Would, wouldn't, why?

Read the three "greener choices" news stories below. Each tell us about a way of reducing greenhouse-gas emissions through the food we eat.

Your questions:

Which would you do? Why?

Which wouldn't you (if any)? Why?

Answer the two questions and explain your thinking in a comment below. Give reasons for your answers - no more than a short paragraph for each to make sure you get straight to the point.

Extra challenge: Which one of these options would be easiest to persuade the general public to do? Why?

I've read all three of the news stories, but there's one thing that catches the eye, and it's a news story that said, "Leaves for lunch."
For every 3 kg of food waste disposed of, 23 kg of emissions are released when it decomposes. If people use more of their leftover food in other poultry, it will help the climate.” Let’s make it clear that in the developed and developing world, excessive and wasted lunch is going to waste schools, and this is what causes the so-called global warming. Food waste may actually cause many emissions of up to Billions of tons of known gases annually, so excessive food waste is one of the third and most producers of gases that cause global warming after China and the United States of America. Which makes some food residues a positive impact on the environment and the surrounding climate

To reduce food waste first from a humanitarian point of view, there are many people who work day and night to get a meal or the leftovers of a meal from this
As for nature, food waste must be reduced by eating reasonable meals, the amount that a person can eat, and not using food only in appearances, because these food residues cause many gases, which leads to global warming.

I think there are ways to reduce food waste. Let's rely on a healthier and sustainable diet, store food in a correct and good way, save leftovers, consume smaller quantities, eat more legumes and vegetables, share food with others, read the expiration date of food packages, and as you said, Madam, what is the role of countries in Reducing food waste Enact laws related to preserving and wasting food and preparing programs in educational curricula to reduce food waste. Societies must cooperate in spreading the culture of reducing food waste. Healthy eating to avoid excess weight and excessive food consumption

I suggest that in order to reduce the waste of food, institutions and charities take advantage of the leftovers in restaurants and banquets, repackaging them, arranging them and distributing them to the homes of the poor, as the associations do in my country.
Exploiting food leftovers that are not suitable as food for animals, recycling used tools, and reducing waste as much as possible to preserve the environment.

I agree with you that food and food waste are the third main things in causing global warming. Did you know that approximately 1.43 billion tons of food is wasted annually, and the United States wastes about 7 million tons of food every year, which is equivalent to 40% of the total edible food in the world The United States, which emits 3% of the world's greenhouse gas emissions About 135 million tons of greenhouse gases are emitted every year due to global food waste, which represents 1.5% of the total greenhouse gas emissions that cause global warming in the world, so you may see how big the impact of food waste on the climate
Therefore, we have to try to take advantage of food waste and try to reduce food waste and take advantage of food waste and make organic fertilizer for trees because this helps to get rid of waste and helps to grow trees and support the climate and try to rely on plant food more than animal food. Everyone buys the food he wants and needs only and does not exceed his needs

    Choose LEFTORERS FOR LUNCH
I think that it is the appropriate choice for all groups of society and suits the tastes of all of society. For example, there is a large group of people who do not like or avoid eating processed meat and meat alternatives and use fresh meat instead. Also, not all people in the world eat insects. I am talking about my personal opinion. I eat insects in my life and I never eat them, and there are many people who agree with me and do not like them and have never accepted them, so I think that it is the best solution for all people and society and is able to convince them clearly and greatly

And I will not use the method of immersion in bedbugs, because bugs are insects that take a place from the bed, to feed on human blood, by planting their beak in the skin, to remain on his skin from 3 to 10 minutes, until she gets her meal from him, which causes many diseases dermatological

I do not binge on bogs, because it is impossible for me to eat insects even if it is forced, because there are many creatures that feed on them, and we can benefit from these creatures, and also it is not tasty, and also vector of diseases.

The easiest way to convince people of it is leftover for lunch, because it helps to create new foods, helps to create time by arranging meals, and also saves money.

