Does every job have the potential to be green?

Thinking-Question.jpg

"Every job has the potential to be green."

Do you agree?

"Green" means environmentally friendly.

"Potential" means being able to develop into something in the future.

There are certainly jobs out there today that are not environmentally friendly at the moment but do they have the potential to be? The UK government thinks so - as this report shows.

Now, add your reasons in the comments below.

For example:

My answer for this question is yes. Because we are who controls the jobs and how it should be .it's all in our hands. I know it would be a bit difficult. This won’t happen overnight so it’s vital we move from intent to action now and act upon with urgency .Achieving this ambition is ultimately down to the actions that government, industry and the skills sector will take in the coming years.

Yes, of course, every profession, if it uses its work properly, will certainly have a role, even if it is small, in limiting the phenomenon of climate change, and my reasons are:
1 The teacher, for example, the teacher for me is the source of awareness of the issue of the environment, as he is the one who teaches us and alerts us about this issue. He actually has the primary role in this issue because awareness is the basis of everything and if it were not for the awareness that was before, we would not have survived until this time and if it were not for a few Awareness at the present time we were finished with climate change and became supportive of the environment, for example, the lack of awareness in the issue of the environment and climate change is very large, but the strange thing here is that there is a percentage who are already fully aware of this issue, but they do not try to take any actual action, for example, from the height of their ignorance, which is Make the cleaners throw out solid waste Non-biodegradable in the oceans, and that's really a disaster, but they didn't think to basically change the composition of these non-biodegradable solids so that we wouldn't have to throw them in the ocean and we would be able to recycle them.

2 The cleaner: the job of the cleaner is to throw the trash and recycle it to use it again, and this helps a lot in the environmental issue, as it increases the environment beautiful and reduces pollution and also makes us benefit again from this recycled waste
But I want to point out something here is that the cleaners can give a greater effect to their profession in this case, which is if they exploit all the empty areas by planting trees because there are some areas in my country that are empty, so we can use them to plant trees and this will increase the beauty of the environment and also will benefit us in extracting oxygen of trees and also to increase crops

3 Nurses and doctors: Of course they can be green jobs because their main task is to take care of people and treat them from their diseases. There are diseases such as AIDS and malaria that come as a result of the damages of climate change. If doctors treat the injured, this will help reduce this phenomenon

4The role of makers of video games and Japanese anime films and series: This game will be green if it is used in the right way, producing video games that include awareness of the issue of climate change in the style of a video game producer, or producing anime series that talk about an anime’s personal experience in the issue of climate change and its conflicts, innovations and events with it This will inspire the viewer and make him aware, and this method will be more influential on teenagers, increasing the same category of addiction to video games and anime series.

5 The role of English language learners: Learning English is very important, but in my country, the majority do not care about learning English, saying that it does not benefit them in their daily lives, but with that there remains a group that loves and learns the English language, but how can it be green in the issue of climate change ?! It can be green if their countries are poor and unable to address the issue of climate change. This country can use English language learners as a weapon in raising their voice to large foreign countries to provide assistance and assistance to them to reduce climate change
6 The role of institutions: There are many institutions for different purposes at the present time. There are educational, entertainment, religious institutions, institutions that teach English and relief institutions for the needy. We can use these recreational institutions to establish awareness activities about climate change and how to be friendly to the environment, and we can take advantage of relief institutions for the needy To contribute a sum of money to reduce the phenomenon of climate change.

7 The role of engineers: The engineer has a hand in making his job green. When he is engineering the house, he is interested in making the house a protector of the environment. He secures water sources suitable for agricultural uses, determines the locations of drinking water sources, and works with environmental health groups to set environmental requirements.

Of course, there are some jobs that are harmful to the environment, but at the same time they are important for other jobs, and each job is, of course, devoted to a specific specialty regardless of the damage it can cause, for example: 1 Factory smoke: There are several damages resulting from factory damage, for example, such as pollution damage Air and water, the smoke of factories pollutes the air through the emissions of fossil fuels resulting from them, as these emissions contain carbon dioxide and methane, which cause air poisoning. Decreased lung function in humans, and there is an impact on the climate in general through acid rain: Acid rain occurs when factory smoke emissions mix with moisture in the air
Factories emit greenhouse gases, which cause physical damage to plants

2 Entering some professions while we are not sufficiently experienced and ignorant, for example, such as journalism and media: The role of journalists and media professionals is huge and has an audible and encouraging voice in the issue of climate change, but what about if there are some journalists who enter the field of work ignorantly and when they publish news about the environment it is not True and not properly studied How bad this would be, if we educate journalists, I do not mean to educate them in the sense of educating them, the journalists have a great degree of awareness that many people still lack, but I mean by educating them, i.e. by watching them to make a revolution about climate change and it would be a revolution with one hand from different countries to curb climate change

3 Drivers’ job: Drivers, in my opinion, are most ignorant of the issue of climate change, because cars are very harmful, and the number of cars and tankers has increased dramatically in cities, which led to road congestion and congestion, which resulted in the emergence of a number of road problems in addition to serious health problems that afflict humans. Where nitrogen oxides and medocarbons interact with sunlight, causing damage to the ozone layer, the effect of nitrogen oxide and carbon dioxide on global warming and water shortage has been proven.

4Garment makers: There is no doubt that most consumer goods negatively affect the environment, but the fashion industry causes many environmental damages due to the rapid pace at which fashion changes from season to season, which tempts the consumer to buy to keep pace with it, and United Nations statistics indicate that one pair of jeans requires A kilogram of cotton It takes between 7,500 and 10,000 liters of water to grow a kilogram of cotton.
The fashion industry contributes about 10 percent of the world's total greenhouse gas emissions, produces about 20 percent of global wastewater and consumes an amount of energy.

