even distribution of food around the globe.
People can help produce more food by bringing under cultivation more and more the bigger and the smaller patches of land - lying vacant in their houses and outside around them. House farming of chickens, mushrooms, fish can also enhance food production. The idea of poultry farming at micro scale for production of proteins and eggs was extended by the Ex- prime minister, Imran Khan - which was ridiculed by the political opponents but applauded by Mr. Bill Gates.

  • in my country Sudan , the main crops are cotton , peanuts ( groundnuts) sesame, gum , arabic , sorghum and sugarcane.
the main subsistence crops are sorghums and millet , with smaller amounts of wheat corn and barley
Maintaining the appropriate balance of import and exports is crucial for a country. the importing and exporting activity of a country can influence a country's GDP , its exchange rate and its a level of inflation and interest rates .

  • In my country pakistan , 70 % population live in villages .Villages have cultivated land .Farmers nd owners still work on those land nd earn money . We v our productions like rice ,wheat ,oranges ,dry fruits cotton sugercane etc. Still due to rise in population ,we r unable to fill the needs of whole population. Eports r sports items ,agricultual machinary nd steel cutlery anges wgeras imports r wheat ,cars nd other vehicles oil nd fuels elctrical equipment iron nd steel nd irganic chemicals. Yes there should b rules which can benfit our countrt
People can support by education in agricultur ,biitecnolgy nd vocatiinal . So tgey can uplift 5ge country

  • **Indian economy is also known as agrarian economy as 70% of the income generated from agriculture.

The geographic conditions of India make it a suitable place for the agriculture business. It has a good source of land, water, and climate for cultivation. India is the world's largest producer of milk, pulses and jute, and ranks as the second largest producer of rice, wheat, sugarcane, groundnut, vegetables, fruit and cotton. It is also one of the leading producers of spices, fish, poultry, livestock and plantation crops.

    **IMPORT AND EXPORT
There is both advantage and disadvantage in importing food as it can cause dependency on other countries.
India imports cereals, edible oils, and petroleum products.
Rice is the largest exported agricultural product from India and contributed to more than 19% of the total agriculture export .

Import and export policies are important because importing and exporting activity of a country can influence a country's GDP, its exchange rate, and its level of inflation and interest rates. But they are also necessary for a range of reasons, from environmental protection, safety, national security to consumer information.

**We could support our country to produce more by Smart water Management as water management is the best way to improve production. Using the sprinkler irrigation system, you can increase the output by up to 50%

By improving the terrace gardening activities in country and motivating people to start it by providing seeds and fertilizers at free of cost.

Invest in good food including organic farms, grocery, and restaurants as well as healthy food systems.

By using organic manure for example our kitchen waste such as peels of vegetables, fruits, eggshells .

By involving children in gardening activities as they are the future generation leaders!!**

  • Importation can be bad for the country because it can lead to over dependency of a country for food and other things. In the world we are living in where thing are getting bad ,it could lead to inflation in the country which may lead to poor economic system becauce a country that only import will only lead to a bad economic system in the country . But if a country like Nigeria is noted for its ability to produce palm oil, groundnuts, cashue, yam ,garri ect. We also import of our own in other to keep things balance in our country , because we need other country to also sustain our self ,because no country is an island . we also export these goods to other countries in need of them. I think that rules are necessary for any system to in a country to work and function successfully.

  • As we have it we are still being sustained all bacause of food. I live in Nigeria. It is an agriculture based country. We eat food mostly which is grown here because it is easier to get hold of .Mostly importing and exporting of food and crudeoil have been a major role of our country's survival. But bad soil in Nigeria have destroyed almost half of the fields in Nigeria. We mainly were eat our own grown things. So we imported many needy basics from other countries like Cannada,Usa,China. To do import and export, our relations must have to be good with other states. This can be a good and excellent idea for solving the upcoming worldwide food crisis going on in the world

  • we all know that eating local food is great for the local economy and offer more environmentally friendly than getting it from far away but there are many other benefits of local food first if you know the people who produce your food it's easier to know what's in it and by procuring food locally you help agriculture and its cultural heritage
to preservenearby this means more than enjoying the landscape as these farms can also provide healthy school meals for our children and offer valuable lessons about nature and cooking by giving food a prominent place on the city's agenda we can contribute to the goals set for employment health social justice and sustainability

  • The concept of export and import: Export is the production of goods or services in one country and selling or trading them in another country. Consideration is import, which means buying goods from another country and selling them inside the country.
Of the foods that are made in my country:
    1- Preserving and drying fruits.
2- Production of hydrogenated meat and oils.
    3- Dairy, milk and cheese.
    4- Candies and sweets.
5- All kinds of baked goods.
As for the foods that my country imports:
    1-sugar.
    2- Rice of all kinds.
    3- Animal ghee.
    4- Dates of all kinds.
    5-some fruits and vegetables.
There are pros and cons to importing:
    First, the positives:
Helps provide the foods my country doesn't produce, supports countries that don't produce as much food, and helps bring money to countries that produce enough food.
    Secondly, the negatives:
Paying exorbitant taxes on imported products, wasting money for other countries to buy food commodities.
The country can be supported to produce more food by growing more and more fruits and vegetables, by doing industrial production of foodstuffs.

