Is it getting harder for governments to control what people see?

Watch this video. What do you think has happened? Find out more below it.

This is from one of Russia's independent news outlets, TV Rain.

Independent means they are not controlled by the government and so can report the truth.

They stopped showing news after a new law that threatens to jail anyone the Russian government think to have spread "fake" news on the war in Ukraine. This could allow the Russian government to spread more propaganda that influences what people think.

The channel ended its final broadcast by showing staff walking off set.

This law is an example of the Russian government trying to control what people see and hear.

In our age of technology, is it getting harder, or easier, for governments to control what people see and hear?

I think this because I think it is getting harder because in this present generation that is technologically advanced, the first task they would have would be to access the information first before being able to censor it and in my opinion, it would be a lot harder because of the existence of independent news firms that pass information a lot faster than in those days that the the news was centrally controlled by the government where they would be able to censor the information before the information is passed out. .

I think this because, in social media, everyone spread news and opinions, (regardless it's false or true) so, citizens will definitely see other informations so they will be less sure about what the government or the local news says, and might believe the information they saw on social media than the news of their country.

For example, a lot of Russian people read other people perspectives, and decided that their government was wrong, and chose to support the other side (Ukraine) based on what they saw, read or heard.

So, it's harder for governments to spread their thoughts as long as the media is more effective and has other thoughts.

At the present time, it is not easy to change people's opinions or their point of view towards a political matter, for several reasons.Firstly, spreading awareness among the people.Secondly, some political analysis interfer on social media.Thirdly, the citizen is contemporary with the circumstances that are being talked about, so he is able to deduce the truth by himself. Finally, people's knowledge of the policy followed by governments to obscure facts and influence people's opinions.

        Certainly
A person is becoming more aware of the things that are happening around him than before and people also have enough knowledge to understand all the things that are going on around them as well, I mean also to say that the awareness campaigns of people who are influential on social media and media sites have a great role in that.

I think this because through our age of technology people are exposed to various forms of information mostly through there mobile phones. One can just go to YouTube or even a news app and get diverse information, and sometimes they could be vague and they end up believing them even when the government wants them to know something relevant. And because of the fake news that are rampant currently and this makes the legit information get shunned. And they people they want to reach out to don't get to what they want them to know and are rather get deceived.

Because of the widespread of social media around the world, it becomes harder for governments to control what people hear and see. These days, It is logical to call the modern communication the gentle power which affects people's minds quieltly. For example, if one family sit in the same room and suddenly looks at each other, they can notice that everyone holds his mobile phone checking what goes around or browsing something he cares about. Although of the difficulty which faces government in controling people, they can build an electronic army to post and share the government's thoughts. Therefore, they invade humans' minds and plants their visions. This way, they create group of people who are brain washed and act as robots to serve the govenment's issues.

Well I think the government is making it easier to control what people see and hear despite the technology that we have. They have the power to control what we hear and see. At a particular point in time in my country the president put a temporary ban on twitter because the people where expressing their opinions about the current government. For example government owned television and radio stations can use propaganda to influence people in the society, especially the people in rural areas who depend on the television and radio they tend to believe the propaganda that is formulated by the government. Like the scenario that happened between Russia and Ukraine they are being controlled by the Russian government and the government is generally controlling what people say and hear because the Ukrainian government is under threat. Well what I think about all this is that the government is hindering the right of people to fair hearing and expression.

For me as a person I feel it is getting harder for the government to control what the people see and hear because even if the government block other media platforms like the radio station, newspapers, television, the government can't control the internet because things get viral quickly and before the government can control what has been posted, it's already too late. Also, the government is meant to guide and protect the people but lately the government is misusing its power and manipulating the people, now the people have started to know their basic human rights and have started to stand up to the government, though they may still be afraid. Hence, causing the government to lose their basic power over the people.