5 Food manufacturers and canners: The processes of growing food and packing it in factories, first transporting it in the form of goods, all work through the combustion of fossil fuels, which produces what is known as greenhouse gases that lead to global warming. For example, chocolate produces 59 grams of carbon dioxide every 100 calories we eat from it.

    Yes I agree .
    my reasons.

I want to become an inventor in the future because inventor has a big role in society and my teacher advised me to learn some skills to become an inventor.
That's why I want to tell you that you can benefit as much as I do if you want to become an inventor one day.
The most important skills necessary and necessary to qualify for the position of inventor:
First, I believe that the most skill an inventor should have is analytical and critical thinking because an inventor can come up with innovative solutions and ideas and solve complex problems using logic and evaluating arguments. Inventors with strong analytical thinking will be in great demand to deal with both machine and human in the environment.

Second, active learning and a growth mindset. How do ??
    * Those with a growth mindset, inventors, realize that their abilities and their intelligence are always subject to development and improvement. They are fully aware that their efforts in acquiring new skills will bring them greater and greater achievements. So you will find them willing to take on challenges, learn from their mistakes, and constantly seek new knowledge.
    Third, make decisions.
In the world of the inventor's work, human decision-making will become more complex. At a time when robotics and big data science can process a huge amount of information and provide results and statistics that are inaccessible to humans, it remains for the inventor to make the decision, considering the consequences and impacts that may affect others. In the end, technology will take over a large part of the business, leaving the inventor with the advantage to make the biggest decisions.
There are also skills that an inventor must possess, such as communicating with others and the skill of leading a team properly. He was inspiring others, helping them to do their best, accepting change, having technology skills to be able to invent machines and much more.

Yes I do agree. One might say Solid Rocket Boosters consume 11,000 pounds of fuel per second, astronauts can never go green and rockets must use nonrenewable fuel. But this type of thought is completely wrong since Prof. Lipiński describes carbon neutral fuel as synthetic fuels produced from solar energy, water and renewable carbon sources for space shuttles. If astronauts and aeronautical engineers are able to go green why not others?

I think green skills are needed for all jobs because they are like soft skills. For example, teachers, engineers, artists, businessmen, doctors and others need to be leaders in their places, need to know how to communicate with people around them, how to manage time and money. I think green skills are essential in the 21th century because they are friendly to the environment and this what we want to be happy.

I think being green is important for all jobs because I believe that green jobs are alternatives to low-paying life, rather than stable jobs that can provide a family.
I think keeping the environment safe and clean has become a growing concern lately. In response to this, schools, homes, and businesses have begun implementing green skills as they develop those who practice them with a basic understanding of sustainability practices and environmental problems. Be environmentally friendly and give them attention and repay you.

For example, agriculture, industry, services and management contribute to preserving and enhancing the quality of the environment while maintaining its goals. I chose 3 on the scale of how much I agree with "Every job has the potential to be green."
I chose so because every work can now be done using renewable energy and can minimize the disposal of pollutants into the environment. However, there's still the limitation of low quantity of renewable energy compared to that of the non-renewable energy. Besides, producing renewable energy on a large scale will take time, money and effort; so people will want to stick to the conventional methods rather than taking a step for green development for the sake of the earth.

    I chose to disagree.
My reasons are what the reliable source says like "Nuclear power plants use uranium as fuel. The process of mining uranium releases high amounts of carbon dioxide into the environment. Carbon dioxide is also released into the environment when new nuclear power plants are built. Finally, the transport of radioactive waste also causes carbon dioxide emission" and there are also like usage of leather and waste from it and other stuffs which will no matter how we try, we can't stop these from affecting the green. Well, if we could completely eradicate these workplaces and thus stopped the jobs, the world would have been filled with green jobs. But these jobs have no alternatives because we need a lot of energy for digitalization and development and these are workplaces with a huge place of employment.
Last but not the least, if we want to stop harming the green then we need to find alternatives which can solve these problems.

    I chose to strongly disagree.
Because no matter how hard we try we can't make every job environment friendly. The world we live in requires a lot of energy to work and of which 85% is non-renewable energy. If we see the statistics of carbon emission every day, it is clear that most of the jobs in the world are harmful to environment. In the year 2019 the amount of carbon dioxide emission was 6558 million metric tons. Even if we take counter measures for pollution and other damages from works all over the world, it is not possible to eradicate all threats to environment.
If we talk about nuclear power plants, a lot of issues will catch our eyes which are impossible to stop. The radioactive wastage of these power plants alone is enough to explain that there are some things which can never be green.
Besides when fuels are burned to run various engines, there is no way to stop sulfur dioxide and nitrogen dioxide from releasing into the air. The nuclear weapons that the powerful countries make for their so called "Self Defense" are the enemies of the environment, not friends. Where money hungry investors just make new innovations and industries without paying any heed to the consequences to the environment, hoping to make every job and workplace is nothing but the dream of the foolish.
currently the only thing we can hope for to reduce pollution is to reduce the jobs which are not environment friendly. Like in the year 2020 the covid-19 pandemic closed all workplaces and pollutions dropped to a significant low rate.