  • Import and export are two complementary processes, but I prefer exporting to other countries and for the citizen to eat of his own making, thus enhancing the economy of his country. And not be a prisoner of global economic fluctuations, as we saw in the recent period when wheat rose. impact of the Ukrainian war. All countries affected. When we grow what we eat, we are safer and more secure. To secure the consumption of products.

  • The world around us is one family. There are countries that export food and countries that import.
If we talk about importing food, it has two sides, one positive and the other negative
The positive is that the importing countries introduce new foods that benefit the people. For example, we in Palestine need Egyptian cotton for its many advantages, including operating garment factories, thus employing more youth, eliminating unemployment, and entering money from buying and selling. And if we talk about the negative side, the import of all food from abroad causes a recession of local products and harms the local economy
We, the people of Palestine, enjoy our blessed olives, the original olive oil, strawberries and citrus fruits.
Each country must study its country's economy and what it needs to import from the food that their country needs, not exhaust their money without interest.
    Thank you

  • Wheat is produced in the country but the same is to be imported due to low production.
Yes, there should be a rule t import and export. But export should be allowed only if a certain food item is sufficiently available for the people of a country. This is because of hoarding practices by profit-gaining mafias who export a much-wanted food item from one country to the other to earn extra money.
People can help their country by saving food from, wastage, preserving food properly, and just not depending on one or few food items. If the government gives away vacant lands to the people with the assistance of investment- then people can help food production a lot.

  • if there is enough food in the world for every one,why can't people just share?
In the world today, one billion and one hundred million people (ie one-sixth of humanity) suffer from hunger and malnutrition. According to the data of the United Nations, which were mentioned in the report of its Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon, before the “World Summit on Food Security,” or as some called it the “Hunger Summit,” which was held in mid-November 2009 in Rome, seven million children in the world Every year, 17,000 children die of hunger, at a rate of one child every five seconds. It's a terrifying number, hard to believe, but unfortunately it's true, slapping every living conscience with its realism. This is happening at a time when the world today produces enough food to feed the entire population of the planet. The problem, then, is not in production and increasing its effectiveness, but rather in distribution.

  • I can honestly say that more than 85% of the foodstuffs that all Lebanese eat are imported foods, as Lebanon imports food from abroad worth 20 20 milliard dollars annually, due to its inability to secure enough food for its people. Although the fact that Lebanon has its unique nature, moderate climate and terrain, and the abundance of natural resources in it, it forms a fertile land suitable for cultivation. But the Lebanese authority does not urge people to farm and raise livestock, despite their laziness in this work.

Because of the large number of imports and the lack of exports, the accumulation of the debts of the Lebanese state, and the collapse of the Lebanese pound, Lebanon entered into a difficult economic crisis. Despite all this, the Lebanese are still sitting where they are, doing nothing, watching their country gradually collapse before their eyes.

From my personal point of view, I am a fifteen-year-old girl who grows vegetables and trees in my garden and raises animals such as goats, chickens and pigeons, and takes care of them tirelessly every day, knowing that I study and go to school.

  • My country is wild Palestine, the only land corridor here. Various types of terrain, its astronomical location, olive trees, wood and antiquities vary in fruits, vegetables, olives, wood, and antiquities. Hisham’s palace in Jericho, the Omari mosque in Gaza, roses from Gaza, and bananas from Jericho from Jericho. Olives are from Nablus, citrus fruits are from Jaffa, and all its cities are famous for legumes. This is what my country exports

But there are things that are imported, such as Korean foods, such as noodles from Italy, sushi and tacos ... from Japan, China, Korea, and other sweets. Personally, I love foreign food very much and popular food. Do you agree with me??

But we must preserve our bodies in order to protect ourselves from many. From diseases such as obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, and kidney failure when you eat too much salt, so I think that a healthy meal is one that consists of calcium, protein, vitamins, and a little fat and carbohydrates.

I want to ask you some questions??

What do you prefer, folk or foreign food??
I love both, but I love the foreigner more than the traditional one.

Do you like to try the foods of other countries?
I love to try all kinds of exotic food in this world.

