This is like a double-edged sword. Celebrities are less aware of people's conditions, and thay are less aware of what is happening in the world, because they are isolated and occupied with the art they present, and they are not aware of political matters or what an ordinary person feels, so it may be better not to interfere in political matters , As for the second limit, we know that people are affected by celebrities a lot and their view of things can change based on their love for celebrities. If a celebrity supports one of the two parties, many people will support it without even thinking. As for my point of view: I do not support interference Celebrities in political life, as long as they do not study it well, it is possible to take the wrong side, this not only affecting their thinking, but also the thinking of many of those around them.

Life proves to us that any simple word can affect the minds of many, celebrities can talk about politics if they are competent in it, if they know what politics really is and are sure of what they say as the truth, especially celebrities are the most effect on people and their thinking in all regions of the world , Do not forget that Zelensky was a comedian in the past, but he was now able to lead an entire country and entered politics. This proves that celebrities can enter politics as long as they know which side they stand with, but the question is how can they distinguish the truth so that stand with her ?

My response to Mark Wahlberg is: I disagree
I have said this because I feel like they can also make a lot of propaganda, a celebrity can be wrong but just because he/she is a major influencer the masses switch over to their side. Also I do not feel like they are genuinely interested in joining they just want more fame than they do already.

If influence is the issue then politicians themselves shouldn't be able to speak about politics Most of the arguments here say that celebrities can influence the gullible.

I do not agree with him. I say this because every person has the right to freedom of speech and expression and saying someone should stay out of politics just because he/she is a celebrity is not right.

Many celebrities who involve in politics usually face a lot of discrimination. They get a lot of eye rolls and calls to "stick to performing". I know of celebrities that have suffered criticism for talking actively in politics.

An example can be seen when Taylor Swift endorsed Democratic candidates in Tennessee ahead of the 2018 US midterm elections, she was met with this exact kind of reaction. Conservative talking-head Charlie Kirk tweeted this in response to Taylor’s first foray into political commentary: “What I used to love about Taylor Swift is she stayed away from politics.”

This is a form of bias against celebrities. You can't say that because they are famous they should keep their mouth shut about things that go on in politics. I feel this is wrong and they should be allowed to have their say in politics. After all, the government is FOR the people, BY the people and OF the people according to former President Abraham Lincoln.

Celebrities have a positive influence on people of the society so if they voice out their opinion on what they think it is going to have a great influence on people in the society because celebrities are one of the most influential people in the world. Another reason I disagree is because most celebrities experienced having a normal life before they became famous so voicing out their opinion adds a great deal to the society. Most celebrities voice out their opinion through, interviews, social media ( where followers can see what they have voiced out), speech and doing a campaign.

My response to Mark Wahlberg is: I disagree
I have said this because Celebrities are REGULAR humans and citizens who have gained fame for doing something . No country in the world is in support of political apathy because the views of each and every citizen of a country matter. Although the opinions of celebrities might carry more weight than those of the average citizen and also have the tendency of influencing a large group of people( fans in this case), celebrities should still refuse to be apathetic towards the political workings of their countries because they are still citizens and are still equal to every other citizen in the eyes of the law. Every citizen has the right to vote for anyone they wish and the fact that someone is a celebrity is no excuse for taking the right to vote of that person away.

@motivated_camel you raise a nice point but I think you have started to answer another question - celebrities still have the right to vote and have a political opinion. If a celebrity voices their political opinion publicly what influence might that have on their fans? Would the outcome be good or bad? Explain

      1. British Council.jpg motivated_camel | Rhemaville Christian Academy | Nigeria
        Alex @ KPMG's comment 05 Apr 2022

