Aung San Suu Kyi criticised (2)

2018-Issue1_Featured-Myanmar_4.jpg

I think she has done good things and don't really think she should be criticised. She maybe could have said more things about Myanmar and the Rohingya refugees( as she is the leader) but overall in her life she has done good things.

Recently she has not been known as good as before but she is a good person who's done important things.

I agree with you positive leaf because she is blanking out her own country and acting like this has nothing to do with her even though she is the leader. it doesn't make sense

Good writing but I don't agree. I think she should be doing so much more. See "Wake up, Aung Sang Suu Kyi" for details.

Hi breathtaking_deer. It seems to me that you think a person is bigger than their actions. This is an interesting view. Why might someone disagree with you, and think that her recent actions override what she has done in the past? Perhaps someone else could provide some ideas here too!

      Hello Olivia!
In my opinion, I think that actions are bigger than the person. I think this because the actions the person make are one of the elements that makes a person but in the same time, you can't have a person who doesn't act and you can't have an act without some responsible for it's cause.

I disagree and partly agree with you she has done amazing things, yet she really needs to speak out on these problems instead of just ignoring them. Terrible, disgusting things are going on in Myanmar and she is avoiding solutions to make Myanmar a better country, when she has been fighting for such a long time to do so.

I really don't agree with you she really hasn't done anything to help the situation anything and, as the video said, she hasn't done anything for a whole year.

I believe she should be because she is the one in control of her country and she is basically not batting an eyelid towards the issues of prosecution and being refugees. Blaming terrorists and this and that is not helping her case and making excuses is just making it worse.

Honestly, I do partly agree with your statement. Her even wanting to fight for Myanmar's human rights is a challenge in itself and takes a really selfless person to stand up to the government and voice her opinion on what should happen; but at the same time, being a human rights activist means you have to dedicate yourself to fighting for people's rights and by her not doing anything and ignoring the situation even longer means that the situation will get worse and become bigger and even more out of control than it already is! If she really wants to keep up her reputation and keep people in believing that she can change Myanmar for the better, she needs to step up and voice her opinion like we are doing right now. The situation won't go away itself, it needs people to grab it and challenge it.

imaginative_mode got a star for their comment because they used great reasoning to link ASSK's activist past to why she should act now.

I agree with what you have said she has done great things but she hasn't really shown any help towards this current situation and is now blaming it all on terrorists.

I think your post is well written, however I disagree with some of the things you have said. Aung San Suu Kyi should be criticized because she is doing nothing to help her people. She needs to stop blaming and start helping

I think she has every right to be criticised because after my recent research it shows she doesn't even know my the refuges are fleeing her country so that doesn't show good leadership to me

I think that Aung San Suu Kyi should be criticised because, although she has done good things in the past, she has to act now, or this crisis could become even worse, and dangerous for her country's reputation, alliances and standing, as well as for the Rohingya. Mrs Suu Kyi has not spoken out, although she had the chance which would have helped stop the persecution, and I believe that she should have, though it may have meant that the military put her under house arrest. She even though it may have meant that, she should have said something, as it her duty to try to promote and preserve peace as a Nobel prize winner, and isn't the peace and safety of hundreds of thousands of people worth more than the confinement of one person?
On the other hand, if she had spoken out, she may have been put under house arrest once more. Also, she may have sparked anger in the Myanmarese Buddhists, causing them to revolt or become rebellious. This would be bad for her country and position as it would make it easier for the military to take back over, which would undo all the good work she did, which even won her a nobel prize.
I think that, although what she did in the past may have been good, and protective of peace, that does not mean that what she is doing now is right, or peace preserving, or observing of the criteria for the nobel peace prize. She may have done good things before, but that does not necessarily impact the way we should feel about what is happening in the present, as it is different from what happened then.

I think Aung San Suun Kyi should be criticised due to her lack of action towards the main conflict of her country. Thence leading to the continuing of the fleeing of the Rohingyans.

In my opinion, Aung San Suu Kyi should be criticised, she arrested two innocent reporters and she is treating Rohingya unfairly. She did do great things in the past, but i believe she is now the one to blame for the crisis. Also, she should know how unfair it is to be held captive innocently, she herself had to experience it and im sure she didn't like it. It is her country and she should be doing something about this crisis, and accept Rohingyas.