I hope you share with me information about your favorite dish?

  • In my country, Romania you can make lots of foods, but some tratitional food that you can make here are: sarmale, mici, zacuscă , mămăligă and piftie. Romania imports a lot of foods, actually it kinda imports almost every food. I don't think there should be rules about when a country can or can not import or export food because if a country needs food but they can't import it a lot of people might die from starvation. I think for a country to make more of it's own food and to relay less on others, the people from that country can support it by makeing more farms.

  • How could people support their country to produce more of its own food?
Mainly by using all the food products made in their own country only which can increase the demands of that foods in country, encouraging the farmers to grow more green vegetables in own country by providing them knowledge about the importance of green vegetables in human life , people should request to their government to provide loan for agriculture sector by which the farmers whose economic condition are low can increase their field and they can grow more crops .

  • I wonder where fruit 🍇 🍈 🍉 comes from like pineapple where does it comes from

Like really grapes where do they come from

    1. Fruit grows on plants, glorious_raspberry - and different plants like different climates. So tropical fruits like pineapples are mostly grown in hot countries. This is a great thing for you to research further as it's important to know where our food comes from. Why is that?

  • There are plenty foods made in my country like cocoa for beverages, palm kernel for palm oil, groundnut, plantain, yam, potatoes, and so on.my country import a lot of things like chocolate, cookies, and others. I believe that there should be rules consigning importation and exportation because some country use importation as an opportunity to stop producing goods and import very little things like pencils, erasers and others. people can support their country by trying vertical farming it is very good and it also saves land and water. The can also build industries to improve their packing and importation.

    1. Hi blithesome_engineer, thank you for your comment. I'm interested to know more about vertical farming. Can you tell me what countries use this method and how it has helped them?

      1. There are many countries that are into vertical farming, USA has the highest vertical farm in the world. In Asia we have countries that do vertical farming like Japan, China, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, and Thailand and in Europe we have countries like Germany, France, UK, and Dubai. Vertical farming has helped countries so many ways like growing more food in less space and eschewing pesticides, high crop yields, allows for year-round food production in any climate, and enables farms to focus on goals ranging from food safety to quality.

  • Our country makes a lot of bread, because we have lots of wheat fields. Romania on the other hand, imports fish the most.
We shouldn't have rules for when we import or export food, because we should be able to buy food that is more easy for other countries to make and vice versa.
People could support their country to make more of it's own food because it's less expensive that way.

    1. I'm not sure about this because countries import and also export goods that is not wrong because it part of development. But some of the countries do more of export than import that is of great disadvantage to the countries doing export. Should there be rules guiding exportation and importation in such countries?

  • The most popular foods are polenta, littles and the most traditional one cabbage rolls. The other countries import in Romania many different things that we just found about them and different vegetables and fruits. We export a lot of vegetables and fruits because many countries need food.I think we need to have some rules in import or export because what if someone brings what we don't like and we will never get anything from any other countries if they see that. Romania didn't produce food as much as they did before because the agricultural land are sold to the other companies from another countries. So we need to encourage the farmers to plant seeds of the food that we need in Romania

  • 1️⃣ Romania imports a lot of fruits and vegetables wich can only be grown in a tropical climate especially bananas and oranges. Romania remains one of Europe's biggest food importer and in the top 20 in the world, despite our country having huge potential as a producer.
A lot of foods can be made in our country (Romania) because the climate is temperate. Romania produces: vegetables, seeds, cereals, meat and many more.
2️⃣ In my opinion, there should be some rules regarding when countries can import or export food. For example, the food needs to be tested before shipped for the safety of the consumer. If the food is not tested well before shipped, people of all ages can catch diseases or in the worst case, overdose.
3️⃣ I think that people in our country have to support small businesses and farmers more because if we don't, more and more imported products will come to our countries and, people who once had farms, gardens and natural products, will just go to the supermarket (that supermarket not even being made or having any business with romanian producers) and buy imported food and products because they got lazy.

  • Most types of food in my country Nigeria are often made from plant or animal and contain vital nutrients, such as carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins, or minerals. Most of the Nigerian foods are made locally with local spices. Nigerian delicacy consists of dishes or food items ranging from the diverse ethnic groups in Nigeria. Nigerian dishes use spices and herbs with groundnut or palm oil. Most of the dishes made here are made with spices produced from industries within the country. We have three major ethnic groups and they all have different local dishes.
We also have different foods made from just on plant like "akara , moi moi" are both made from beans and "suya and kilishi" are both made from meat.
I believe that if local dishes made in each and every one of our countries eaten more often and spice producing companies in our countries are supported we can help our country to produce more on its food.

