What makes a person a Refugee?

Refugees and Responsibility – Featured Image 7

A refugee is a person who was forced out of there country caused by a war or violence. When a war starts in a country, people have to leave their country which makes the people transform into a refugee. When you are a refugee, you have to find a place for you and your family to live in and when this happens there is a lot of pressure. Pressure is a big thing for refugees because there is pressure for you to find a sensible home, there is pressure for you to find food for your family and there is pressure for you to live. Life as a refugee can be difficult to imagine. Imagine being forced to flee your country in order to escape to safety. You would of needed to pack your bag's and the things you need to live but the problem is there is no time for that. Every human being deserves a life free from persecution and discrimination.

Many countries around the world have people leaving there country everyday from an invasion or war. Some children are born as refugees and the countries which have the most refugees are the ones in or near the middle east. The country which had the most refugees was Syria which was invaded by Russia in 2011-2018. In my belif, all the countries in the world are all going to have wars.

My question to you is:

Do you think we should let refugees in our countries?

Should refugees be treated fairly?

What would you do if you were a refugee?

    1. I believe that first we should let refugees in our country for the sake of the UNHCR convention which oblige all the world's countries to accept refugees, a second reason stands for humanity, like we've to put ourselves in their shoeses and to imaging the worse of the problem to keep them away it by having them. However, most countries don't abide by the convention and disagree with humanity having their say to protect their country.
    2. For sure all refugees with no exception must be treated fairly for the reason that they were vulnerable citizens in their countries but were obliged to flee to not lose their souls, then they're humans like us with the deservation of Human Rights.
    3. If I were a refugee i would probably try hard to find an occupation in my host country, to work hard and live valually and peacefully with my rights and maybe to own a citizenship, but if I weren't treated fairly i would Shout Out for my rights, organize peaceful protests and press charges on the ones disrespecting me.

If I was to be a refugee, I would stand up for my rights and protest together with the other refugees and make them believe that we will wake up from our slumber one day. I will do this because people do not value refugees as humans and the way the media shows refugees as face-less masses make the viewers dehumanize them and we need to stop it as soon as possible because refugees can also bring in benefits to the host country such as enriching their culture.
Someone who disagrees with me might say that the refugees protesting will starve because they don't have money to purchase food. But I completely stick to my idea because before helping the other refugees, I will first have to settle in my host country and try to present my idea of helping the refugees to organizations such as the UNHCR and with their help the refugees will be able to get adequate water, food and basic needs in short.

Q1. It is good to help people who are suffering and lack basic needs like shelter, food, clothes, medication, and education. If a country hosts refugees, the host country can provide them with security and basic needs. The refugee efforts can help create jobs, raise the productivity, and wages of local workers, lift capital returns, stimulate international trade and investment, and boost innovation, enterprise, and growth.

Q2. I would help to improve the socio-economic conditions of refugees and host communities through an integrated service delivery approach. I would also advocate for peace-building and conflict resolution programs.

Q3. We should treat refugees fairly because they are humans like us and also need the rights that we enjoy for personal development because they are humans and need to be treated with dignity.

Yes, I support the presence of refugees in my country. He should think about the issue on the other hand. These people were in their normal lives, and the occurrence of conflicts forced them to flee and leave everything to preserve their lives. I say that justice must be given to these individuals, they should obtain certain rights as the nationality of the host country. As for what to do if you are a refugee, he told you that my grandparents were forced to leave their homeland, Palestine, and settle in Jordan. I found this country that completes the homeland, and I gave Jordan the same rights to education and health in the country, and we do not feel that we are not the children of this country.

If I was a refugee, I wouldn't let such issue to stand infront of my future and success, I know I'll suffer a lot but this can't stop me from moving forward, I would write some books and spread them everywhere to let the world know that refugees are humans and they deserve to live, to write how I am suffering.
Let's take an example of refugees that never let such issue an obstacle infront of their success:
    1) Albert Einstein, yes as you saw Albert Einstein the winner of noble prize for his scientific discoveries was a refugee who was forced to flee Europe due to the rise of nazy party there.
    2) Even Victor Hugo the famous writer was a refugee as he foresaw expulsion from Brussels he took refuge on British territory.
As you can see the biggest scientists and writers and successful people were refugees but they kept going on. So a message for my refugees friends, don't ever stop because of this issue, because there is always a chance, and you'll have it.

I completely agree with your points amazing_reflection. Refugees are everywhere, on the streets, at workplaces and even in the comic books, children read. The DC comics of superman were actually made by two Jewish refugees and the comic itself was based on a refugee. Superman was a refugee blasted from the dying planet of Krypton and landed on earth for his own safety. Kal-El was his name on the planet Krypton and was given the name Clark by a Kansas Couple. Superman was made by Joe Shuster and Jerry Siegel who were sons of poor Jewish immigrants and I think they got the idea of superman from what they faced in the past. Children normally watch the television shows but don't know the meaning or the point and I think a good parent is a parent who gives the child the meaning of the show they watch because most of the shows children nowadays watch are educational but children will see the point of these movies and comics like, good guys always win or fighting is the best way of curbing a problem which is wrong.

I 100% agree with amazing_reflection because the phrase that convinced me that refugees are not useless is Refugees=Humans. This phrase changed my life and if I was a refugee I would work my way up and all the way up so I can reach success. Another thing I want to say about famous refugees is "Famous or not, refugees bring much more than their belongings with them to their new countries".

Refugees must be treated fairly and justly because this positively affects societies and individuals
The increase in the production of the individual and his love for his work and his country, because the application of justice to each individual in his work makes him more committed to the implementation of laws to complete his work to the fullest. Balancing justice makes the individual feel that he has a right to himself and to others as well, so everything is in proportion