    Additional challenge:
I'm here to talk about my community, because I don't know the reactions of others from other communities that I haven't lived in, so I'm going to make an easy-to-implement option if we educate people, In my society, eating insects and adding microbes and fungi will not be accepted in the first step in changing the lifestyle, because they will describe it as disgusting and no matter how much you try to convince them, you will not be able to, Because they will say we used to live normally with our daily food so why change even our food for climate change, and this will make people reject the idea of building greener because they will think that it only brings trouble,So we have to start changing from the easiest and most appropriate for society and its mind, so that it is easy to be convinced and applied , But if we put forward the idea of using leftovers in other meals, and educating them environmentally and economically in order to be more convinced, and why did you choose this step,Because my society, the majority in it, follows an Islamic religion, and we have forbade extravagance, meaning this will increase their conviction rate,Also, because our countries do not have a high economy that can cover poverty, this will increase their sense of the poor and will increase the friendship between society,This will unite them to face climate change hand in hand and this will give the generations of society the opportunity to think in more than one way because they will become more aware of the conditions of the countries that share the same geographical spot with them.

I will work to spread awareness to the public and also reduce the amount of food and not waste the rest or throw it away, but rather eat it again

When dumped, it turns and produces methane, which affects global warming, affecting it 34 times more than CO2

A 2005 study found that these programs can reduce household waste by 38% and increase recyclable waste by up to 40%. According to Project Drawdown, if food waste is cut in half over the next 30 years, the world could avoid emissions of at least 10 gigatons of carbon dioxide equivalent to shutting down 2,570 coal-fired power plants. By preventing deforestation for additional farmland, these measures will also prevent additional emissions of over 70 gigatons.

I will use leftover for lunch. It is worth to mention that preventing food waste is the most effective way to shrink it's impact on the planet. When we waste the food, it goes to the landfill and rots which produces methane. Emissions could be reduced if we stop wasting food.
I would not binge on bugs. Although insects have been consumed as food there is still very little know about how they might affect our bodies. Reducing alternative energy sources because they are widely used in our society, so these sources are replaced by natural sources such as the sun, wind, and ..
And also reduce the pollution of transportation such as car smoke...

Talking about my community, eating insects and adding microbes and mushrooms is unacceptable in the first steps of lifestyle change. Because they explain that they don't like it. People build more eco-friendly ideas because they live normally with their daily diet, so why change their diet due to climate change, I think these only causes problems for people Will lead you. So we need to start changing from the simplest and most appropriate to society and its mind. That makes it easier to convince and apply. And why did you choose to take this step? This means increasing the proportion of their accusations, as my society, the majority of which obey Islam and we forbid luxury, and because our country does not have a high economy. Covering poverty strengthens the sense of the poor and strengthens social friendships so that they are more aware of the situation in countries that share the same geographical location. Considering the catastrophic changes that affect the climate and are caused by the decomposition of food waste, I use certain limited foods to reduce food waste and waste food that is dumped and decomposed. Reducing things and gas is determined to increase the threat of climate change and global warming, and food waste is considered food waste. One of the problems facing different countries around the world is estimated to be about a trillion dollars annually. However, from what I've read that the Danish initiative proved to be the most successful in reducing food waste, allowing Denmark to reduce the amount of food dumped in landfills by a certain amount. I think it's very unpleasant in Arab countries that it can cause illness and danger to people.

1-The news story I chose is leftovers because food production is the cause of a quarter of greenhouse gas emissions, according to a study conducted in Oxford, Britain. The study showed that meat and other animal products produce more than half of the gaseous emissions resulting from foods eaten by humans, so I will reduce as much as possible from eating meat, especially beef and sheep, because it is more harmful to the environment than other foods. Consume locally produced seasonal foods and limit the amount of food we dispose of in the garbage.
2-The news story that I won't do is the gluttony of insects. Although many rely on insects as a rich source of protein, eating them disgusts with some I have it too so I don't think I can eat bugs Because insects, especially in the tropics, live at the very end of their temperature range, any further increases can quickly wipe them out, with dire consequences for the tropics that depend on insects for everything from pollination to waste disposal, especially in the tropics. It includes the vast majority of species found on planet Earth.

I think that the easiest option to convince the public of is leftover food, because this choice is in everyone's hands, and everyone can decide what he wants to eat and what he wants to refrain from. Through modifications to his food such as reducing meat and buying food directly from farmers instead of the manufacturer, as well as eating grains, vegetables and fruits as an alternative to red meat, growing his own fruits and vegetables, and committing to a meat-free vegan day every week I think he will not have a problem because it is not difficult.

