Who got your seat?

At first I gave the seat on the bus to the man with the two kids but then I changed my seat on the bus to the pregnant lady.

Hi amazing_blackcurrant! Well done for being the first BNC member to write a post on the new site! It's good to hear that you have had some ideas about this activity from session one and it's interesting to hear that you changed your mind. Why did you decide to give the seat to the pregnant lady? I would like to hear you reason for this and to see what other BNC members thought about this activity!
I changed my mind because the pregnant lady could have felt dizzy or could have had to go to the hospital.
I agree to this post because this is a generally nice thing to do!
I would give up my seat for anyone who needs the seat because my bones are still strong and its part of kidnesss

I agree with this post because it depends on the needs of the person
I agree good hedgehogs it depends on the need
I also agree because if she got hit by another person it could injure the baby
10 Sep 2018
I disagree because a pregnant lady can easily hold on to a bar.
But the pregnant lady could fall and hurt herself and the baby.
I agree with you wise pomegranate. But,what about the old lady? She could have a serious injury too!
But so could all the others!
I know she could hold on to the bar but it would be much better if she had a seat
I would give my seat personally to the pregnant woman because she might be in pain or feel dizzy

I agree because the pregnant lady's legs could get tiered from holding the baby

Hi BNC members,
Can any of you answer this questions using the seat task to support your answer...
Is treating people fairly the same as treating people equally?
Hi Tiff, I do not think that treating people fairly and equally are the same. If we were to treat them equally then every person would either get a seat or none would get one. To treat people fairly then the person who needs it most would get the seat. In my opinion this should be the elderly person because they are most at risk of falling over and getting injured. The pregnant lady may get tired but she is not ill or at risk. The man with the two children and the one with the broken leg could hold on to the bar so they could manage.
Hi industrious_moon.
You've been awarded a star for this comment. You responded directly to my question (which is great for developing discussion) and you very clearly explained the difference between fair and equal using the task to give good reasons.
Well done!
Thank you!
I agree but how about if the was a sudden move the pregnant lady is holding lots of weight she could fall and damage the baby?
Treating people equally is the same as treating people fairly. You shouldn’t treat some differently just because they’re a different skin colour;different religion or because they have a different opinion. We all have the right to a voice and to be heard.

I agree completly because the pregnant lady will eventually become tired and need a seat so she doesn't hurt herself or the baby
the pregnant lady might not feel in pain but someone else might
11 Sep 2018
I agree with this post because of how the pregnant women has more needs than some of the other citizens and sometimes you should treat people differently because of their different needs
11 Sep 2018
I would give my seat by asking who got their first and decide whose being truthful. even though they might need a seat, they can still be truthful.
11 Sep 2018
I would give my seat to whoever needed it most like someone might think i'm ok standing but someone else looks like they're in pain so whoever felt they needed it most would get my seat .
11 Sep 2018
I would give it to the one who needs it the most
11 Sep 2018
I Would give my seat to the person who really needs the seat
11 Sep 2018
I would give the seat to the man with the broken leg because if he puts pressure on his leg he will make it worse
I like your point of view but I personally think the pregnant woman or the man with two children wold be the best answer : )
I would give the man with the broken leg a seat because he would need lots of rest since its the leg not hand
11 Sep 2018
I will treat everyone fairly and equally because everyone in the options would deserve it
Your name suits you
12 Sep 2018
I would give my seat to the person who is mostly is in pain or the person who hasn't sat down for ages
14 Sep 2018
I would give my seat to the pregnant lady because one she is pregnant two because the baby is heavy and she probably has tired legs and three we don’t know how many baby’s she has got in her stomach she might have triplets!!!

for an elder person because they could be hurt and have a broken arm also have a bad back

Imagine if the two men had a secret disability. What would you think about that ?
yeah if they had like mental disability and the pregnant woman should probably not travel by bus or they might fall and hurt the baby badly
A mental disability does not change anything in my view
19 Sep 2018
the pregnant lady could be in the most pain out of the other people i would give the seat to her
I agree with you because the pregnant lady could be in unbalanced and she might hurt the baby.

I am not sure but I would probably give my seat the elderly woman
20 Sep 2018
I personally agree with you, because the older lady is at a greater risk as she is of older age, therefore making her more vulnerable to injury herself if she does happen to fall over. As well as that the majority of older people have illnesses (such as parkinsons) which makes them more wobbly on their feet.
Also, the man with crutches could hold onto the side with one hand and his crutches with the other hand, to make him more balanced.
The man with two children can hold onto the side with one hand (along with the children) and/or hold hands with the children, and make a chain if they are to small/he feels more comfortable to do so.
Although the pregnant woman is carrying some extra weight, that does not make her anymore weaker than she already was before, therefore she can also hold onto the side.
Alternatively, if you saw that the other people were sitting down on the bus that could potentially give up their seat, you could always ask them to give up their seat too. Despite that other people can argue against that saying that they might have an injury/illness that is not noticeable to the human eye.

I would my seat up to anyone that needs help.
30 Sep 2018
Also its a sense of respect
02 Oct 2018
I would give my seat to the elderly people or somebody who has broken there arm also leg and somebody who has a baby.
02 Oct 2018
You are so kind and helpful.
thanks
beacuse they need to seat down if not they will be tierd
04 Oct 2018
I agree on your idea of the pregnant lady but why did you chose them? I chose the man on crutches because he was in pain -as you could see he had a frown on his face- he also looked uncomfortable. Yet after reading other posts and looking at other peoples points of views I would now give my seat to the pregnant lady because she is at risk to not only hurting herself but hurting her baby as well.
04 Oct 2018
I agree because even if the pregnant lady is holding on the rails the baby inside her belly might move around and it might pain her.
05 Oct 2018
My seat went to the pregnant woman because if she fell on her belly she may give the baby a miss carriage and also she could be really tired with achy legs and could faint. She will also have a sore back
08 Oct 2018
I would give me seat to the old lady because she wouldn't be able to stand up like the other people and she can easily loose her balance.
Haha
08 Oct 2018
I agree because the pregnant lady could get hurt and hurt the baby
12 Oct 2018
Well I think everyone who is sat down should get up and give the all the seats it’s not fair to only pick 1
12 Oct 2018

No beacuse a elderly is old and sometimes strugle to walk.
15 Oct 2018
i gave my seat to the man in crutches because if he fell over he would damage his injury even more and you would feel worse if you didnt.
21 Oct 2018
I think that all of the victims deserve a seat in my right mind , but personally the man with the crutches has balance with them and the elderly lady has a walking stick , and yes the man has two children with him , but he has perfect balance with no broken bones and no weaker legs , which makes me fall over to the pregnant lady , I think she does deserve the seat because , if an emergency happens she could collapse and damage the baby and hurt her self ! Overall : the pregnant lady