First, I hope you read it all and I chose easy
Because there are many people who are reckless about the problem, despite the presence of phones and social electronics to communicate, but they do not feel that a war has begun and will spread to many places.
But the ministry and social media is what makes it easy
Not to worry and stress, but even though I don't have a lot of ideas, I know that there will be a lot of trouble and fighting, and all because they want to expand their state
Why do they need all this, as their state is large and vast, but this is called greed.

I think it is about the same. It is easier for the government to control what people hear, see and say because they have the power to place bans and make threats. At the same time, it is getting harder for people to watch the news because they know that the government is starting to control almost every source of information. Most people nowadays do not rely completely on the news and news stations because most of it is just what the government wants people to hear and not what they have to know. This has made people depend on news the get from comments on social media or even little gossips they hear from their neighbors and because of this, people can no longer differentiate the real news from fake news. So even if the government should take actions to control fake or real news, they would not be able to control what people believe or the meaning the read into the news.

I feel like it is getting easier for the government to control what people see because of the ease at which government can place bans or laws against spreading certain news. Just like in the case of Russia, a law was passed that prevented people from spreading "false" news. As a result of the amount of control that the government has over news and TV stations, there are only a few independent media companies that against all odds, broadcast the truth but even independent companies many at times have been forced to stop broadcasting at some point due to bans and laws placed by the government. This is also the case in Nigeria, laws and bans have been placed to control what people hear. A ban was put on Twitter (a social media that provides lots of information) and it lasted for a period of over SEVEN MONTHS. It was banned in Nigeria because Twitter deleted a post that the President made to show the extent of power the government has over what its citizens see and hear.

On the other hand, I also feel it is getting harder for the government to control what people see because of the number of exposure people have nowadays. That is the level of technological advancement. Back in the day, the only source of information people had were the TV and radio stations that are heavily controlled by the government but now because of technological advancements, there are things such as the internet, blogs, wikis, social media technologies that enable people to get access to information to their heart's content and even post information about news, people's opinion on the news, or even personal experiences and encounters people have faced for others to see.

The ease of controlling what we see and hear lies in the government’s ability to control what comes to us. Governments monitor the content that is carried by many means, and looking at technology and development, they seek to make societies keep pace with development and at the same time maintain many aspects that affect ethics and sensitive matters in the state. Perhaps many countries control the internal and external media and do not pay attention to the criticism directed at them. Rather, they are moving forward in the interest of the state and accomplish and preserve its plans. Perhaps now we are faced with the negative things that Tik Tok holds, as some countries such as Bangladesh and Indonesia worked to ban this The program, because it broadcasts immoral and inappropriate videos that touches the morals of society and weakens it. Such a step is taken by the state to avoid an external danger that seeks to spread corruption in the segments of society, so that states have defined what we hear and watch to protect us and themselves from difficult consequences that affect us and our future Perhaps, from my personal point of view, I support this surveillance in order to protect ourselves and build an impenetrable fortress against external threats.

The person himself must be able to distinguish the bad content from the useful content broadcast by some programs, so he can protect himself by himself and not be drawn into the immoral videos that he may acquire and have an impact on society (such as a poison that harms eating it), the person must be Open-mindedness and perception and to put his morals and principles on top of his priorities to protect himself

I said about the same amount.
I think this because many countries have the power to broadcast in their country only what they approve, whether this be TV, radio or social media, and broadcast only what supports the government. However, people who only watch what their government wants them to, might begin to wonder if what they see is really the truth, and what would the other side of the story look like.

While Russia continues to build up its military on the Ukrainian border, it is also trying to control the media narrative about the crisis, but which chapter of that narrative falls under the category of disinformation? The Russian media has a history of promoting sensational content and dubious allegations that portray Ukraine in a negative light. Well, Russia has a lot of media that appears on most phones and smart devices of any kind, and publishes news that may not be true and people hear it from all parts or even on television in remote, remote places that use the television only to know the news, it has no Any way but to believe what they see in front of them. Activity on accounts spreading pro-Russia propaganda increased dramatically in November of last year, according to research from anti-disinformation group Mythos Labs.

