Climate Change

I think that in this news club, we all agree that climate change is a big issue. At FCC today we talked about what we can do to help climate change. We had a bit of a debate, should we really try to help if we are not going to stop it completely? Also we discussed the issues of climate change and how to slow it.

We talked about Greta Thunberg and how she started all this. We also spoke about whether 1 person could make a change or whether it was a group that made a difference.

I want to know your ideas for slowing climate change if you read this, and also whether one person can make a change, or whether its more of a group of people?

I think a group of people could make more of an impact than 1 person. I think of it like a bowl of peas. You have a bowl of peas and there is one stray sweetcorn in it. The person (who’s eating it) is likely (at first glance) to look at the bowl of peas and think peas, not sweetcorn. The peas are making the impact here. It’s like if a group of people all get together, and all having the same view, will be more effective than just 1 person who everybody else thinks is wrong or don’t believe in them. However, I believe that a big movement, like the Climate Change protests, all start of with one stray sweetcorn/person (at the moment, probably Greta Thunberg). I know it’s a strange way of putting my reason but I can’t think of another way to explain my view!

I disagree with you excited passion fruit because in your example, the fact that person is famous makes a big difference. If you had a cola bottle instead of a piece of sweet corn the person who was eating it would choose the cola bottle over the bowl of peas but under different circumstances such as the instigator wasn't famous I would agree with you excited passion fruit.