There are those who depend on meat as food and a source of energy for their body, it will be difficult for them to leave meat,Also, meat does not pose a danger to the human body if it is cooked in a healthy way, so why should we reduce it? , And if each individual were to grow his own fruits and vegetables, because this would increase the individual's use of chemical fertilizers, which are causing soil pollution,Also, permanent irrigation, which will increase water consumption, and thus the exploitation of water from water bodies will begin to increase. In the future, countries will face economic problems because they will have to buy water from other countries, Also, if everyone is going to grow vegetables and fruits on his own and he does not have experience, is it not possible that this will lead to the drying out of the land and desertification?

I respect your opinion, but I want to make it clear to you that we are talking about meat which accounts for the largest proportion of the production of carbon emissions from global warming. I didn't touch on how important meat is to human health, so I suggested a day out of every week and anyone who needed meat could do without it for just one day, and if we talk about this day, it won't make much difference to the individual, but it will make a big difference to the climate in the world. As for the cultivation of each individual's own fruits and vegetables, he will certainly not resort to chemical fertilizers in large quantities, but rather use biological fertilizers because he cares about his health and the health of his family, unlike he who grows for the purpose of trade, whose only concern will be to increase production in any way. As for irrigation, I think that a tree or two will not consume much of water and I'm sure the person who is going to water the trees will follow the best and least wasteful method of water because they don't want to increase their bill, and most rely on rain water mostly.

Let's gather efforts and enlighten minds that are ignorant of the scale of the problem that climate change suffers from, which will inevitably have an impact and will affect more and more dangerously on us and our lives. Bacteria were used in the past in the production of foods / for example, I used bacteria in lactic acid, which is used in the process of extracting milk products such as yogurt, cheese, butter and other dairy products ... I will work on bacteria in meals, which people think is harmful and bad, but if they By hearing the good things about her, they will change their minds. … Health and beneficial titles should be launched. Bacteria, and when they hear that bacteria offer all the benefits, they will say that scientists have been able to turn the harmful thing into useful. Think rationality, not point of view.

I think that the leftovers for lunch option are the most convenient option because it gives the public freedom of variety. In my opinion, leftovers are better than the real thing because in some cases, reheating leftovers can bring out even more flavor, foods like soup, stew, and casseroles are perfect examples of this.
Now in terms of environmental changes, if we don't eat our (yummy) leftovers then we would be wasting food, and when accumulated can produce methane which is more toxic than carbon dioxide and worsens global warming.

I agree with you that leftovers are the easiest and most economical solution, but when you reheat food there are foods that become dangerous and may cause poisoning, meaning they will not increase their deliciousness!!! Also, fresh food is often better than food that is heated because it is not exposed to high heat more than once,Where from my point of view I prefer to eat food fresh because I think it has more nutritional properties than food that is heated,Where, for example, chicken is not preferable to heat it because it contains a high percentage of proteins that can turn into toxic substances after heating!! And when it accumulates, it produces methane, I think that there is a solution to this problem, which is to educate the individual to meet his needs only , And how might throwing away his leftover food affect the future of humanity, and how wasting it could get him into material problems in the future and the present,And there is another option, where if he cooks a large percentage, he can distribute it to the poor or neighbors, and thus we enhance the spirit of friendship among the community

call The easiest way to convince the public of leftovers is to give everyone a choice and let everyone decide for themselves what they want to eat and what they don't want to do. I think it's because you can. Follow his diet by reducing meat, buying food directly from farmers instead of producers, eating grains, vegetables and fruits instead of lean meat, growing your own fruits and vegetables, and advocating for veganism. I don't think this is the problem. Because it's not difficult to change weekly.

    THE CHALLENGE

I feel that the least demanding choice to persuade the general population of is extra food, since this decision is in everybody's grasp, and everybody can conclude what he needs to eat and what he needs to abstain from.
Through alterations to his food, For Example, diminishing meat and purchasing food straightforwardly from ranchers rather than the maker, just as eating grains, vegetables and natural products as an option in contrast to red meat, developing his own products of the soil, and focusing on a sans meat vegetarian day consistently I figure he won't have an issue since it is easy.