I strongly agree because every profession is related to the environment, for example the doctor who works to educate the patient and create a food pyramid for him, which makes the sick doctor reduce the demand for food from restaurants and this reduces the use of cars whose air pollutes the environment, which makes the profession of the doctor environmentally friendly and also there is the engineer For example, the one who works on designing the infrastructure for sewage, and this reduces the human condition of sewage in the sea, and there are also farms who work to plant trees in which vital processes occur, which take carbon dioxide and give us the oxygen we breathe, and also work to soften the environment and also the hygiene factor Which has a major role in maintaining the cleanliness of the environment and works on recycling and cleaning garbage from the streets, and this is what makes the environment clean, so professions are closely related to the environment, and each profession has its own role in preserving the environment

I chose the job (the urban farms), because of the high agricultural production in rural areas, and once the crops grow, they must be transported by land or sea to different parts of the country, which increases its cost significantly with the increase in the cost of both transportation and fuel and also causes more release of pollutants To the environment But instead of spending all that money, urban farmers can now grow entire gardens on the roofs of taller buildings. It helps protect the environment, and the green roofs of buildings can improve the urban environment by managing rainwater, improving air quality and providing places for recreation.

I disagree on the fact that every job has the potential to be green because global warming is being caused mainly because some of these jobs and the people who are in charge of it. Jobs like working in chemical factories or in nuclear power plants where even though things are being taken care of, one mismanagement might just destroy everything for good. Then again, nowadays, the factories produce carbon dioxide at a faster rate than plants produce oxygen. So even though some jobs do have the potential of converting them to eco-friendly jobs, there are still those which are the major causes of todays global warming. So, they lack the mere potential of becoming eco-friendly jobs even if they do have 100% potential in them. If they do want to convert themselves into eco-friendly, they might as well stop producing such green house gases.

    My reasons are-

    1. The examples of green jobs are- energy supply and recycling of waste to agriculture, construction and transportation sectors. If the industries which produce carbon emission are reduced, then the environment can be good.

    2. If there is a rule in office that nobody will use polythene, then the environment would survive from a lot of sufferings and the practice of getting a green skill would also be ensured.

    3. The office, industries can also inspire people not to build unnecessary buildings so that the environment can be recovered.

1 There are jobs that are the main cause of harm to the environment, and they are not ready to change their work system to support the environment

2 There are jobs that benefit from environmental damage, such as developing countries that take a sum of money to bury waste in their territories by industrialized countries.

3 Business owners and owners of large corporations are considered positions in which they hold jobs, but their interest in money and the economy has significant negative effects on the environment. They have no interest in solving the issue of environmental pollution

I think that the most important job for learning green skills is related to environmental sciences and is focused on studying critical environmental problems and finding effective solutions to them.
    1. Pollution and its effects.
    2. Global warming that leads to climate change.
    3. Flood problems.
    4. Lack of non-renewable industrial resources and depletion of natural resources and others.
So, I think that the most suitable job for you to have these green skills is a specialist in health and environmental sciences, which is related to environmental problems.
There are also other jobs as an environmental chemist, which relates to chemicals and the environment and the effect of their interaction together, as well as a climatologist or climate change analyst, which relates to the study of long-term climate changes to develop conclusions about humanity's impact on them.
And there are multiple other jobs, so I think every job has the potential to be so eco-friendly that the outfits are made from sustainable materials and use eco-friendly fabrics. Today's eco-fashion has become a very wide lust. Or design for global brands from eco-friendly sources that don't harm the universe.
I think it's a rare post. I liked very much. I could be in the future too, but my number one goal in life is to become an environmental science major.

Sustainable development and the development of something in the future means that society develops in harmony with nature and that people and companies do not act in a way that destroys the environment and environmental goals of environmental sustainability that everyone must work according to. The environment must be protected, which means that emissions must not harm people and that biodiversity must be preserved. The use of energy and natural resources must be defined and made more efficient in order to reduce the risk of climate change.

I agree that maximum number of jobs in the world has the potential to be green. A example can be the aviation sector. Still now the airplanes run on liquid aviation fuel which are mostly made from fossil fuel sources emitting 2.5% of carbon di oxide. But the people along with aviation engineers are hoping that airplanes will run on electricity produced from renewable sources in the near future, lessening their impact on the climate.

On the other hand, there are a few hundreds of jobs which hardly have some potential or have no potential to be green. A big exemplary can be the coal mining industry. The only job of the coal miners is to produce or mine coals which are used only as fossil fuels and they emit greenhouse gases. Coal mining affects the environment both when mining the when the product is used. so the only way it can be made green is shutting it down.

My reasons are, when having a job you need to know about all the factors of that job. Even if at present many jobs can only damage the environment, the employees of these job are skilled in their work. For example- a person in charge of afforestation knows a lot about trees. Thus, rather than only cutting the trees, he can also manage for more and better trees to be built. Again, scientists and scholars who are working for the use of coal, oil and acids etc materials, they can rather think about how to reduce the harms these things cause.
So, I think that as the employees of harmful jobs are usually adept in their work, they can turn their work to the positive side. That's why I strongly agree with a 5

I chose that not every jobs are Green but many of them has the potentiality to be a green one.

My reasons are that, there are some of the jobs which mainly works against the environment. If we look at the jobs of the brick fields of the various countries, we can observe that, the black fumes of the fields are responsible for the climate disaster. But this can be potentially green if we use the filters which would block the emission of black fumes. And it mainly depends on the perspective of the people who are working in the jobs. In my opinion, yes, economic stability affects to make any profession green or not. Like, if we look at the countries with a huge economical capacity that, they can afford any type of infrastructures they want, they can definitely make most of the professions green. But, if we look at the 3rd world countries with lower economic capacity, it is very difficult for the authority to supply proper equipment to make any occupation green. So, I can say that, in my opinion, yes, the economy of a country makes an effect on making any job green. Thank you.

