Myanmarese crisis- points of view

We have been given a quote from a Rohingya refugee , Kobir Basar, it said that “The military set fire to our houses and were chasing and killing our people.” This was in very different from the state counsellor, Aung San Suu Kyi, who said that this was the doing of terrorists and the military causing this was nothing more than fake news.

This provokes a large dilemma: do we trust the first hand witnesses or the noble-peace-prize-winning leader of the country? In my opinion, I am sceptic of Aung San Suu Kyi because there is photographic evidence of the military doing theses. Although, the eye witnesses could be confused from the chaos and panic of having loved ones brutally murdered, I don’t think most Rohingya refugees who gave a statement could have misunderstood the situation.

Considering, Aung san Suu Kyi is uncharge of the military she might not want to claim responsibility for this massacre so she is pretending that she did not do this. But, the refugees do not have a reason to lie about what happened so it wouldn’t seem logical. What do you think?