I think that the food waste option is the most appropriate option to reduce the problem, because the accumulation of food leftovers in abundance leads to the production of methane gas, which negatively affects the environment and increases the problem of global warming, which increases the problem of climate change. This problem can be solved through awareness campaigns. For example, I will be stuck in my school Panels that include the risks of climate change, then put forward the causes of climate change, including food waste, ways to reduce food waste and its risks, and scientific evidence that proves that food waste negatively affects the environment, whether in its accumulation or heating. The thing that I do not want to use is insects because I do not know how dangerous they are and their impact on the human body, so I will not use them. I also think that this idea will not be convinced by people because most people do not like to eat insects.

Is eating insects useful or not? Some people have a phobia of insects and others like to eat insects very much, as if they were a main meal. In some countries, it is allowed to eat insects and sell them in the markets, such as the European Court and Paris, which makes restaurants for insects only .Some scientists say that it is rich in protein, and some countries prefer insects over beef .From my point of view some insects transmit many diseases such as Covid 19 and yellow fever so that healthy food must be eaten to prevent disease.

I should take microbes in meals. Because the rate of greenhouse gas emission through this category of food is very low and the abundance of the eatable microbes is plenty in our country. They are used in our daily life as food like bread is made from one kind of fungi named yeast. Now a days, a kind of mushroom named Agaricus is used as fancy food. It is also one kind of fungi. Again these foods are also tasty. From above benefits, I think, choosing microbes as meal is a great choice. I would try to avoid beef or lamb because these foods are more responsible of greenhouse gas emission than any other animal producted food.
Extra challenge: I believe, left over for lunch would be easiest to persuade the general public to do than other two options. Because left over foods are eatable unless people have the intention to wasted. In many countries, people don't want to eat bugs or microbes because of their psych, religious belief or the taste of the insects. It would take more time to make them eat this kind of food as their daily food habit. We suggest that in order to reduce food waste, there are several ways for leftovers because they can be used in a number of ways including donating them to food banks or charities. There is another way to prevent food residues from reaching the landfill by using it as an organic fertilizer in the gardens. This increases the nutrients inside the soil and improves the growth of plants.
    How to reduce food waste!?
    1.Shop smart and realistic . 2.Store food correctly .

(Food leftovers, according to my expectations) Every year, about a third of the food we produce in our world is lost, and limiting purchases to it is essential to help reduce waste :: That's when I went to my menu and had to stick to it. And choose the ugly and hateful vegetables and fruits that have been thrown away, that their taste is the same, and it may even be better, know the difference between the date “the best before” often Sometimes the food remains valid for a few medium periods of time that tells you the time when the food is not good * But you have to pay attention when it is spoiled and inedible and its date is expired * and the date should put the food in front of the refrigerator so that it was bought quickly and put the new one in the back because it stays in long periods of its time longer, recruit the leftovers, and prepare it in another meal to eat it in the day Next, beware, you have to remember when you waste food, you waste all the resources such as water, energy, and others that were used to make and transport it..

I choose to eat leftovers for lunch, for multiple reasons. The first reason is because leftovers are very handy and you don’t have to go buy anything extra to have them for lunch. The second reason, which links to the first one, is you don’t waste. All that food that is wasted could be used and eating, which not only would help for saving money, but also for helping climate change. ‘For every 3kg leftover food that is thrown away, 23kg are released as it decays.’ This 23kg could make a huge difference to climate change, saving not the just the inhabitants, but also the planet. Therefore, the reason it will help to stop food waste is because you don't need to throw away food if it is not palatable ,and will not waste any money or extra preparation. This could be very beneficial in many ways.

I wouldn’t choose the binge on bugs, because I find bugs very repulsive and their texture is not a very pleasant one, by what I have seen/ heard. Another reason is because of bacteria, or poisonous ones. Firstly, they roll around in dirt and on the ground , meaning they have collected some bacteria, which wouldn’t be very healthy. Secondly, some can be poisonous, or have poisonous parts of them, meaning if you by accident or somehow unfortunately ate such one, you would get poisoned. My final reason is that I don’t think that bugs will feed me as they are quite small, and don’t have much taste. I have never eaten bugs, so this is from my point of view, therefore I cannot be 100% sure that they are tasteless.

