The unseen Afghanistan

Naveed Noormal, one of this project's experts (ask him a question here!) has said:

The biggest flaw we have in Afghanistan is the misrepresentation...the aspects the outside world is exposed through media is mostly war and killings. They’re so far away from the reality on the ground -the positive side of the country...which I call it the ‘unseen Afghanistan.’

Naveed Noormal

The BBC has created an article called "A love letter to Kabul" (Kabul is the capital city of Afghanistan) where people write about its long and vibrant history.

Challenge:

  1. Read the article
  2. In the comments below, explain why you think its important that the world learns about the culture, beauty and history of Afghanistan and not just know about war and conflict.

Summarise your thoughts in just one paragraph.

"I think it's important for people to learn about the culture, beauty and history of Afghanistan because..."

I think that it is important for people to learn about the culture, beauty and history of Afghanistan

1- I must know the culture of Afghanistan because I like to research the culture of any town and know it because there must be a proper communication between my culture and the culture of Afghanistan and thus reduce the fear resulting from ignorance, as ignorance leads to Hate and avoid dealing with or clashing with those who are not similar to the person per se. I like to diversify the lifestyle. It is easy to notice the clear impact on the life of the individual resulting from getting to know other cultures. It is necessary to know the way their clothes, food, culture and religion match my cultures or not.

2- I like to get to know the beauty of Afghanistan, but do not enjoy its wonderful scenery. I like to watch wonderful scenes, for the war paints a terrible picture of the place in which it has erupted, and whoever seeks the truth sees a completely different reality from what this war left behind.

3-. I like to learn about the history of Afghanistan because I love research and knowledge. When I searched for its history, it was called the heart of Asia, so it was the meeting point of several civilizations that helped in the emergence of a civilization considered the greatest in the world in terms of history, civilization and the amount of arts that grew up in it. This is so cool

Awareness of other cultures makes you more positive, for example, that you traveled to a town that you do not know about, that could happen to you, anything that you do not think would happen. But if you know about the culture of other countries, this is great when searching and exploring. I feel myself revealing cultures when you travel and find that culture This country that I traveled to would be a wonderful cultural interaction and I would love to experience that feeling of traveling and seeing cultures other than my own that I see every day. Avoid too much of this, because we can understand the other's perspective and then can accept actions that we might consider wrong.

My question to Naveed Normal: How has your work as an expert helped you pay attention to the positives in Afghanistan? And in your opinion, does exaggerating the matter in terms of war and destruction will create great rumors that distort Afghan history?
Another question: If everyone realizes the positive aspects in Afghanistan, will this cause the war issue in Afghanistan to be neglected day after day?

I think that it is important for people to learn about the culture, beauty and history of Afghanistan because we have to know the people inside the beautiful interior, and thus the civilization and culture of Afghanistan will become a source of attraction for the attention of the world , Thus, it will become a tourist area, and then new economic activities will appear in the country, and trade will flourish, and this will increase the peace deals between the government of Afghanistan and the Taliban movement,Thus, internal peace will be achieved, and then an agreement will be made with the major countries on joint commercial projects, And this is how the state will prosper, it will have a strong economy, it will coexist with the Taliban movement, and women’s participation in economic activity and in the diplomatic and political corps will increase, that is, the state and its people will develop intellectually and economically.

    Question for Naveed Normal:
Were the war conditions and devastation in Afghanistan the only reason for forgetting the beauty and positive aspects of its culture? That is, for example, the State of Palestine is occupied by the Israeli occupation, but the tourism activity in Palestine is good and its ancient culture and civilization have not been erased,So if there is another reason to obliterate the positives of Afghanistan, what is it? And are political deceptions perhaps a hand in the formation of this other reason? And if yes, how?

    Question for Naveed Normal:
Facebook deleted the accounts of the Taliban and the accounts of those who support this group, and YouTube said that it will update any account managed by this group, and here we come to the basic question,
Why did social media not highlight the culture and history of Afghanistan, and only highlight the war and conflict? How can we exploit the global issue of climate change in order to spread environmental awareness and Afghan historical awareness?

