Are we the only living life form in the universe?
There is alien life:
What are the odds that alien life exists elsewhere in the universe? In 1961, astronomer Frank Drake wrote an equation to quantify the probability of finding an advanced civilization elsewhere in our universe. The equation took into accountfactors such as the fraction of stars with planets around them and the fraction of those planets that were capable to hold life. The universe is astonishingly big. The Milky Way has more than 100 billion stars, and there are over a trillion galaxies in thevisible universe, the tiny fraction of the universe we can see. Even if habitable worlds are rare, their sheer number – there are as many planets as stars, maybe more – suggests lots of life is out there.
Water is a key ingredient for life as we know it. And water, surprisingly, is fairly common in our solar system. For example, evidence is building that liquid water may flow underneath the surface of Mars. Europa, a moon of Jupiter, appearsto also have a liquid ocean and so might its moons Callisto and Ganymede. Saturn's moons Titan and Enceladus also have evidence of water. This builds the evidence that aliens do exist. Planets with water are the only planets that can be inhabited (so we think)and even in our solar system some of our planets may hold life. Never mind the rest of our Universe which will also be likely to hold water, meaning they are habitable for extraterrestrials, more evidence aliens exist.
Alien life may occur outside of Earth and which may not of started on Earth. Since the mid-20th century, active ongoing research has taken place to look for signs of alien life. Depending on the category of search, methods range from the analysisof telescope and specimen data to radios used to detect and send communication signals.
The concept of alien life, and particularly alien intelligence, has had a major cultural impact, chiefly in works of science fiction. Over the years, science fiction has introduced a number of theoretical ideas, each having a wide range ofpossibilities. Many have piqued public interest in the possibilities of extraterrestrial life. One particular of attempting communication with alien intelligence. Some encourage aggressive methods to make contact with intelligent alien life. Others argue todo so may give away the location of Earth, making an invasion possible in the future.
There isn't alien life:
The universe is large, and old, with time and room for intelligence to evolve, but there’s no evidence of it. Could intelligence simply be unlikely to evolve? Unfortunately, we can’t study alien life to answer this question. But we can studysome 4.5 billion years of Earth’s history, looking at where evolution repeats itself, or doesn’t. We have been totally unable to discover proof of alien life. A British scientist has claimed that humanity could be alone in a universe that’s totally not possessingof alien life. Nick Longrich, a senior lecturer at the University of Bath, has said that the evolution of intelligent life on Earth (us) is so unlikely it may have happened just once. It comes down to whether intelligence is a probable outcome of natural selection.
There is such a small chance that there is alien life exists that we have come to stop believing that it does. There are not many other planets in the solar system that hold water meaning that alien life may not exist. But still we don’t know if they need water to survive. That may be our weakness.

Well done for writing such a well thought-out post. I especially like how the reasons you have given on both sides of the argument have lead you to your conclusion. If you think the chances of life on other planets are so low, why do you think humans are so fascinated by it? Why do you think popular culture (films, TV, books) love to reference it?
olivia is correct I love it

I believe we aren't the only life in the universe! There is a lot of unknown areas of space that we have yet had the technology to reach that may have similar qualities to earth allowing life to live. Also many types of life even on our own planet has evolved over time to adapt to different biomes and habitats, this means that there may be life forms that don't require the same requirements as humans and other lifeforms meaning things such as water, that you mentioned is present on a large portion of other planets anyway, that we need to survive may not be needed on other planets.
Yes. Thank you.

Since there is a lot of space that is not yet discovered, there could be another planet which we could discover soon. If climate change gets way to bad we could all escape to that planet. On that matter, we don't yet have strong enough travel to get 7.53 billion people to a separate planet. In the future, scientists will probably develop equipment to take this many people to space.
Excellent post accomplished_reality and careful_science! And, great comment free_iceberg because it got me thinking about extremophiles here on Earth. As we know, there are plenty of organisms that adapt to extreme, harsh conditions that would be impossible for humans to survive. So, I think it’s possible that, somewhere in our universe, there may be life forms that have adapted to different landscapes to what we know exists on Earth. Perhaps life forms that do not require water or oxygen to breath may depend on other liquids and gases to exist, who knows? After all, biologists have already found one microscopic species, similar to a jellyfish, living at the bottom of the Mediterranean Sea entirely without the need for oxygen.
If we also look at one of the most toughest of all extremophiles, then it has to be this very bizarre eight-legged microscopic animal called the Tardigrade, also known as ‘Water Bears’. It is said to be almost indestructible because it is virtually impossible to kill a tardigrade. ‘You can freeze it, boil it, crush it, zap it with radiation, and deprive it of food and water for years! And it will wiggle back to life.’ They are found everywhere in the world, from the highest mountains to the deepest oceans. Tardigrades may even be alive on the moon due to a failed mission by an Israel probe that was carrying 1000’s of these tiny creatures and crash landed on the lunar surface in April this year. These ultra-tough critters are so remarkable that astrobiologists have even questioned the possibility of genetically engineering human DNA to incorporate tardigrade DNA so astronauts can withstand the deadly effects of long distance space travel to Mars.
In conclusion, I believe that the chance of life within our universe has to be quite high as tardigrades and other extremophiles have proven to us that life forms can thrive in the most extreme conditions, which I believe gives us a much broader scope for life elsewhere. Moreover, the universe is mind-bogglingly vast; there are potentially 11-40 billion habitable Earth-sized planets just within our Milky Way galaxy alone. And, there’s 200 billion galaxies in our observable universe. The problem is, of course, these planets are so far away and whether we ever find such a life is another matter.