This month, these accounts were tweeting about Ukraine 213 times a day, on average.

One tactic, the researchers note, was to share material from non-Russian voices with views aligned with Moscow's position.
By this, they have misled people's thinking and saw that Russia is the good and Ukraine is the bad, and thus they have controlled what the people hear and see, and this reduces the opinion of the entire people.🤷‍♀️

If they want to destroy the government, they will spread the matter widely And my world so that the whole world knows about their mistakes, meaning with the push of a button from the people now, it may destroy the entire government

Technology has certainly made the transmission of information easier, but the problem is that it actually transmits all the information, whether it is true or false. Rumors abounded, and some confused what to believe. Not all aspects are reliable, others believe that what they see is true if it agrees with their ideas, and news can spread. Hurry up according to the way it is narrated, its writer, its justifications, and the percentage of realism in it, even if it is wrong.
Some may take advantage of the situation for their own personal interests. Although communication has become easier, it has become less credible and more talkative.

I think that the advancement of technology and the publication of all news by the mass media can be with or against the government. how ? Being good for the government means that anything that government officials want to the general public can be published, especially since everyone is following all social media and the media, so anything that is in the interest of the government can be published, including works and achievements... Thus, people know about the achievements and actions of the government. But to be against them means that there are people who are against the government or who do not like its system, that they wait for anything that the government publishes or works on the ground, they republish and interpret it according to their desire and it is possible for the general people to make a revolution just for the sake of This is true or not. Governments can control everything that is downloaded on the Internet, for example, on the Facebook application, they delete anything that contradicts the law or violates the powers Nowadays, in the Ukraine-Russia war, the Russian government deletes any video footage of the bombing and aggression against Ukraine, and this is all for its own good. For example, what are the applications that people use the most in study, work and entertainment are Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat and YouTube, and then through them make an advertisement or advertisement through a short video that is interesting or influences them, but They have to be completely certain and one hundred percent correct news.. for example in my country when it was the time of the Corona pandemic when our president warned not to leave the house until we preserve ourselves and not to harm others through small propaganda on the mobile or the news channels on our channels How do you control people? They had a meeting with a great doctor and talked about what would happen if a person was infected with the Corona pandemic and how to prevent it and how not to be infected or be wary of it greatly.. and also take a sample of the Corona virus under an electronic microscope and how it affects people and through this meeting people confirmed and controlled the news.

    The hypocrisy of the West
The spectacle of war, any war, is abhorrent, especially as innocent civilians bear the heavy brunt of war. The situation between Russia and Unkrain brings back the crisi betwwen Israel and Palestine. The government of the attacking country get use of propaganda to show thw world its justifications for starting the war. The Palestinian people, especially in Gaza, know too well what war means after 4 devastating Israeli wars on Gaza.
The Russian intervention in Ukraine, while unacceptable by any moral standard, only exposes the moral hypocrisy of Western leaders who spoke with moral clarity against so-called 'Russian' aggression against a sovereign country, but many failed to show the same moral compass in condemning the occupation's brutal war machine and violations against the Palestinian people in Gaza. So, yes the governments can control people's thinking, dominate their thoughts and affect their attitudes roward the political situation between Russia ans Ukrain. The world must not show silence in this crisis. Propaganda can manipulate the realieties for the sake of the countries specially if it shows great dominance like Russia.

'I think the government can control people's minds and control them only when the government values public opinion or until people really like it'
So they can do what the government asks because what it says is itself purely of public interest or the general public, or maybe it's just the truth in the current situation.
There are also countries and governments on the contrary, they implement what they want, only the opinion of the people has no value in confronting the general leadership and the government.
Also, the public can actually see various news on various sites, including what is true or even rumor, a lie.
So this weakens the power of their belief and confidence in the government.

