Crisis in Myanmar!

The country of Mayanmar has been invaded by the military because of their religion. I have been interviewing some witnesses for evidence and they have given me some first hand experiences.

The first person I interviewed was Aung San Suu Kyi because in my opinion, as the presidant of Mayanmar, she knows a lot about the country and its issues. She said,"We are concerned to hear that numbers of Muslims are fleeing across the border to Bangladesh. We want to find out why this exodus is happening." I am sceptical about her response as I feel that as she is President of Myanmar, she should know what is happening in her country and to her people as there is a lot of evidence that tells the story of what is going on. I would question why she does not know this.

To find out more about the situation on the ground, I met with Kobir Basar who is a member of the Rohingya. He told me that he had first hand experience of what is happening in Myanmar. He told me, "The military set fire to our house and were chasing people and killing them. That's why we had to try to escape. I saw this all with my own eyes." Kobir is a first hand witness of the horrors that are taking place in Myanmar and I find it astonishing that Aung San Suu Kyi remains unaware of this.

It can be difficult to report on the situation in Myanmar with so many different viewpoints and perspectives. However the Red Cross who are on the ground, working in refugee camps support the fact that over 700,000 Rohingya people have fled their homes through fear of the military. Reference:

To end my report I think we should consider what life is like for the Myanmar refugees. As one child said, "I miss my home and I want to go back if peace is guaranteed but I don’t know when that will happen." Abdulla