Well I earlier stated that the publicly expressed views of a celebrity would be have more influence than the average person and I think almost everyone would agree with me. However, if celebrity voices out his or her opinions, the outcome depends purely on the motives of that particular celebrity. For example if a celebrity were to make a post about a political opinion which isn't really backed by facts, most fans who read it would end up absorbing and integrating these wrong opinions into their every day lives; In this case, the expression of opinions of celebrities could be seen as having a negative impact. However, if a celebrity makes valid comments(which are backed by facts) on certain political issues, he or she would be making a positive impact by enlightening the millions of fans that would read or hear such comments about true political happenings; this is an example of a way that the expression of political views by celebrities could have positive impact. For the sake of elaboration, I will cite a well researched example: Hitler was an extremely gifted orator who knew what his audience wanted to hear and how to package it. In essence, he was a celebrity. The destructive power than can be harnessed from the wrong opinions of just one man is clearly depicted in how Adolf Hitler wrongly used his influence leading to the deaths of about 70 to 85 million people from different countries around the world.
A common saying popularized by the Spider-Man series is, "with great power comes great responsibility". Celebrities should be made to realized that their popularity comes with the great power to influence the thought of millions around the world and this great power comes with the responsibility of ensuring that when they voice out their opinions, these opinions should be passed through an objective lens to ensure that their political opinions are based on facts and not just personal feelings

My response to Mark Wahlberg is I agree. But only to an extent. Why you may ask? Take for example America.
There are only a few Hollywood celebrities who would willingly decide to live outside the comfort and luxuries of Hollywood Hills. Therefore, I agree with him, in the sense that most Hollywood actors are enclosed in the luxuries accompanied with living in Hollywood Hills. Therefore, their political scope on the real happenings would be very myopic.
I think that the best way for a celebrity to give an accurate opinion on politics would be if he or she should live a day or at least a week in the life of an average American citizen and then he or more preferably she would be able to understand what it is like to have a taste of both worlds.

  • British Council.jpg incredible_trumpet | Rhemaville Christian Academy | Nigeria
    31 Mar 2022

I agree with him strongly because for an individual to be into the Hollywood industry him/her would definitely have to be a politician. From time to time they have to change their personality to another one either they are hiding from paparazzi or shooting a movie or for particular events or to even keep a particular profile this all would lead to them forgetting themselves and living a lie and that is what most politicians do. The issue about them telling the public who to vote for is also wrong, yes they are allowed to voice out their opinions but as they do this they should not forget that they are influencers especially on the social media so they should bear in mind that what they say would definitely pose either negative or positive effects to the society.
On the other hand I disagree especially due to the fact some actors/actress have been into politics so they would definitely know how the game is played and would want to show others who have no idea how is is done. On another note before this individuals entered the spotlight they where once normal citizens who faced same struggles and aspirations, yes they may have more fame and money than others but that would not make them inhuman. Freedom to speech is a fundamental human right and not allowing them participate or exercise their right to speak is violation to them and the law.
Everyone has their opinion but in my best thought celebrities should definitely be allowed to speak about political issue especially when it affects them directly but at the same time they should regulate their interference even though its good to speak out make sure it is neutral and not showing sides which can stir up arguments they should critically think of the impact it would make and weigh both sides.

I would really like to commend Mark Wahlberg for this comment. I mean, that is something you don't see everyday. People (actors and actresses) who have attained a very high social status like him tend to forget what it was like living a normal life without fame and without riches. They tend to forget that they were once like that young good fellow who would always go out everyday to see he\she could make ends meet, to see how he or she could provide for their family. I agree strongly with him. Celebrities shouldn't talk about who people should vote for because they have no idea what those people are going through in their lives
Particularly to the celebrity who does so, if needed he\she should speak for him or her own self.

Celebrities have a great impact on many societies, and there are a lot of people who take some celebrities as role models and are affected by their words, but at the same time there will be a great responsibility on the celebrities who will talk about politics, as they must take the ban on what they speak to match the reality of the people and they have to take into account the credibility of And their opinions are realistic so that they have a positive impact on people.

    I disagree with his opinion
I have said this because Celebrities are influencers on younger people. They act as a role model to younger generations and should therefore be encouraging them to talk about how politics affects them and their everyday lives for example, voting and local councils. Without a role model to look up to, younger people wouldn't be bothered about taking part in politics that could change their lives. Considering generations of young people are now starting to voice their opinions surrounding politics and how countries are run, it only seems fitting that celebrities and influences take to social media and share their opinion and advertise it on their platforms which usually have large followings.