1>Is it harder or easier for governments to control what people see and hear? It is difficult, due to the multiplicity of social media, platforms and anti-Russian media; Because of the imposition of sanctions on the Russian media by the United States of America and some European countries. Also, in the past, the only source of information owned by people was television and radio stations, which were heavily controlled by the government in the past, but at present it is difficult for the government to control what people see because of the lack of exposure that people are exposed to at the present time. Certainly the government can control the news and the truth, especially the most powerful government.

For example: My country Palestine is an occupied country.
It is true that we have a resistance..but the occupation is much stronger than us in terms of "equipment and weapons", so it controls the lives of our people, including (the media)....
The occupation presents the world with a false and contradictory picture of what it is doing to the Palestinian people. He prevents Palestinian television and radio stations from revealing much of the true picture of his crime. Journalists and television are concealing the truth because it threatens to stop or destroy the television station or even arrest and attack journalists, and this is exactly what is happening in Ukraine and Russia, where Ukraine is threatening to tell the truth, and Russia is deliberately destroying the media because at the moment it is exposing it and transmitting its criminal image to the world. The media of the stations of the occupying country: He always wants to convey some kind of truth to the world, especially the "free" stations that are outside the control of the government.... However, the occupying government warns the media by conveying its ugly image. Many journalists of the occupation and Palestinian journalists have revolted, but the occupation authority and its threat prevent the freedom of the press and the right of the people and the world to know the truth, and this is what is happening with Russian media professionals such as Russian TV. "the rain" ..
They want to show the whole truth to the world, but the Russian government prevents them from doing so to serve its interests.
In the end, I would like to say: if Russia and the occupation of Palestine were "confident in themselves and what they are doing, they will not be afraid of the truth." When a person does an act against the law, he remains afraid that someone will reveal it, but when he acts legally, he is confident in himself, without making arguments. .

I believe that the media has a role to play in influencing people's minds and that the media only shows us what they want to show us, not the truth .
Where I read an article, in which Putin said that he did not want to harm the Ukrainian people, that he only wanted conscripts and overthrow the repressive government, and that he could not bomb them because Ukrainian soldiers used the Ukrainian people as human shields, and he clearly showed this to the Ukrainian people; to incite them against their government, later Putin bombed a maternity hospital in Mariupol, causing a number of injuries, some mothers were damaged and this affected newborn babies, and this news did not spread enough; because the media and the Russian government prevented its spread.
Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said،"Russian aviation has never carried out any mission to hit targets on the ground in the Mariupol region," he said, adding that"the supposed air strike is a play orchestrated to maintain anti-Russian sentiment in Western public opinion."
I also believe that he said this to discredit the Ukrainian government in front of its people and to win the Ukrainian people on their side, after which the Ministry of World Health confirmed that the Russian military bombed 18 health facilities in Ukraine, one of which was a children's hospital .
The media also have a role in spreading false news and rumors aimed at incitement, I have seen a video on TikTok, in which it is written that Russian soldiers laugh and mock Ukraine, show off their army and military forces, and filmed throwing missiles at Ukraine, which made some Ukrainians insult the Russians with comments, although there is no evidence to prove that they were Russian soldiers.
The video was even voiceless, the speech was written by a translator, but later it turned out that they were non-Russian soldiers, and I believe that the author of this video achieved the goal of spreading hatred between the Ukrainian and Russian peoples .

I feel that it is even at both ends because on the side of the government they can control the regulation and spread of information by passing laws against spreading news that will affect or expose their dirty secrets or the truth and also make sure the laws favor false news making others especially their haters or people who speak against the government carry their sins. When these types of laws are passed, the people tend to look for others ways to find the truth even if it means breaking the laws which may lead to protest and mob action thus causing the government react either by punishing them, or silencing them using harsh, forceful or unorthodox means.
The government can also practice nepotism by putting people of their choice in strategic places such as press houses to control what the people hear and think. The citizens can also notice this and begin to murmur and accuse the government of hiding their dirty linens which leads to the citizens losing trust in their leaders. So it is getting harder for the government to withhold information and also getting easier for the citizens to find because of social media outlets and many others. Everyone is either determined to hide or find secrets and if this continues it will lead to catastrophic consequences which might even extend to the loss of innocent lives.