  • My country Pakistan have two fruits baskets one Swat and other Ziarat. And in Punjab is famous for excellent variety of mangoes. But sadly the goods like Jams, pickles and preserved fruits items are of no import quality. We can save alot if the goods of high quality are being imported.
There should be rules and they can be amended according to the production and availability in diffrent seasons but the story is different. Itsy observance that even our country is producing some high quality fruits and importing them but common man could not afford them. The masses are geting the thrid or fourth degree import leftovers.
Adaptation of agricultural technologies is the need of the hour. I think there must be farming revolution is the need of the hours. Strengthening the farmers should be our top most priority. Low interest loans offers and providing low cost hybrid technology seeds and giving the respect and value to the organic food is the only way to cope with the farming crisis after flood episodes.

  • I am a proud citizen of Nigeria and my country is noted for it mass production of oil palm, rubber, cocoa pods and many more agricultural produce. But sadly, my country only produces the raw materials, exports them and imports back the finished or semi finished goods such as chocolate and this affects the country's GDP.
Every rational country should have standards and rules guiding their international trade because it is important to know what comes in and goes out of the country. The health of the consumers of such products is Paramount and will only be tampered with when there are no rules guiding the import and exports of a country because counterfeit and fake produce if not properly inspected can be brought in or sent out of a country and this can cause havoc.
The citizens of a country can help the country produce more of its food for export by engaging in more commercial farming. This means that the majority of food farmed by the citizens should be for sale and not for consumption. In other words, the major way for citizens to help their country produce more is to focus more on production than consumption. I believe that any economy that gets this concept right will blossom.

  • I think that importing food is both positive and negative. It's a double-edged thing. It is a positive that helps people eat food they have never tasted before, such as Makhtum Ajwa. It is a Palestinian sweet that has important therapeutic benefits for everyone, especially women, and there may be people who have not tasted it before. On the other hand, it is negative. It can affect and damage the climate, but I think sharing food among the world's population is very important and wonderful. We perceive their culture on the one hand and increase the love between us on the other.

  • Importing food can also cause problems:
Transporting food around the world is bad for the climate.
It can cause people relying on food from there to go hungry.
    How?
Explanation: So, transporting food around the world is bad for the climate because most imports and exports are done by ships or by planes they burn fossil fuels and run so carbon emission takes place and pollutes the air.
Solution: For this problem, we can use electric-powered ships and planes.
Ok, then what can we do for people going hungry by relying on food from there
    Hmm...
Solution: We are not in any other galaxy, we are on earth and we have alternate resources in our own country also we could adjust for one or two days.

Importing food can be a good thing - How?
    Explain:
Every farmer from nook and cranny could get benefited and the corporate companies who do the job of importing and exporting would also get benefited. From taxes, the government also gets benefited directly and indirectly.

Support countries that can’t make enough food.
This is a good idea because helping other countries would end up conflicts and reduces the chance of wars.

    1. I like the idea of powering food import and export by renewable energy @brilliant_signature. What foods does your country import and what foods does it export?

  • How could people support their country to produce more of it's own food??
People could support their country to produce more of its own food in many ways. Government should make rules against importing large amount of food from other countries. Just making rules won't work so all the respective citizens of nations should follow and implement them. All the people should buy the food which are produced in their own country. Appreciation helps people make more encourage. So, we all should appreciate to the farmers and all workers who are involved in cultivation, farming. Who are hardworking for us to make our stomach full. We people should start eating more veggies instead of meats, eggs, fish which is also good for our health.

  • What's on my plate from america is jerky, tater tot, cornbread, and more. All of my meals make me feel different feelings, moods and just overall excitement. But most of my meals are from America. I went to a mexican buffet and had great foods such as Enchiladas, tacos, and nachos. And I know I ate different food but many palaces make the same thing. But this is my plate and where it's from.

  • We can look at this problem with positive eyes, which is that this helps to provide foods from one country to another and to have an experience of foods around the world. Foods that are made in my country are Burgers, French Fries, Fried Chicken, Grilled Cheese ,and Apple Pie.The foods that my country import are fruits and vegetables and tropical products, such as cocoa and coffee. I think there shouldn't but I think that I should be a rule about certain foods because some foods are illegal in some countries that I think other countries should import to other for the simple fact that they might get caught selling or having these and possibly go to jail. They could have
smart water management. Water is an essential need for planting crops, and by the management of water, you can enhance the production.

  • My country name is Nepal which is a producer of tea and coffee. In my opinion, There should be rules when a country exports or imports food for any system to function successfully and properly. There should be rule regarding consumers health, countries economy ,etc. There should be equal compensation for goods that are being exported or imported.
    Thank You

Moving food around the world is bad for the climate.