    Question for Naveed Normal:

Were the battle conditions and obliteration in Afghanistan the principle justification for failing to take into account the excellence and fantastic elements of its manner of life? That is, for example, the State of Palestine is concerned by using the Israeli occupation, however the journey industry movement in Palestine is appropriate and its antiquated culture and improvement have not been deleted, So in case there's one greater motivation to demolish the up-sides of Afghanistan, what's occurring right here?
Furthermore, are political duplicities perhaps a hand in the development of this other explanation? Furthermore, if indeed, then how?

Facebook erased the records of the Taliban and the records of the people who support this gathering, and YouTube said that it will refresh any record oversaw by this gathering, and here we go to the fundamental inquiry,

For what reason did online media not feature the way of life and history of Afghanistan, and just feature the conflict and conflict? How would we be able to take advantage of the worldwide issue of environmental change to spread ecological mindfulness and Afghan chronicled mindfulness?

I think it's important for people to learn about the culture, beauty, and history of Afghanistan. Knowing just the negative sides of Afghanistan such as wars and violence will let the government more down and the people will have to suffer through it because it will lead to misconceptions about Afghanistan. The world will not see Afghanistan as a cultural and beautiful country but just as a country of terrors and wars. It will lose its name in the international market. So to avoid this kind of judgement knowing about the culture, beauty and history of Afghanistan is very important.

In fact, I am certain that the painful story dominates the sweet story, but the opposite is true, but what everyone knows, and is certain of, is that beauty, history and a distinguished geographical location, make the ambitions of major countries, wandering in their streets, trying to seize It is, but this is a mistake. If you like something, you should strive to be like it and to surpass it, not to seize it.

I think it is important for the world to see Afghanistan's beauty because then people will think it is a horrible place or that the people there are different to themselves. The article shows that the Afghan people enjoy the same things we do, do the same things we do and deserve the same chance of a life that we have.

I don't think we hear about the 'good' sides of Afghanistan because the media choses stories that shock and gain people's attention. They only give one perspective of the country as it sells more stories.

I think it's important for people to learn about the culture, beauty, and history of Afghanistan because to be honest, Afghans and their culture are very strong. The Taliban has been in Afghanistan since 1994! Their culture is still standing strong today. Don't even get me started on the beauty of Afghanistan, I have an uncle who travelled to Afghanistan in 2018 and the pictures he sent were breathtaking, beautiful mountainous areas, lush green valleys and snow-capped mountain peaks, Afghanistan is truly one of the most gorgeous places on earth. Many, if not all countries can learn from Afghanistan because even after years of persecution and suffering their cultural heritage is rock solid!

I think because my culture is my honorable title to draw a road map that illuminates my future with culture, as it is important in our past, present and future. Culture can change and be replaced from time to time every minute and every other, but we will maintain it as long as we are in our land. The ratio and level of education greatly affect efforts to preserve heritage . The higher my level of education, the more attention was given to the past, and when I became aware of falconry and its importance, I have one goal in life, which is to preserve my culture in Palestine, an appreciation of the person and a desire to preserve everything that is old. Education is what makes a person aware of this culture and its importance, and that he must preserve it

How was the war in Afghanistan?
Time after time, the tragedies of wars are repeated, and history preserves intense symbolic images and scenes that summarize the bitter reality of the years of war and its actors, as well as its innocent and civilian victims, and people were feeling fear, anxiety and tension.

I think that people must know about the secrets and great beauty of this grand city (Afghanistan) as so to know that now, it is safe and is ready for its population to increase once more. Afghanistan's superb sunsets and sunrises ,which happen both at around nightfall and once again in the morning, can not be described. All of people's worries about this once perilous, precarious place should be instantly be desolved. It should be about time for all of the lost secrets to be found once more and fore the rope to be cut.

think that it is important for people to learn about the culture, beauty and history of Afghanistan, because the war has painted an ugly picture of it as a result of the devastation and conflicts. But everything has a bright face and whoever is looking for that face and that reality is completely different from what the wars left behind. Thus, we cannot ignore the history that its owners made with strength, solidity and courage. There is no doubt that we must look at the aspect that the Afghan ancestors paid for, and it cannot be denied, from the presence of statues such as the Buddha statue that was destroyed by the Taliban and the presence of the mosque in Herat and the city of Herat, west of Kabul, an ancient historical city. A tourist area that enjoys natural landscapes and geological effects, in addition to valleys and green fields, and here is the state of (Bamiyan), which was included in the UNESCO Heritage List. Afghanistan is beautiful, cultural and historical, no matter how tarnished by wars and the hands of the combatants