Challenge: Finally to finish of, I think that leftovers for lunch would be the easiest to persuade the general public to eat, since many people already eat leftovers for lunch already, and are on handy. They also sound the most appetizing out of the three, as I do not think that if you asked someone to eat bugs or leftovers, they would pick bugs. As well as this, most people are used to eating leftovers, because they are basically normal food, just made the night before. In addition, leftovers have a huge variety, as it is what someone has made for dinner, so it could be anything, and would be something the person likes.

Food waste is a serious problem as food waste leads to the emission of greenhouse gases and contributes to climate change. Food waste can be reduced by planning meals in advance and buying only what we need and also practicing proper food storage. There are many solutions, including:
    1- Pickled watermelon peel
2- Cut the toast, so if we have an old loaf of bread, we don't need to throw it away, and instead we can prepare it in the form of delicious toast.
3- stalks of leafy greens Instead of getting rid of the stalks of leafy greens, we can save the stalks and benefit from them, and also they help reduce food waste
4- Leaves of beets, carrots, radishes, and these vegetables are ignored by most people, although they are very useful. They are not only edible and nutritious, but they are also multi-use5- Fruit peel jam Instead of throwing fruit peels, we can take advantage of them as we preserve them and make delicious and delicious jam from them
6- Citrus peels, as citrus peels absorb unpleasant odors, so they are an excellent addition to home air fresheners.
You see, my friends, there are many ways to benefit from leftover food, including the ways I just described to you. Allow me to give you some advice and awareness: This much waste causes poverty and an urgent need for food. When food is wasted in this way, we will not have food to eat, and thus poverty will spread in Our country is unbelievably weak and thus the politics and economy of our country will weaken, then we will feel the value of these great treasures and we will understand that we have been wasted to a great extent, and then we will do our best to reach them and we will swim to the depths of the sea to reach these crystal treasuresAnd then we will preserve them well and take good care of them. My message to them is: I hope you will understand the value of these crystal treasures and that you will then understand what was the intention behind this famous proverb “Necessity is the mother of invention.”

I decide to have extras for lunch, for quite some time. The principal reason is on the grounds that extras are extremely helpful and you dont need to go purchase anything extra to have them for lunch. The subsequent explanation, which connects to the first, is you dont squander. All that food that is squandered could be utilized and eating, which not exclusively would help for setting aside cash, yet additionally for aiding environmental change. For each 3kg extra food that is discarded, 23kg are delivered as it rots. This 23kg could have a colossal effect to environmental change, saving not the simply the occupants, but rather additionally the planet. Thusly, the explanation it will assist with halting food squander is on the grounds that you don't have to discard food in case it isn't attractive ,and won't squander any cash or extra preparation. This could be extremely valuable in numerous ways.

I wouldnt pick the gorge on bugs, since I find messes with extremely ghastly and their surface is certifiably not an exceptionally charming one, by what I have seen/heard. Another explanation is a direct result of microorganisms, or toxic ones. First and foremost, they roll around in soil and on the ground , which means they have gathered a few microbes, which wouldnt be exceptionally solid. Besides, some can be toxic, or have harmful pieces of them, which means if you unintentionally or some way or another lamentably ate such one, you would get harmed. My last explanation is that I dont feel that bugs will take care of me as they are minuscule, and dont have a lot of taste. I have never eaten bugs, so this is according to my perspective, consequently I can't be 100% certain that they are boring.

Challenge: Finally to complete of, I feel that extras for lunch would be the least demanding to convince the overall population to eat, since many individuals as of now have extras for lunch as of now, and are on helpful. They likewise solid the most appealing out of the three, as I don't believe that if you requested that somebody eat bugs or extras, they would pick bugs. Just as this, the vast majority are accustomed to eating extras, since they are fundamentally ordinary food, just made the prior night. Likewise, extras have an enormous assortment, as it is the thing that somebody has made for supper, so it very well may be anything, and would be something the individual preferences.

