Hello, I am protective_dusk, and I am here to discuss 'Why do people protest?'
So first of all, what is protest? Protest is where people debate and sometimes get quite aggressive to get their rights and their wrongs. They can gather on the street and chant specific phrases and, if they really need to do it, they can fight. This can cause serious bodily harm, and people are usually put under arrest if they do this. The police have to be very well trained to cope with this, because sometimes them, and their vehicles ( Shown in the picture above) can get targeted. This is very serious protest.
Now, I am going to talk about my question, 'Why do people protest?'
People protest because they want specific rights or wrongs. This may be because they do not agree on how the country should be run, or because they think their political leader has made the wrong decision. A big example of protest, was the Hong Kong Crisis. The reason why it started was the legislation of the 2019 Hong Cong extradition bill. This lasted quite a while, and it was very severe. Overall, this is not very nice.
But also, the police can almost overact to protest. If a person is just going through the street protesting, but doing it in a sensible manner, it would not be fair on them if a bunch of policeman charges towards them and sends them to prison. There is no right or wrong opinion, and I think people can protest, but do it without any illegal actions. And without harming anyone or anything.
