In out BNC lesson this week, we learned about open mindedness.
Thr reasons that I thought, and my friends, are
- We started the agreement in the first place.
This is a true fact. We were the people that took Hong Kong away from China. So while the people of China adapted to new rules, Hong Kong grew used to our rules. So when China took them back, they weren't used to the new rules, escpecially the trial in China.
- China broke their agreement with us
China was the one who broke the agreement. In the ' 1 country 2 system' agrreement said overall, China had to give Hong Kong democracy until a certain time, the people of Hong Kong say they are not giving them all the rights. So because we were the ones who did the agreement we should.
- Us and Hong Kong have a history
What I mean by this is that, us and Hong Kong have a history of almost 100 years. They have been living under all the same rules and speak the same language as us.
- It will ruin our relasionshp with China.
We have imported over 45 billion worth of goods to China, at any time if they fall out wwith Britain, thy could stop giving us those items.
- China has the biggest army in the world.
This was one of the facts on our sheet. Our army - in Bitain - can fit into a football stadium. If you look at China, they have a big country. There army is huge, if they fall out with eachother, we could have conflict.
- It will split families.
Some people who were born in Hong Kong live in China, and some who were born in China live in Hong Kong. If we make an agreement, it might split families, which will make things worse.
I agree with we shouldnt help. It sounds bad, but its best for everyone. People shouldn't break the law, then they won't go into China. People in my class also say that if they dont like it there, they can move countries, or adpt to the new rules.
Thank you for reading my post.