Growing microbes in food is a good solution and plays a role in reducing heat emissions that contribute to mitigating the climate crisis.
To be sure, most are unable to understand the relationship between microbes and greenhouse gas emissions (climate change).
Well, microbes in food have a huge impact on climate change.
    OK (presumably).
Suppose I, the owner of the food product, put microbes in the food. Surely you will say that microbes will make me sick.
With that in mind, I'm going to make you change your point of view so that anything harmful can be turned into something useful, and you'll think about how to do it.
Well, because in my opinion, there is nothing in the world that does not have a double-edged effect, both beneficial and harmful, because there are many problems that have led to an increase in our awareness As a climate problem that we consider harmful, but has worked to raise awareness of the effects and actions that we do and affect the environment and how to preserve it And other problems such as the Corona virus pandemic that have worked to increase the preservation of our societies as well as ourselves.
The way leftovers eat food It is worth mentioning because wasting food has an impact on the environment and on food resources, because wasting food leads to wasting food, which leads to the spread of the problem of hunger. What is the problem with keeping leftovers and feeding them to people?
But you find that some people think that eating leftovers is humiliating and degrading.
Well, don't feed it to people. There are a lot of homeless animals. Leftovers can be collected and given to animal welfare organizations.
But what's wrong with eating leftovers? There are a lot of people do not find a living.
We can work on recycling it so that food is not like leftovers, but quality food with new ingredients, and because one can invent and invent new food ingredients from leftovers.
This is better than food going to landfill and rotting and producing gases that lead to increased emissions of greenhouse gases such as methane.
This is my view, but everyone has their own opinion.

I know that food, even a small amount, is a blessing, because one day you will not find it, so make sure of that.
As for insects, I shouldn't exaggerate and use them or put them inside food to prevent food waste or increase a person’s appetite for eating. It's normal that, because am I the one who discovered it or discovered its effect?! Or am I the one who did research on it?! But do I know enough information about it and its effect on my body?! Or do I know its harms and benefits?! Or am I (the scientist who recommends it or uses it)?!
    not me,
Therefore, caution must be taken when using anything recommended, because there may be motives and even differences between scientists that led to the spread of this invention or innovation or even the information issued by them, as it may result in diseases, viruses and environmental problems such as Corona disease for which scientists have not found a cure So far, the climate crisis that has not found a solution.
I know that around every invention there is an innovation that also has benefits and drawbacks .

The one that I would have would be the leftovers for lunch and the one I wouldn't do would be bing on bugs.
The reason for this is because food waste is a big problem so leftovers are a great solution. To me eating bugs seems gross and weird because i see bugs in the ground every day so eating them seems weird.

I would use microbes in meals because they are nutrition filled and can create a more global friendly way to cook and produce our food which is a massive contributor to climate change. Animal products use too much water to be sustainable and the amount of deforestation taking place to accommodate farming purely for livestock to eat is appalling. However there are drawbacks, fungi and other things like mosses are amazingly useful for breaking down dead plants and leaves which would poison and kill young plants without being broken down. If meat was replaced by fungi or mushrooms, there would be mass production as people start to require meat substitutes and more and more plants would not survive the decaying layer of dead leaves and plants.

I think that every problem has a solution, as the problem of food waste has a solution. Make a list of the things you need

1- Make sure to buy only what you need

While bulk shopping can be both cost and time efficient, it is not certain that you will use everything you will buy and you will end up throwing away not only food, but your money as well.

    2- Store food properly

This is the first and essential step in reducing food waste at home. Storing food properly in the refrigerator and in appropriate containers and jars will help you keep food fresh and ensure it does not rot.
    3- Always use the freezer

The freezer is one of the best ways to eliminate food waste, as you can put your leftovers in storage boxes and keep them until you use them again.

    4- Reuse leftovers

Use leftover tomatoes, zucchini, potatoes or carrots to make a delicious vegetable soup, or use an electric juicer to make a refreshing family drink from leftover fruit.

I think there are solutions to reduce food waste. There are many ways to mitigate the problem of food waste including shopping smartly by making a detailed shopping list of required ingredients and avoiding excessive buying - keeping an eye on the expiration date of food and putting new foods behind and old foods on top.
Don't throw away leftovers, as they can be used to prepare new meals, or stick to storing them in an appropriate way for reuse at a later time.

Not increasing the amount of food in the dish, so the person must put the amount he needs without increasing, this contributes to controlling the calories consumed and limits the amount of food that is wasted.