My reason for choosing this point is that a green job must promote affirmative and innovative change in energy capability, renewable energy, or greenhouse effects.

I chose 3rd point to agree as I believe that it completely depends on our motive how we execute or direct any job, so it is quite feasible to say that every occupation will possess the potentiality to be green and eco-friendly if mankind wishes if not then never will be possible.

I chose 4 because I think that most jobs could be made environmentally friendly, by making small changes to how they do things, for example, a fisher could make sure that they are not using fishing nets that drag along the floor of the ocean, killing coral. Some jobs however may be made obsolete since they have no way of being environmentally friendly, such as people who dig up fossil fuels, they have no way of being environmentally friendly because the very thing they're doing isn't. Smaller jobs like a florist may be easier to make environmentally friendly because they can check that where they get their supply of flowers is sustainably sourced.

I chose 3. My reasons are that we can make many of the jobs green but still there are limitations because in the present world every country focuses on the industrialization and economical progress. And most of the jobs get diverted to energy sector as there persists high energy demand for fulfilling the criterias of developing world. Renewable source produces only 1 percent of the total energy demand of the world so we greatly demand on non -renewable sources as it can be available anytime regardless of day and night and are not subjected to weather conditions making it more reliable. Basically renewable sources are not yet developed in infrastructural to meet the energy demand of the whole world so most of the jobs get redirect to non -renewable plants.

I want to be optimistic, but I really can't agree with that "Every job has the potential to be green." Hence I had to choose "1". I do agree that most of the jobs will be able to turn themselves into green efficient jobs. But it would be rather impossible to turn all of the jobs to turn into green. Electricity generation is one of the majors. I know many people will strongly oppose me, but yes, electricity production is nearly impossible in a fully green way. As civilization develops, the demand for energy also highly increases. Solar energy is the largest source of green energy, but only mere solar panels and windmills won't be able to fulfill the huge demand for electricity in the developed world. It might be possible with technologies like "Dyson Sphere" or "Dyson Swarm". Though these technologies only fit in science fiction!
Hence in my opinion we can't get a full-fledged green world with all green jobs. But I still hope that I am proved wrong somehow by the hard work of the future generation!

Because we can exploit all clean energy such as wind, water and solar energy, and we can also develop tools that use this energy, for example, nanotechnology, through which we can help solar cells developed with nanotechnology to increase the efficiency of light conversion using quantum spots or graphene, and also contribute to further reducing pollutants emitted from the combustion engine from Through the use of nanofilters that can purify and clean the exhaust mechanically through catalytic converters based on nanoparticles of noble metals or through catalytic envelopes on the cylinder walls and catalytic nanoparticles. There are jobs that are originally environmentally friendly and possess environmentally friendly qualities, so they do not need those skills, and there are some jobs that require these skills and developments to become environmentally friendly because they pose a great harm to the environment

I chose to talk about several professions that I believe it will make a difference by their development :

First: famous Korean art, I see that their role in raising awareness is very big, as they are a global sensation that shook the world with the beauty of their songs and their meanings, but they can also shake the world from environmental pollution by educating their audience in various ways, which are represented in: Issuing songs that show what has been spoiled in the environment and how it affected him as a teenager, as a young person or as an old man, or cooperating with global climate organizations, or making awareness meetings, and that will be done through signing ceremonies , they can also help support their country's economy, and thus the inventor companies will be supported, as we know South Korea is the world's technological boom, so we have to take advantage of the wonderful ability of its companies and citizens to invent and discover, and also supporting K-pop teams for international conferences, materially or morally,to increase the public's interest in the decisions and actions that happen

Second: the farmer's profession. Indeed, the farmer's work is a large part of purifying the air in the environment, but there are also points I would like to point out, which are the lack of experience of the farmer, who uses soil pollutants, thinking it would be useful, an example of this is the use of animal manure as a natural fertilizer despite the presence of pollutants in it that affect plant production, so I would like to advise farmers to follow modern methods of farming, and of course we hope in the coming days that you will dispense with chemicals in production

Third: The profession of a business manager, he can greatly help in raising the awareness of employees in his company, through: awareness campaigns conducted by a dedicated team in the company, and also planting trees in his company’s garden, and donating sums of money to environmental organizations in the country, to solve environmental problems that the country suffers from

Fourth: Market owners, they can educate people and guide them about what they should do with paper, plastic or petrochemical waste, and this is how we will make a difference in the rate of material decomposition, and also selling magazines and books about environmental issues and the environment in general and talking about them to citizens through advertisements

Fifthly: Politicians are indeed the influence on the people and the public, so they can convert their decisions that bear negative effects on the environment into positive decisions that change the mentality of the people, which is represented in the obliteration of the environment through their bad deeds and recklessness , also thinking of a logical plan for building greener that takes into account all aspects, whether: economic, political, societal, age, also, do not forget their support for citizens for invention and innovation, sharing their theories with environmental organizations, and supporting them financially and morally.

I chose 3. I chose this because not every job has the potential to be green, but many jobs do. However, although some jobs do, they do not enforce these green rules.

    1) If you were a miner, who worked underground, this job is a green job. However, when you move the coal from different places, you are causing pollution. There is no real way to solve this, so a miner's job is on one hand green. but also very harmful to the environment.