Every government can control the opinions of its people and the news that is circulated, and it can eliminate false news and delete it before it is published to the people, and this is very easy despite the development of technology in this time Because the government is able to link cooperation with social media applications and place a ban on accounts that publish news that harms the government and issues any News that does not correspond to the type of news that the government wants to show to the people, even if it is true In recent days I worked Ukraine is forming a group of "hackers" who are programmers working to hack accounts and delete news. Of course, the reason behind forming these teams is Russia's publication of false propaganda .
But didn’t you ever wonder if this war was a hoax? Everyone knows that Russia’s technological, militarily and economic strength exceeds that of Ukraine, yet Ukraine is “in the middle of the arena” and has everyone’s support, even though Russia can flood social media with false news to win hearts the world and support and stop the world with it?! Why didn't even me do this? I think there is a hidden reason that the world does not know !!

    I said About the same
I think this because On one hand it is easier for government to control what people see and hear for example in the face of unrest, government can shut down the internet as a last resort to control the flow of information and then prevent a great upraising of violence which will help save lives and properties. There are times the government can use their power to overshadow an ordinary citizen’s right to speak on social media or be heard for instance in Nigeria, the government placed a ban on a popular social media platform (Twitter) for months, same thing is happening in Russia where there is a threat of arresting anyone who spreads controversial post on the media (what they call fake news). This in turns scares people from airing their views concerning a particular matter, people end up using the media for entrainment and business purposes. On the other hand it is getting harder for the government to control what people see and hear because of the way news is spread on social media using social media tools like Whatsapp and Facebook as a case study. We are aware of the government’s effort to monitor communication and spread of information, we have also noticed that people have a way of always circumventing the government’s order as seen in the case of the Twitter ban in Nigeria. During the ban some citizens resorted to using VPN (Virtual Private Network) which made them able to continue to tweet and spread information on twitter.

        Tom @ Topical Talk's comment 15 Mar 2022

Virtual Private Network (VPN) is a technology that can make the internet believe that the user is in a different country. What it does is to give you access to change your IP address to that of any another country where the network is good and has no ban placed on it. For example if the IP address of your country is 190.324.86, when you change to another country using VPN, your IP address will change to 154.09.534 , this IP address is dependent on the country you change it to hence making the user untraceable. VPN can be used in countries where the government tries to control the local internet communication and content as was obtainable in Nigeria during the Twitter ban.

I think this because It is getting harder for the government to control what people see and hear because people on the social media could still find a way to make post on current happenings in a place for example the use of VPN (Virtual Private Network) during the Twitter ban in Nigeria made people basically untrackable by the government. With the use of VPN, more people made post that on a normal basis would upset the government because most times it is the truth. In my opinion, even upon the ban the government could not control what news people heard and passed on.

I think it's easier, because people's beliefs and minds have become unstable because they see many false propaganda and evidence without searching for the truth or even trying, and it may also be due to the fact that people are afraid of their governments because of the many threats - such as the Russian President's law with imprisonment if anyone tries Spreading false (and possibly true) news - which pressures people into submission or belief easily.

I think this because It is getting easier for government to control what the people hear or say especially on the news. A comparison between our local channels go a long way to show that what is happening is not always what we see on the news; bringing the international news channels into the picture makes it all clearer. For instance when insurgences started in Nigeria, what was shown on the international televisions was entirely at variance with what our own local stations showed. One of the foreign channels made a broad about the insurgences in Nigeria, the government considered it to be fake and inappropriate and they were made to apologize the government. This goes a long way to show the power the government has in controlling what we see and hear. On the other hand I must say it is getting harder for the government to control what people see and hear because of the different social media apps, platforms and the many access people have to such, news are readily and easily spread, one example is how stories of mishap in my locality are quickly shared even before the government goes ahead to make a statement. Sometimes the community is thrown into chaos as a result of these widespread videos or messages that are transferred from one social media group to another.

