Learn about life for Afghan children in the UK

Skill Solid Listening thumbnail

As you might know, many Afghans fled the country when they heard the Taliban were returning to power. Refugees have left Afghanistan for several countries, including the United Kingdom (UK).

"Around 2.2 million left for neighbouring countries while 3.5 million people were forced to flee their homes within Afghanistan's borders.

The UK government agreed to allow up to 20,000 Afghan people to travel and start new lives in the UK over the next few years, with 5,000 Afghans able to travel this year."

There are also many British Afghans, many of whom have spent most of their lives in the UK but have relatives still in Afghanistan.

After reading this news article and watching the videos, one of the important things I learned is that parents should educate their children about war and not lie to them about such an important matter by saying it's OK on the one hand. I agree that they lie to them so that they don't fear the children. On the other hand, it was agreed that they should not lie to them by making them aware of the war and its damages, and not to be afraid because it is an ongoing war, but its end will be joy and happiness. Where the family lives, of course. However, they can reassure them by saying that here in our country there is safety, as parents should not show any feelings of fear or anxiety about bad events that might happen in their country. Because it may happen to us what happened in the other country.” The end of the discussion with the children should be positive and happy

It's important for both children and parents to be able to express their feelings and emotions about war. In your opinion, how do you think parents could educate their children on war?

After reading this news article and watching the videos, one of the important things I learned is that we have to keep our children informed of the situation our countries are going through in terms of decline or development, It is important to know this so that we can increase belonging to the homeland despite the alienation, that is, for example, we must also tell them about the beauty of Afghan nature and not plant in their minds only the apparent aspect, which is war,In order not to make our children take the idea of visiting it out of their heads, we have to make them aware of the positive aspects in our countries, And also we have to introduce them to their relatives and their conditions there so as to increase intimacy and interdependence among the people, and this will increase the unity of the state and will support it to face external or internal dangers

The person or group of people who I think need to know about this is the embassies in other countries, where they can educate the natives about this,Especially the fathers and mothers, because they are the ones who can convince their children of this and enhance communication between the residents of their country and them, as they spend the whole day with them

After reading this new article and watching videos, one important thing I learned was In 1996-2001, the Taliban imposed strict rules that prevent women and girls from doing many things, such as working and going to school, and this is a violation of women's rights, as education increases the girl's self-confidence, but at the present time the girl has returned to exercise her rights to education again without any restrictions, and this is a wonderful thing.

After reading this news article and watching the videos, one of the important things I learnt was to be understanding with Afghan children, whether they are refugees from Afghanistan, or born and brought up in the UK. It is important to know about this because these children have had a tough life, with backgrounds of war conflict constantly being related to their home country. It is not easy, in my opinion, to live your life with the incessant news about the Taliban taking over and war in Afghanistan. One of the children in the Newsround page mentioned how people always linked Afghanistan( and often Islam in general) to everlasting battle, rather than peace and beauty. The fact that a completely innocent child is experiencing feelings like this is shocking, and her words moved me. The person or group of people who need to know about this are governments and key figures of powerful countries ( such as the UK and America) as they have the ability to change the futures of both Afghanistan and its people.

After reading this news article and watching the vedios one important thing I learned was that apart from violence and war there's also a good side of Afghanistan that we are unaware of.
It's important to know about this because the world outside Afghanistan only knows about the war and destruction not about something good.
I think everyone need to know about this as it'll change there perspective regarding Afghanistan.

It is important to know about this because as I live in England nothing like this is happening and I only recently (a few months ago) learned about the Taliban and the crisis in Afghanistan. It is completely different from our reality here that it is shocking to learn of this. I think it has showed us all that we need to help the people stranded there in whatever way we can.

Thanks for your comment, believable_flower. I believe you're saying that articles like these help people understand what's going on in other parts of the world and, subsequently, raise awareness about needs for aid of all kinds. In your opinion, how can people help those currently in Afghanistan?

After reading this news article and watching the videos, one important thing I learned was to be kind to everyone because you never know what they are going through. It's important to know about this because one day you might even end up showing horrible behaviour to an Afghan student who has gone through the terrible issue of the war and maybe even lost their loved one.Would you want someone to do this to you after you have experienced a terrible situation? The person or group of people I think needs to know about this is EVERYONE because all citizens in the world should be generous to everyone - no matter what they have done to them.

After reading this news article and watching the videos, one important thing I learned was that the children from Afghanistan had to leave their lives at very short notice. They left a lot of things behind that would have been very important to them in order to feel safe after the Americans left. I cannot imagine leaving important things such as my friends, my relatives, my favourite toys and having to start again in a completely different country which may not even speak the same language.