    2) If you were a popular influencer, your job would not be green. You would have to go on tour, and you would use a lot of fuel on them. However, some influencers are online, which is also green, but can also be harmful because of the electricity used to charge your device. However, you could change to being a drawing influencer. That way, you would use less electricity and fuel.

My reasons for that choosing I am going to give answers by some points
firstly coming to the most influential job in a society is a teacher . yes the job is a teacher is potential to be green. the mental growing stage when a child starts to learn teacher is the person who influences him most . and a teacher can create awareness and motivate childrens in this climate issue. A teacher can make habit of planting trees or green skills inside him/her student

in case of the jobs that are the lest influential in a society are the waiter, bartender, taxi driver. Yes they can also make their job a green one .A waiter can amaze people by his environ friendly nature and waste management ideas .in case of taxi drivers they can told their customers not to throw away things outside. the painter, writer ,film maker can be a green job they can motivate or change the ideology of people by their paintings writings .

in case of industrialists or firm managers they can make a option of recycling or re using techniques

In my view, Every job has the 'potential' to be green but not all jobs have the right 'environment' to be green.
we know potential is the inner skill or power of something which is yet to bloom but will in the future. so then the question comes, how all professions are green? how can the work of a factory worker have the potential to be green? Most of the time we make a mistake in recognizing their potential. its just that, the factory worker doesn't have the 'right environment' to be green. Even is he has the potential to do something eco friendly overcoming the barriers of pollution, he can't since he is bound to work in an factory and fight against the power of 'being green'.
Not only factory workers, its the same in the case of a brick mill worker, a garments worker, a sweeper, a teacher, an environmental scientist and many more. according to a research, from 2008 to 2017, pollution emission decreased by 30%- this certainly proves that the potential to be green of all kinds of jobs are blooming, though gradually but we hope to see it shine in the future for the sake of our dear environment.
In order for this hope to be a reality its our duty to try to bring out the potential jobs in the limelight. We should start step by step: by reducing the burning of fossil fuels and starting the usage of renewable energy sources. Then we should slowly stop wasting materials and practice recycling, start planting more trees, stop using smoke emitting vehicles and start using eco friendly transportation like cycling.
There is a saying that a small act can bring a big change to the environment without realizing. its the same in this case. Never undermine any profession thinking that it doesn't have the potential to be green. Every job can be made green but 'we' have to create the right environment for it and step up in our own game of being green.

Every job is important for all of us. For example, doctor, police, lawyer, engineer etc. Generally speaking, they seem to be far away from nature and environment. But I personally think all jobs are closely related to nature.

    1) DOCTOR - They are basically serving patients. But imagine a patient with tuberculosis causing air pollution, soil pollution indirectly. But doctors are treating them.

    2) ENGINEER- An architect can make it possible to make a proper infrastructure management and planning and avoid risks of cutting trees, forest, filling of rivers.

    3) POLICE - He can punish those who are violating laws like CUTTING DOWN TREES and protect our environment and its resources.

    4) LAWYER- He can easily contribute in enacting environment related laws.

    5) SCIENTIST- They are already making eco friendly discoveries and inventions.

6)FARMER - They are directly related to nature and they nurture plants.

But then, it depends on you how responsible you are! If you dont do your job properly, it wont be GREEN.

That's a very nice order of professions which you have tried to relate with their job's ability of turning into green..But I presume, it would be kind of better if you could suggest or give any example of who or which profession should be the absolute authority to overlook or monitor the ability and the try of respective professions' professionals in terms of trying to convert their professions into green. Because, we can see the green potential of various industries or professions only through independent organizations or environment conscious start ups. For example: FaceDrive(a food delivery service in Canada with the objectiv of Planet first, which is why they deliver through mechanical vehicles, not the electrical ones).

Rest assured, yours was a very fruitful comment

    I choose 3

I concur that most extreme number of occupations within the world has the potential to be green. A illustration can be the flying segment. Still presently the airplanes run on fluid flying fuel which are for the most part made from fossil fuel sources radiating 2.5% of carbon di oxide. But the individuals at the side aviation engineers are trusting that airplanes will run on power created from renewable sources within the close future, reducing their affect on the climate. On the other hand, there are a number of hundreds of occupations which barely have a few potential or have no potential to be green. A enormous excellent can be the coal mining industry. The as it were work of the coal mineworkers is to create or mine coals which are utilized as it were as fossil powers and they radiate nursery gasses. Coal mining influences the environment both when mining the when the item is utilized. so the as it were way it can be made green is closing it down.

I chose the rating number 3 because I believe that, every single profession around the world, from environment friendly jute bag industry to climate-harming car industry, they do have the potential to be green, thus reducing their negative effects on the environment. But potential is not an abstract term, it is quantitative. For example: No matter how we try to convert a battery industry into green, they WILL always leave, at least a minimal impact on the environment. But whereas today's most of the electrical instruments contain Lithyum ion battery which has a very low recyclable capability, and expires very quickly, if we use lead acid battery instead of them, they impact can be highly minimized, that too without compelling us to return to the pre-electronic age. Because, as per WHO,85% of the world’s lead consumption is for the production of lead-acid batteries, and the good news is, it has a very high longitivity and lead acid batteries are 99% recyclable.

Hence, my reason to choose number 3 rating was due to the fact that, all professions and industries have the potential to be green, but it's quantitative ability varies.
There are lot's of start up and organizations like HydroQuo+(Bangladesh), Fuergy(Slovakia), who are trying to utilize those resources which we use in our daily life by converting them into green mediums or by reducing their adverse effects on climate . If Govt inititiives and self awareness of respective countries' citizens increase, then by default we will see that the potentials of every industry materialistically, not only through independent environment conscious start ups.