" war is a trick " Russia’s war against Ukraine is a psychological war. Russia publishes propaganda full of threats directed at Ukraine and the rest of the countries. Russia is trying to spread panic in the government and people of Ukraine by threatening to launch a nuclear missile. The results of these threats are a point that Russia has won. All the conferences in which Putin appeared were not without threats, not any A threat, rather an explicit and clear threat. Putin every time he tries to show the world the extent of his power and control. I do not deny that. Putin plays with the nerves of the countries of the world with his threats and statements that he does not care what will happen to the world if a third world war breaks out. Putin every time he says that he will destroy the world With the nuclear he possesses, but he will not do this, Putin only uses threatening propaganda to spread panic and fear in the hearts of peoples.

I think the media and social media platforms have all the influence on what people see and they have no choice but to believe, so I'm going to show you a story that sums up what I want to talk about. So when Anastasia woke up last February 24 in the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, to the sound of sirens, I knew How would her parents react?

She said: "My mother was the first person I called when I jumped out of bed at five in the morning feeling disoriented. She was surprised when I called and seemed really calm almost normal."

Waking up, Anastasia, the BBC's Ukraine correspondent who moved to Kyiv 10 years ago, was worried about where she would be bombed next.

Anastasia and her cat were displaced from home

She added: "I called my mother again and told her that I was afraid, and she said reassuringly: 'Don't worry, the Russians will never bomb Kyiv.'"

Anastasia replied but they had already bombed her, and "I told her there were civilian casualties".
"But that's what we also faced when Ukraine attacked the Donbas region," said the mother, laughing.

"I couldn't breathe for a moment," says Anastasia, "hearing my mother say it so harshly broke my heart."

Anastasia believes that the image created by the Russian media is that of the "glorious Russian army" ridding Ukraine of the Nazis. Anastasia, for years, avoided political discussions with her parents, but this time she hung up the phone to her mother.

We spoke to Anastasia when she was traveling away from Kyiv after spending 4 nights in a bomb shelter. She was looking at the future with skepticism.

"A lot of questions come to my mind like what will happen to all of us? Where are things going? Will I go back? Will I ever see my parents again? I still love them so much but something inside of me is broken and I don't think it can ever be fixed," Anastasia says.
You see what the communication platforms and the media have done that made a mother not believe that her daughter is in danger and do not fear for her. I hope you have understood the seriousness of the situation.🤷‍♀️🙏

Well, if there was a third option: that the government is able and not able to control what people see and hear, despite the technological development that exists in the world,I would have chosen it.
    And I said that because:
    1) The government is able to control what people see and what they hear, because I believe it is the one that publishes news and tries to publish it in a way that improves its appearance so that people believe it.
For example, as is happening in my country now, people on Facebook express their opinions about the government’s decisions, whether they are wrong or something like that, and the government deletes these comments before anyone sees them to go after and publish and improve its reputation in front of the people and make them believe what it tells them. And also the media has a role in This thing, but we say some media professionals do this, meaning that the media people listen to what they are told by the government, and therefore broadcast and publish all the news that the government says.
    2) The government is not able to control what people see and hear, because man has become more aware of what is happening around him. In the old days, man relied on his sources of information and news from television, but today there has been a qualitative leap in technology, so news is broadcast when it happens and from different sides And there are also social networking sites where people see everything that is happening, and all decisions taken by the government happen on the live broadcast.
Today, man knows what he is doing and thinking about such things that may happen anywhere in many ways, including meeting people with experience and knowledge more about such things.

Now it is easy for the government in the world to control what we see and hear through the internet . They can ban people on social media sites, make a state internet network and monitor phones . a As in North Korea, phones are monitored and people are controlled there. I don't know how . But it's miserable to control what appeared on TV, and everyone who makes calls outside the country is punished. I think they are very strict matters. We in our country do not do such things because we believe in intellectual freedom and others .