They can be well_ educated persons or artists, politicians who have a great cultural background. They can be a role model for others and many of their fans are considering them as ideal persons for them.So why not they share the politics? Well, I don't think so, because we have the right to participate in politics, whether we are what we want, even if we are celebrities. Celebrities should not stray from politics. Politics When trying to find an accurate, official and accurate definition of politics, we will face many problems and obstacles, and that obstacle lies in whether we want to define this term Considering that it is a human or academic activity, or as a political science, or political science, and some believe that the attempt to search for the truth about how humans exercise power can be completely separate from the actual activity of seeking to exercise this power. Yes celebrities are suppose to stay in politics because everyone has the right to talk and the celebrities are also citizens in the country. They can even say good things that may help the government. Many people will argue that celebrities should involve themselves in politics because they have the right to do everything they want to do. The celebrities has the right to his or her own beliefs. But they should do it responsible. In your opinion, why is he talking about politics? ? Until he loses his prestige and fame, or even gets punished for speaking about politics, or even loses the love of people, I will admit that as a famous person, I am selfish and fearful of losing my place.
As information (in order to talk about a policy, you must taste its bitterness, and people who are subjected to injustice have the right to speak and express their opinion)

I disagree of celebrities getting involved in politics....
    well, why?
Politics is a very sensitive matter, and we cannot interfere with it however we want, because it bears many sensitive matters such as: wars and the killing of human souls. We certainly know that celebrities are role models for many people from all over the world, so their influence on people's thinking will be clear, also celebrities did not study politics, right! The singer is able to sing and the actor is able to act... What is he doing in politics? We have to leave politics to the people who can handle it and distinguish the truth from others, so that they spread the right way. Celebrities' lives are completely different from us, they are not like ordinary people, they are not like those who lost their father, or suffered from the horrors of war. Celebrities can support the party they want politically, but indirectly, for example: they wear a uniform of solidarity with Ukraine .. Or in other forms ....

Celebrities, play vital roles in society, most people want to be like them some people even want to be them, to me a celebrity is the most influential person in society, a celebrity has an opinion towards every motion and is highly supported by his/her fans.
A celebrity in politics could be beneficial or detrimental, it could be beneficial that the celebrity is already an important societal figure and can therefore influence any political motif toward his/her favor, it could also be detrimental because just as we know politics it holds a lot of disadvantages if the celebrity supports a motion that ends up worsening the people's current situation, it could really tarnish the celebrities image and that of the state.
Left to me politics should be left to be handled by the professionals and not celebrities.

I think that celebrities may have the power to in jnfluence and affect people, so they can be effective in the life if politics. Let us take the example of president Donald Trump who was a comedian actor before fully getting involoved in politics and being a real president. Another similar example is Zelensky who was a comedian in the past, but now he is able to lead an entire country. This proves that celebrities can enter politics as long as they know which side they stand with and how, where and when they can use their power.

Celebrities can be better and even more effective in politics more that politicians themselves. They can be good presentatives and effective influencers. They have a full right to share their opinions, practise politics and defend their demands as normnal citizens. No one has the right to deprive them of their freedom. So what is said that celebrities sholuld not share politics is completely wrong and inaccurate.

HE: Not sure on Mark Wahlberg; Simply because any person other than a celebrity can enter politics as long as he knows which side he is on.

In fact, the comedian in the past (Zelensky) became the head of state of Ukraine and is now able to lead an entire country and enter politics. This fact proves that a lot of celebrities did, do, and should talk about politics. The main reason is: that everyone is free to express their opinions, and the right to freedom of speech and expression, and to say that someone should stay away from politics just because he is a celebrity is not right. Although Mark Wahlberg can't force these celebrities to talk about politics if they want to stay out of it because the world of politics can cause controversy, (not to worry).

There are many companies and channels that set conditions in their contracts with their employees and employers, including not talking about political situations and not taking sides with anyone.
Therefore, to maintain their career, they must remain silent.
But as I know, after the war with Ukraine, some companies allowed them to talk about the political situation.
Also, they may not have enough time for that. But they should talk because they have the biggest voice in controlling people's minds because they are the most watched during this period.

Celebrities are also entitled to express their opinions in all areas as part of society.