That's a very good point you made there but with due respect ma'am, I humbly disagree. Yes, I agree with the part that there are some certain professions which contribute to the adverse climate change way more than expected, but the fact that they cannot be turned comparatively greener, isn't soemthing that I would like to support. The reason being the fact that,, every profession or sector somehow contributes to degenerating the environment,. But, to which level and how much, that varies. For example: we consider solar energy sector as a green industry. But, the amount of lead, that is coming out of solar panels due to the lack of recycling, does create a hazard on the environment. As per The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) in 2016 estimated there was about 250,000 metric tonnes of solar panel waste in the world at the end of that year. IRENA projected that this amount could reach 78 million metric tonnes by 2050. But if we start to recycle the lead, as per the suggested level by the experts, the hazards froma Green industry like solar energy sector can be made more greener. Same goes for other way more harmful professions that you're talking about.

Not every job or company that calls itself green, actually is genuinely green or sustainable. That is why I strongly disagree with the statement.

Here are few works that I think are bad or against green:

    1. Marketing and R&D for compulsive behaviours such as smoking, alcoholism, gambling, and payday loans (and maybe computer games)
Drinking or gambling in moderation are fine. And sometimes you really do need a loan for 24 hours to deal with a cash-flow problem. Unfortunately, people have cognitive biases, and a high level of impatience, that can make it easy to convince them to use certain products to excess. People will already use these ‘temptation’ products plenty without anyone designing clever ways to hook them into using more.

    2. Factory farming
Animal agriculture, especially management or innovation in factory farming or slaughterhouse work, can be objected to on a number of grounds. Animals on farms suffer while being raised; in many cases their lives are probably worse than not existing at all. It involves killing, which is both painful and perhaps immoral in itself. It is a major contributor to climate change and other environmental problems.

    3. Homeopathy and other fraudulent medical technologies
There are a lot of useless products that don’t work. Sometimes the people selling them know they are useless. Mostly they just end up wasting people’s time and money. The same would apply to anti-vaccination activists, though that’s not really a career path per se.

    4. Patent trolls
Patent trolls exploit the poor design of patent law to hold up useful innovations that we could all benefit from, in order to get a small gain for themselves. The patent lawyers who work in patent trolling organizations, and the people who came up with this socially destructive business model are the key players here. The number of people involved is tiny, but the disruption they create for the legal system and actually useful businesses is huge.

    5. Weapons research
Weapons researchers develop new ways of waging war. While in some cases new weapons will be more targeted and less harmful than the old ones, in general we expect this work to be very bad for the world. Over the medium term new weapons technologies becomes widely disseminated and so both sides end up being able to use them. Usually this makes any remaining wars more destructive.

    6. Tax minimization for the super rich
Tax minimization uses up some of the world’s smartest lawyers in order to avoid money being transferred from tax-payers to the government to spend. Assuming you’re working in a country with a well-run representative government, that’s unproductive, and makes it harder for the government to operate a simple and cheap tax system.

Yes, there are surely some jobs that depends on the person and can be turned into green if they want to. But I don't think that all jobs are green or can be turned into green. Because no matter how good your mentality or moral is, a bad job is still a bad job.

    I chose 4.

Because I think that every job has the potential to be green in some ways. But there are places where it won't be up to the mark to make it completely environment friendly.

For example, the manufacturing factories will be able to turn green to some extent, but there will remain some problems that can not be solved. Polythene bags will always be harmful for the environment. Air conditioners will always emit carbon monoxide. Fire will always create carbon dioxide.

Despite all these, there is potential for most of the job sectors to turn green to a certain limit. Like, factories can adapt to technologies that bury emitted carbon down in the earth to produce oil. And recycling waste materials, etc

    I chose 4, and I think that every job has the potential to be green. There are lots of jobs which are already environment friendly. Some jobs are polluting the environment. But there are some jobs that are neither good nor bad for the environment. But these jobs can be transformed into green jobs. Such as;
Think of a 'Digital artist'. He has nothing to do with the environment. But, if a digital artist makes art that will show the condition of the world or he can also hide new innovative ideas in his art. People around the world will not only purchase his works to decorate their rooms, but they will also be concerned about the environment.
A 'Game developer'. He can make such games where the played role has to clean the places around him or experiment with futuristic ideas to protect the environment. This can have an impact on the brain of the players and make them clean their own places. Though being influenced by a game isn't good, but it will help the world to be better.
An 'Animator'. He usually makes animations and cartoons to entertain people. But he can also make cartoons that will be funny and educative for the children as well. He can influence the children to save the earth with his own skill.

Now, there are also many jobs that pollute the environment in the worst possible way. For example; mining and smelting, foundry, construction works, chemical industry jobs et cetera.
Mining has polluted the headwaters of more than 40 percent of Western watersheds, according to the EPA. But, I'm very much hoping that we can depend on science and technologies of the future will be able to reduce the rate. The nanotechnologies of the future generation will be more than capable of transforming these industries into environment-friendly green jobs.

Could you explain how the jobs that are worse for the environment could be transformed into green jobs too?