Everything becomes easy with the power and authority. Governments are unfortunately making use of their power to manipulate the truth and control the lives of people. Nothing and no one can stand against it. Let me give you an example from my poor town Gaza, here if you spread any post or news or ideas or even say your opinion about the armed political party who controls the city, you will be punished or called for invistigation. Your twitter account may be blocked, and your facebook account can be easily hacked. This happen for the puplic people or civilians, they are not allowed to express their opinion and or support any other political party or government. What about journalists, news reporters, opponents or media influencers on social media?
Well, sorry to tell you that, they can be legally judjed if they stand against the party. No freedom here , you have to believe and support all what this party says or does, orelse you will lose many things.

I think that it is easy for the government to control what people see and hear, and the biggest example of this is “Russia”, meaning that the president has been prohibited from publishing any news except for reliable news channels!!
But the question is, is this true?
Yes, at a time like this “war” the people must be silent and not publish any news, whether it is true or false, because if it is false, it will spread corruption, and if it is true, it may lead to a serious problem. A person may be publishing something true and “simple” but it For a certain group, it is something “that should not be disclosed,” especially in war..!

But at the same time, the government is unable to control what people see and hear..!
Especially if the news comes from social media sources.
    "Tik Tok" "Instagram" "Facebook"...etc!
That is, people publish information about the news, people's opinion of the news, or even personal experiences..!

When the governments feel that danger is coming closer and closer and will influent their people opinions,  definitely they will not standing idly by, They will use all their capabilities to stop that danger
For example: the restrictions are a window on how Russia wants to control the pictures of its invasion of Ukraine to it's own citizens and unpopular steps such as: slowing and potentially cutting off access to Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, the Kremlin is willing to take.
Not far away, The United States the dreams country controls what people see, the simple example of what iam talking about: Fox News channel and CNN channel it is obvious that the two channels are broadcasting news according to what the ruling party wants and desires
Here at the middle east, you will clearly notice the big difference between Aljazeera channel and Alarabiya channel in broadcasting news especially the war that happened in Gaza Strip last summer .

I also feel it is getting harder for the government to control what people see because of the number of exposure people have nowadays. We are aware of the government’s effort to monitor communication and the spread of information, we have also noticed that people have a way of always circumventing the government’s order as seen in the case of the Twitter ban in Nigeria. During the ban, some citizens resorted to using VPN (Virtual Private Network) which made them able to continue to tweet and spread information on Twitter.

In developed societies and our technological age, the ability to control what people see and hear by the government can change, but I will answer you in a simple way
I consider that the news that we hear and people see is an angry crowd. The government seeks to extinguish this crowd, but it can extinguish it, or it is possible that this crowd will revolt and turn against the government. I think it is easy and at the same time difficult for governments to control what people see and hear in this era because This era is the era of development, sophistication and technology. There are social networking sites that publish fake and real news, the Internet, and social networks.
It's easy for the government to control what people see and hear. For example, what the Nigerian government has done is to ban Twitter from people expressing their opinions. The current government. What the Russian government did was to ban everyone, so the president banned the publication of news, except for trusted channels.
I think that the matter is getting more difficult with every development and progress in our societies, even if the government bans publishing news and bringing applications, it will leak because we are in the age of development and technology, so communication sites vary from Facebook, Twitter, Tik Tok and Instagram.
I think that news is a double-edged sword used by the government. Either it is against it, but it is beneficial for it, and this is what we see at the present time.