It's important to know about this because it helps us to understand what has happened and how we can help these people settle into a new life in England. Sometimes, in the newspapers, refugees can be depicted in a negative way; these articles two the actual reality of the people who have suffered and had to leave their home.

The person or group of people I think needs to know about this is the newspapers because they need to show the reality of the situation and how it affects real people rather than stereotypes. They need to present the facts instead of using bias.

After reading this news article and watching videos, one important thing I learned was I am very lucky to be in a place I can call home and visit my relatives and I should understand not everyone has these simple things such as a home. Its important to know this because it is possible to become selfish and not care for other people and their mental health. The person or group I think needs to know about this are journalist, other people who would like to create a charity for a good cause and finally children. The reason why children is that they can become ignarent and need to be educated about this.

After reading this news article and watching videos, one important thing I learned was the Taliban are given the Afghanistan strict rules and I feel bad for the children that left their home and relatives behind. The Taliban are making people scared to live in Afghanistan and they won't allow people go to other places. I think that the American troops should have not left.

After watching and reading into this In my opinion we should know about this as it is a serious matter on how many soldiers were and are getting killed by the Taliban a militant group and should emphasize on the way how Afghanistan is being ruled and controlled also If we were in this kind of situation how we would feel about it .After looking in to what is happening to women rights in Afghanistan it is astronomically hard to believe that a girl can not go to school after the age of 10. The strict rules of no entertainment is absolutely over the wall as it is hard for a person not to watch television listen to music and watch a movie at the cinema . Who should now about it what I believe is that goverments and high rank people should know about this as they have a hand of power so they can help this country to be a awesome country ,ruled and controlled in a fantastic manner .

Learn about life for afghan children in the uk.
After reading this news article and watching the videos , war in Afghanistan must stop because war is the most deadly crimes people ever committed against humanity . I can share afghan people their feelings, sympathy, thoughts and sadnesses because I'm as a Palestinian citizen I've lived many wars form the beginning 2014 till 2021 which are considered the worsth and the most bloody . War creats alot of destrucion and ruins .i lived very bad experienc under fire, blow up bombs, killing infants ,children, youth, and old peopl .War teaches me what does mean assassination ,battle field, battle ships and blockade.l saw how Air force bombards our homes, schools, streets and mosques. To ve honest, we live in un safe climate , all peopl without any exceptional suffer from the consequences of War starting with poverty, razing lands and destroying properities, prisoners of War,blockade.they make us as Buffer Zone from other areas as well as, immigration every person want to immigrate from his country because of War they make illegal immigration because of poverty, disemployment and many reasons which considered the conclusions of the war. İn my point of view, İ think the two sides of the committed War are suffering so why shouldnt we stop War and live in peace and no öne penetrates the others right. When do we should live in permanent peace deal without the sounds of artillery and aresenal and build our country, got the feel of security.İ think children should live in safe without any mentall and phycological disorders and interests thier life without lose their families
Öne last sentence, there is no any similarity between the children who lives under War such as afghan ör palestinians and who lives in uk

Thank you for sharing your difficult experience with us, and helping us to understand (even very slightly) what it must be like to live in a conflict. I especially like your last sentence that says all children are the same. Why do you think we forget this?

One of the most things I did was that the conflict and conflict in Afghanistan has lost generations and destroyed a world in which Afghans aspired to live in freedom and enjoy their legitimate rights. It is important to know this to know the amount of injustice and oppression experienced by the Afghan people and what it means from family and social disintegration, so it is necessary to look with humanity to disperse Families and children who were stranded and migrated to countries in search of safety and security. Perhaps the person they should know about. They are many and many who have experienced suffering, but through the news article, the personality of the 10-year-old (Mateen) became clear to us after him. About his family and relatives as a result of the conflict in Afghanistan and his distance from his cousins. We must pay attention to such victims who paid the price of the conflict there. Is it reasonable for a young child of this age to be away from his family. It is the time that a child needs to embrace his parents. Where are the rights of the child? ? Where is the humanity?? It is necessary to take many steps to find solutions through which to get rid of the consequences that hit Afghan society in all its aspects and categories

There is a lot that countries can do for displaced children in terms of providing humanitarian support, providing emergency protection for refugees, providing awareness sessions, psychological support, integrating them into society, providing recreational activities, facilitating the education process by providing stationery, books and bags, and not forgetting the most important support, which is providing security and safety away from conflict..

This news article explains a lot, It first says on how the terrible afghan people live their lives knowing out of nowhere. Everything they now could be gone. This is why children had the hardest part in the middle of it all. But some people are debating if american troops should have left afghanistan, mostly kids. People argue if they should have left, I think they should have left because they have their own lives to go back to. But they could have stayed because right now the Talibans are still in control. That is my opinion.