No, I believe not all jobs can be green.
I think not all jobs can be green because:
Jobs related to mining fossil fuel, Transport, battery production etc. will always keep affecting the environment cause these jobs produce CO2 and other greenhouse gases directly or indirectly . So They can not be green

No, my logic doesn’t support me saying that every job has the potential to be green and thereby I chose “1” .
”2019 was the second warmest year on record and the end of the warmest decade (2010- 2019) ever recorded. Carbon dioxide (CO2) levels and other greenhouse gases in the atmosphere rose to new records in 2019. “ – says UN.
The world population is ever increasing and so is the demand for energy as well as all other staffs leading to much more competitiveness among the nations. This automatically drives the nations much more production oriented and leaving them careless about environment. Due to this, the job sectors inside that nation focus on increasing their production. According to United Nations estimation , by 2050, it is likely to be 9.7 billion people on earth As the world population is going up, so as the demand for energy and livelihood, the production oriented competition among nations , without any doubt, will rise and much more than before - this is not a mere assumption , as we see –“Three large oil exporting nations are among five countries that have not yet ratified the 2015 Paris climate agreement.”

So , it is very much likely that , countries for their survival will remain competitive and ultimately leading to impossibility for every job to be potentially green. However , through use of alternative green energy and information technology environment can be protected . when it comes to the question of our existence depending on environment protection, our integrated effort as world citizen and not divided as nations shall be the pathway to green resilience.

I think that MOST jobs have the potential to be greener. I think this because for example people who sell petrol cars can just change and start selling electric cars. I also think that factories could be greener by finding different ways of burning fuel to create energy. Finally, I think farmers can be greener by not using so many chemicals on their crops.

I think that most job have the potential to be greener.I know this because for example people who send petrol cars can change and sell electronic cars. Also factories cold be greener by not burning the coal just to make electricity. So come on guys lets fix these lets be more eco friendly so we need to react to this situation urgently!

My answer was a 3 because people who work in factories might not be able to change to being green. They probably wouldn't want to give up their jobs. On the other hand, people who sell cars with fuel in them could just start selling electric cars.

I feel like MOST jobs can become green but there are some exceptions. For examples that can become green, on the top of the list is F1 racing. Next is people that sell petrol cars. The thing these have in common is that they are cars with petrol. But factories can't change. They are using coal to make electricity and electricity can't make electricity so, they can't change and there is nothing about quitting jobs, because that's the only way. Oh yeah, that would mean no electricity. Lets not do that then.

I chose the number 3, as I think only some jobs will have the potential to become more green. A job such as a car dealer can change the type of cars they sell to only eletric cars. However, factories may struggle more with becoming green, as they have to find a new way to produce their required product to prevent creating harmful gases . Farmers can become more eco-friendly by stopping the usage of harmful chemicals and searching for other items to help their crops grow. I think there might be other jobs that cannot be solved easily, but I can't think of any of them.

I think that most jobs can have the potential to make themselves greener. I think this because farmers can stop using bad chemicals for their plants. On the other hand, factories can't have the potential to be greener because if factories lock down we can't plug our charger into the plug. Also, a car seller could sell electric cars instead.

I chose to be a journalist.
My reasons are that by being a journalist i can enlighten people about all the small details of recent climate change. This is green because although it'll not directly affect the overall climate situation it's gonna aware people about the danger we're in. Hopefully everyone will take a step forward knowing what we're up against.

I think that almost all jobs can be greener. For that greener techniques and technologies should be used in all sectors and the issue of the environment must be kept in consideration always. There may be some exceptions where there is no scope for that. But we must be 'green' as much as possible.

    I chose 4 which means I agree 50-50
my reasons are, at the very onset I would say the earth needs more green jobs. But there are very less skillful personnel for this sector. Thus, the world needs a proper introduction to this very crucial sector.
Mother Earth is suffering from global warming for our(humans) nature catastrophic actions. The only solution is to make a drastic change in our lives.
On the other hand, less greener jobs are as well needed for creating a perfect balance in the environment we reside in. An industrialist who needs to run his factory for creating our day to day, head to toe products. THAT IS REALLY IMPORTANT but some sacrifices are worth it, isn't it? His Job can be green but our essentials won't be like we expected.
That's the very reason I agree 50-50 on the statement "Every job has the Potential to be green"

I completely agree that every job has the potential to be green. Because human beings are adaptable to changes, and so we obviously can find different bright ideas to make our job sectors green. Moreover, this change will be inevitable in the upcoming days, because we need to mitigate the problems caused by climate change.

I have given "4" with the statement because I do believe that all the jobs have the potential to be green. But even though they have the potential, it's not easy for all jobs to be green. With optimistic thoughts, it seems that all jobs could be made green. But the reality is, even though there is the potentiality for the jobs to be green, the road to turn that potential into reality is not a smooth task.
Most of the countries don't possess enough strong economic and technical structure to provide the facilities to make all jobs green. Especially, third-world countries like mine are struggling economically and let alone have funds for making all job greens.
That's why even though there is potential in every job to be green, it's going to be challenging for all jobs to be green practically. But if someday. in near future, the situation allows, it is obvious that every job has the potential to be green. Thank You.

    I chose 3.

    My reasons are,
    1. Not all jobs can be green. Now if we try to make the work of a thermal power plant worker green, our efforts will have no meaning because it can never be green.

    2. Again, there are many jobs which can be made green. For example, the job of a driver can be made green by fining alternative fuel which emits less carbon.

Again, due to the continuous development of the various departments of the job sector and new technology, there is a high possibility that maximum of the jobs that are seen nowadays will be vanished. We have to start developing new jobs which have the potential to be green right now to encounter the adverse effects of climate change.

I do agree that most of the job, de facto, has the potential to be green. Starting from the production of food to the production of electricity has the potential to turn green.