It has certainly become easier for governments to control what people see, so they use the art of selecting underused words or words that arouse user curiosity. They create electronic armies to prepare public opinion. This technology has become called electronic flies. As a result, most of the news circulated on social networking sites is false and fabricated. Governments also block social networking sites or create an application specific to their country that serves its goals. For example, in 2017, the Iranian government banned the Telegram application and replaced it with a locally made application after it was stopped permanently for national security reasons and because of its role in the protests that the country witnessed at that time. In Turkey, the Turkish government blocked YouTube, and the same thing happened in Pakistan after the YouTube platform refused to delete a political video related to the regime. The Minister of Communications and Information Technology in Egypt announced that there will be an Egyptian Facebook application soon. On the other hand, it has become more difficult for governments to control what people believe, so we find that they do not believe what governments publish, and this type applies to the saying (people only believe what they see) At the same time, there is a group that believes the government in everything it publishes and does not oppose the government in any way. We find that this group was either subjected to the methods of coercive persuasion that (Robert Jay Lifton) spoke about in his writings, or was brainwashed without realizing it. This conclusion reached by Lifton and Which is one of his most important conclusions and says (the brainwashed person is attacked with his feels to end up changing his thoughts and beliefs)

How many comments do you have to bring out before you can get a star . In terms of numbers.

Hi amicable_fig. We don't award stars for the amount of comments someone contributes. Instead, we award stars for the quality of someone's ideas. We look for clear explanations, new ideas and a balance of facts and opinions.

It is harder because some people even listen to the president speech is difficult. Why? because the president when they want us to vote for, let us say a party for instance (NPP) Ghana they will say many things e.g construction of rough roads, free education, free feeding etc. But when they get the position, they will not be justice and forget all what they said. Free education is in Ghana but still some people suffering, So it is very difficult and hard for the government to control people.

The conventional idea holds that politician can't be trusted to keep their promises yet decades of research across numerous advanced democracies shows opposite. In truth, political parties reliably carry out the bulk of their compaign.

It easy for the government to Control what the people see and hear by isolating them from the outside world and making them live a life without technology but it is difficult for the government to control what the people see and hear if they have the resolve, determination and courage to resist the government because the government can Control the technology but it cannot Control its own people while they are at war with Ukrain.

Yes, I think governments control the media.
Russia has restricted many media outlets, blocking many of them in order to control the narrative, as each side wants to be the only one to deal with what is happening on the battlefield, presenting the arguments and justifications it deems necessary to win the sympathy of public opinion and stand by it.
After recent decisions that severely restricted media freedoms and restricted access to platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and others in Russia, it has become difficult to hear what contradicts the official version of what is happening in Ukraine, under control, and heavy censorship of the media, a narrative that contradicts the Kremlin's version of the media landscape in Russia, dominated by the media propaganda of the Kremlin War.

I find it easy for the government to control what people see and hear, because it imposes a ban on certain news or sources that attack it and contradict its political goals, as is the case in Russia, where it imposed a law that prevents people from spreading false news.
The government's control of television and news stations has also reduced the existing media companies that publish and present the facts.
But this does not prevent the difficulty of this matter on the other hand, because in the past, people depended on television and radio to know the news, but now various social media has developed that enables people to access and know the facts. Also, because of people’s knowledge of the government’s policy to mislead and falsify facts, in addition to the current spread of awareness campaigns.

It's harder for the government to control what we see and hear because in our various homes each individual is likely to watch any TV channel and also listen to any radio station there by making it difficult for the government to control what we watch. Again since some media men would want to corrupt news about the government due to political party interference ,thereby distablizing the nation sometimes and also putting fear in the citizens!

Well,I that the government is making it easier for people to see.I chose this answer because governments have all the power in their country and they control on what people can see.For an example, there was a app called Twitter where you could talk and chat about stuff and then that app was banned in China, Iran, Myanmar, North Korea, Russia and Turkmenistan just because government didn't want people to see what is happening and doesn't want people to know lots of information. After the ban some people used VPN also know as Virtual Private Network which means they still were able to send and post information and this tells me that people or citizens want to know all this information and are curious.

But on the other hand,I also do think that it is getting harder. The reason is because in the old days people only had radios and TV and that was the only source of information and the government had huge control of it.But now,we have like internet, blogs, wikipedias and also social media that allows people to see information and encounters or even people's experiences. Now that the is these apps people can see information and even post them have see the news and see people's opinions on the news.