I would say that I do agree with Mark Wahlberg when he said that "... A lot of Hollywood is living in a bubble. They’re pretty out of touch with the common person, the everyday guy out there providing for their family.” I say I agree with him because a lot of celebrities face a lot of opposition when they decide to voice their political opinions as they are not just common people, they are influential and very famous people whose lives are very much open to scrutiny by the public so most of them decide that it is best to just stay out of politics.

Where I would say I do not agree with Mark Wahlberg is when he said that "A lot of celebrities did, do and shouldn't [talk politics]..." I am focusing on the part where he said celebrities "shouldn't" participate in politics. I feel like everyone has the right to say their mind. I do not believe that because someone is famous and influential he/she should not be involved in politics. Also, when a celebrity decides to absent himself/herself willingly that person is being apolitical and this is not right as it is the duty of every good citizen to participate in democratic and political affairs. Everyone has the right to have his/her opinions and to make them known and this right should not be limited to whether someone is famous or not. I do not feel like people should be stereotyped or discriminated against based on their careers. Just because someone is an actor or a singer or even a chef doesn't mean the person can't involve themselves in politics.
Also, when Mark Wahlberg said that celebrities should not talk about who citizens should vote for because they do not know what the lives of common people are like. I say that I do not agree and I do at the same time because they are celebrities that are very down to earth and so they know what the lives of common people are like. They communicate with common people and live common lives. Examples are people like Jennifer Lawrence, Kristen Bell, Jay Leno and even Zooey Deschanel. But where I will agree with him is when he said that they should not talk about who people should and shouldn't vote for. They should instead advise people to make their own informed decisions and choices best suited to them. Although, it so happens that whether a celebrity involves himself/herself in politics or not, they are still condemned. If they voice out their opinions, there will be opposition and if they don't there will still be opposition. In my opinion, celebrities should still voice their opinion freely despite opposition as they have their rights but they should do so very responsibly. In the sense that they should not try to impose their political decision or persuade their fans to have the same political beliefs as them. Instead, they should advise their fans about making informed choices and about having political beliefs based on what is right for them and not what is right for others.

Celebrities are highly influential and for someone to be a politician, it should mean they posses enough power to influence people. I strongly think celebrities influence 65% percent of the world ranging from their countries to everywhere in the world. Celebrities influence the ideas or feelings people have towards a particular thing, this could be what they think about a certain law passed by the government or their perspective about a particular system, celebrities influence how people think because of the attention they carry. Although politicians could be in charge of legislating laws to the whole country because of how much power bestowed on them by the constitution, they can only make the laws but when it comes to influence, celebrities do most of the job. Another thing that differentiates celebrities from politicians is the fact that they have fans both nationally and internationally which brings them close to the society making them to fully understand the people while politicians have the people they have around them because by law, they cannot work without them and they are also restricted to people within their nationality, they cannot pass laws to another country while a celebrity can say this is so and fans world wide would agree. So my answer is yes. Celebrities should have a say in politics because of how influential they are.

I have said this because some of these celebrities presenting some candidates for a particular political post could have selfish reasons that are not for the good of the people and might not be the right persons for that office, so having the people vote for such would be like selling the people’s rights. On the other hand, some celebrities are better exposed and more politically inclined, so they can actually guide the people on the right candidate for any political position.

Despite my love for his acting, I disagree with actor Mark Wahlberg .
A large percentage of celebrities were already living in very difficult circumstances, so they know exactly how ordinary people's lives are.
In addition, many famous people are highly human, culture and intelligent, so they can express their opinions.
Simply, while we find politicians hiding behind the curtain of diplomacy, where they are often unclear and blunt when expressing their opinions on a topic.. you find celebrities say what politicians don't say, and what people want to say, In fact  they are a tool of expression.
The star Mohammed Abu Trika for example, the Egyptian player, expressed his sympathy with the people of Gaza during the 2008 war and raised his shirt, "Sympathize with Gaza."
Gaza at the time was subjected to violent bombardment, leaving hundreds dead and
wounded .Top scorer Abu Trika did not care about the warning sent to him by the Confederation of African Football under the pretext of displaying "political slogans"., the player confirmed that any penalties do not matter to him as long as he did what his conscience dictated to him by drawing the world's attention to the suffering of the Gaza Strip under the suffocating siege imposed on him.
Bella Hadid, the famous Palestinian model  has participated in a demonstration in New York against the attack on Gaza last summer... Meanwhile, Bella didn't care about fashion as much as she cared about the people in Gaza who were terrorizing and killing. So in difficult and critical moments, celebrities are a difficult number and a force to be reckoned with in expressing people's circumstances.
Finally I think Celebrities shouldn't stay out of politics.