But the question arises will it be sustainable? That is the question we have to think about. Because producing electricity can be turned green using wind energy, hydroelectricity and solar energy. Even so, there will be some effects on the environment. Moreover, the demand can never be met only by using green energy, the collaboration of grey energy is a must if we want to satisfy the demand for electricity of the increased population. And grey energy is "famous" for its high rate of carbon emission. Even after purifying the wastes, they cannot completely be harmless.

The bi-products of the industries are also harmful to the environment to a great extent. The severeness can be reduced by purification, yet the harm it'll cause is irreversible.

We can find many more examples like these where there is partial potential to be green but it will not be sustainable.

Every job have the potential to be green. I agree with the statement, but there are some sectors which don't have the way to be green. The normal jobs or startups which are working for environment, they are totally green. Again some of the startups are there which are using environment friendly products & taking measure to make the startup green. But there are few sectors or jobs like Weapons research, Mining and smelting jobs
Foundry workers, Construction workers, Chemical industry jobs (including chemical manufacture, as well as chemical re-package and storage), Manufacturing jobs (including auto manufacturing), Aerospace jobs, Dry cleaning jobs, Auto repair shops, Gas station jobs don't have the full potential to be green.

I strongly agree with the topic. Every job can be made green. If all jobs or works are done right and even more improved, then all jobs have the potential to go green. Even the jobs that seem impossible to greenify like industries and workshops have the potential to not be a cause of pollution
If we think a bit critically we will see that the jobs that are causing pollution right now, they are doing so because there is a flaw somewhere in the production system or chain of work. If we are able to figure out the flaws and find ways to solve them, then those jobs would be able to go green. that is why I strongly believe that every job has the potential to go green.

I do not think that all professions and jobs are environmentally friendly, but they can become environmentally friendly
The first example:We have discussed before is carbon to the environment because of the damage it causes to the environment and the appropriate solution is the work of carbon capture plants so that it becomes an environmentally friendly profession
The second example cars Those who maunfacture cars are well aware of the damage caused by car smoke to the environmental protection. I think that the appropriate solution is to manufacture cars that run on electricity, such as a mobile phone. I believe that in the future the world will turn into ahot mass of environmentally friendly development.

The current jobs are now not environmentally friendly, but rather an enemy of the environment, but with the development of mental thought and modern technology, we can make jobs that are not environmentally friendly to be environmentally friendly, just as there are some jobs that cannot be environmentally friendly.
1 Dr: There are some doctors who offer everything they want to treat patients, and we specialize in medical specialties related to psychological and social diseases, and these specialties have become prevalent in our society and are environmentally friendly and community good
2 The teacher: He is the most important person in the country and one of the most golden minds that helps develop students’ minds, increase their knowledge, and increase their jurisprudence and thinking.
3 The engineer: It is in the hands of every engineer, whether he specializes in “nutritional engineering / architecture and the like.” He can make everything around him environmentally friendly, as he secures the water that is suitable for uses, so it is friendly in the development of crops and the cultivation of trees.
4 Owners of institutions: There are institutions that develop the latent ideas of children and adults that have disappeared with academic failure. There is a recreational, scientific and strengthening institution. All of these things are environmentally friendly.
But there are some jobs that are not suitable to be environmentally friendly, such as smoke from factories that specialize in cars and motorcycles.

Yes, of course, any job can be green as long as the specialist seeks to reduce or compensate for the impact of humans on the environment. And also the type of work he does if he focuses on reducing pollution, preserving natural resources and helping to generate the environment. Moreover, every person Ensures that the environment is not negatively affected during its activities' and any job or any economic sector can be green as long as these jobs have the main objective of preserving natural resources and reducing the environmental impact on the part of humans

There is no single educational path to green careers. Students and professionals can access any environmental job in different ways, either through a college degree, on-the-job training, vocational or technical training, or even through programs sponsored by community-based nonprofit organizations. You can choose your method of obtaining an education in one of the green disciplines, according to your preferences and capabilities.

These advanced devices and precision agriculture and robotic systems will allow farms to be more profitable, efficient, safe, and environmentally friendly.By this way we can be economically strong and help to make our environment much better and finish malnutrition from our community .

Yes, off course but i think that Geoscientist has to be potential green in job. Geoscientists help protect the planet by studying it, learning from it, and predicting what the future will bring. They perform environmental assessments and study global environmental systems. They locate energy resources. They predict geological disasters. They work both in indoors, outdoors,in their offices and laboratories to observing, sampling and testing the materials, rocks and liquids. They work with sesimometer to examine the ratio of earthquakes so, geoscientists are good environmental friendly.

    I chose to give 3.
I believe that every job has the potential to be green but some of them have reached the point of no return. Take the Armed Forces for example because atomic warfare can completely disfunction the places of its impact. Even though the making of atom bombs have lessened the frequency and intensity of wars as there lies great risk of its usage, still if its used it causes a catastrophe that greatly impacts that place for years to come.
Like this, some others are also there. But technically all jobs have the potential to be green as even the Armed Forces could be green without nuclear powers.

To generalize is a good idea, but the best is to identify the positive points for each profession and support it and find solutions to the negative points and replace them with solutions that are environmentally friendly.
All professions and crafts, with their positives that serve the environment, contain negatives, even in a small part, that may be harmful to the environment.
For example, but not limited to, if we want to choose the profession of the farmer, and there is no doubt that it is an environment-friendly profession, but the excessive use of fertilizers and chemicals is a negative behavior that is harmful to the environment.
It should be replaced as much as possible with natural ingredients that are environmentally friendly
By analogy, this can be applied to all crafts in order to be environmentally friendly.