As a citizen, he has the right to express his political opinion, knowing that he is not obligated to show it or hide it, and if he wants to show it, he must take into account some things:
    * Do not infringe on the opinions of others.
    * Does not enter politics if the target group of his videos is children.
    * Do not force others.
    * To make sure of his side and study, so that he is aware of what he is saying, his beloved may adopt his blind opinion.

do not agree with him because it is possible for some celebrities to fight this battle and succeed because they are qualified and those who are not qualified do not succeed For example: the American Ronald Reagan is the first movie star to take on this adventure successfully. He initially worked as a sports commentator on the radio before becoming an actor in secondary films for more than 20 years when he was elected governor of California in 1966 before taking in 1981 the most important role in his life when he became president of the United States. He was re-elected in 1984 for a second term. And also 1.Selena Gomez The singer was criticized in 2014 after she posted a picture on her Instagram account asking people to reach for Gaza, and wrote: "This is for humanity." Politics refuses but to find its way in one way or another into the artist's work or the way in which these works are read, whether by the public or by the authority. Rather, the artist himself, as human beings, cannot remain isolated from his political reality. The artist should not be separated from the reality of his society or away from the concerns and problems facing his country, not only because he is a citizen, but because he is considered the conscience of the nation and a role model for a large group of society, and therefore expressing his views in every event that occurs in the political arena is a professional and national duty.

By this, I mean that they both have a message and artistic or ideological stances. It is not impossible to find people who master both feilds. This can happen alot in our world as we have many successful models. Psychologically, it is very complicated and hard to accuse someone of failure or judge him or her simply for being interested in two different careers. It is unfair to look at celebrites thia way. It is possible for the celebrity to talk about the policy of a country in which there is a problem or injustice, but the public does not know about that country, and when the public knows about that policy, it will sympathize with the state. Or it could be a big problem in the area where the famous person lives, but the country itself is not aware of that problem. And also the celebrity has a lot of audience who loves him and it is possible to talk about the policy of a country in which people are unfair or wrong, so people will sympathize with the famous against that state and perhaps that state's policy is correct.

  • British Council.jpg stellar_pear | Ramallah Basic Girl School | Occupied Palestinian Territory

In fact, I am not sure, because in the beginning every person has the right to express his opinion, no matter what, and these celebrities also have the right to express their opinion on politics because they are part of the people.
Second: These celebrities may not talk about politics, but the major attack that may be made against them because they did not talk about this issue, for example, the actor or celebrity is forced to talk about this political issue to silence people and so as not to lose his popularity, although he does not want to interfere with that because he wants to focus on the field His work and not political and social issues.

Third: Celebrities are part of society, their public life is different from their private life, so most of them live and feel what people are going through because they are part of it. We cannot believe that this person is happy in his life because of social media. On the contrary, it is possible that a person has his own problems, but not It must appear on the screen

Yes.... Celebrities should remain in politics. Article 1 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights states that “everyone has the right to enjoy all the rights and freedoms mentioned in this declaration, without discrimination of any kind, especially political and non-political opinion, In addition, no distinction shall be made on the basis of the political, legal or international status of the country or territory to which a person belongs, whether it is independent, trust, non-self-governing or subject to any Another limitation on his sovereignty.” .
Celebrities are members of society also who have the right to express their opinion and to interfere in politics, and because celebrities have a strong influence on their audience and they can change people’s thinking and thus benefit the state. The situation is back and I say to every soul what you did a hostage. You, as a famous person, are not obliged to fight with the tongues of the people. If you fear them, stay away from this path.

I often watched celebrities on television, and the press attacked them with political questions that are specific to celebrities, so a problem occurred because the celebrities did not talk about what was asked of questions by the press; And because they tried to get them out of their house and they didn't accept to go out, and the celebrities beat them up, a problem arose.