Superb research to support your assertion that there is a chance of life within our universe. If you found creatures similar to the Tardigrades, would it be wrong to take them back to a lab for analysis?

I think that there used to be life on mars because people claim that they have seen rivers on mars and water is key to life and the planet could of dried up and it could of ended
Yes. Good idea.
12 Nov 2019
Well there could have been life forms on mars as there have been found to have traces of methane in the atmosphere. so, there could have been a population on mars that died out as it got further away or closer to the sun maybe, just like how we are inching towards the sun, it is referred to as decaying orbit. In conclusion, there are traces of perhaps a colonisation that was once on Mars but it has not properly been proved.

Who knows? This is a very interesting piece of work that you've written! We don't know but maybe in a couple of years, we could find out that there are different life forms. Space is a huge place so it's pretty unpredictable!
Thanks for being honest with your comment because some people lie 🤥🤥. That's nice mwana. Uganda is where I come from. 👏👏👏🙏🙏🙋🙋

I think that it is likely that there is other life in the universe and science can back it up science says it was a chance that earth has life so it can’t be the only one and even if your really religious god wouldn’t have only made one planet with life on it
13 Nov 2019
No, because there may have been other living creatures on other planets one million years ago and they have probably gone extinct due to natural causes or meteor showers etc. Therefore there might be no life or life source on other planets.
13 Nov 2019
Great job! :)
13 Nov 2019
I believe that there really could be life, other than on Earth, in the universe! After all, life could be as simple and as small as a tiny germ living on the surface of a planet! Also, I love your post - it has boosted my knowledge on space so much!
Where is the evidence for your point
13 Nov 2019
The university is collosal and old .But in my opinion we're the only living life form l know this because theres no other living thing (humans) that acually live in space .Others will argue that there is a real aliens on multiple other plants however l'm not sure if thats right. How is there ment to be a living creature ,exept from astronauts, on space without no plants ,no vicuals or oxygen.
Thank you for the time!
14 Nov 2019
In my opinion, we are not alone. As you say in the first section, over 100 billion galaxies, each contain at least 100 billion solar systems. That is a lot of planets! Our earth also has the right temperature, beachside if it’s place on the solar system. Not too cold to freeze, but not too warm to burn. There are other planets like this that scientists think may be able to sustain life. These are called exoplanets.
You do use another side to the argument. I disagree with this. Over 100 billion solar systems, and we are the only ones living? It doesn’t make sense to me. Aliens might not be green people with three eyes, we don’t know what they look like, but I still believe that aliens exist. I hope this has given a clear explanation of why I think aliens do exist.
14 Nov 2019
I really enjoyed reading your post. Well done : )
The universe is home to a lot of stars. And as research over the past decade has shown, perhaps at least 50 percent of those stars harbor planets. There are 10 billion galaxies in the universe we can see. Assuming an average of 100 billion stars per galaxy means that there is about 1 billion trillion. Water is something that we need every day in our lives. And apparently, liquid water is fairly common in our local solar system. For example, people working at the international space station say that liquid water may flow underneath the surface of Mars. Furthermore, Europa ( which is a moon of Jupiter ) is said to have a liquid ocean; another two of its moon may have oceans as well. Saturn's moons - Titan and Enceladus - show signs of water and even Venus.
However, I have the question of will these aliens be as much like us as we think and do they actually need what we have to survive? I did some research on these questions and I found this quote: ''Life on Earth might be a template for life in the universe.'' I think what this means is that, if aliens did know about us then they would be copying us. To add it also says that physical laws are everywhere. One example is gravity, it isn't something only existent in our solar system. It also says that since laws of physics exist they restrict the process of evolution. Therefore, they could either be not as developed as us or very similar. But since things like snakes and snails exist, it also says that there could be exceptions.

Nearly everywhere scientists go on Earth, they find new or old life: the ocean is about 12,100 feet deep. For example, Mars is a harsh environment, but some of the microbes found on Earth, including the one shown here found deep in a mine, could survive beneath the surface of the Red Planet. These findings of so-called extremophiles have lowered the bar of what aliens would need to survive.
A lot of people who I know believe that aliens exist. To back them up, witnesses have presented snapshots of flying saucers and debris from crash landings. I have seen videos on youtube and pictures online. If you look up pictures of alien sightings on youtube then you can find a lot of pictures. However, there is always the possibility that they are fake. A lot of the pictures do look far too up close and not so realistic to be real.

I think that aliens exist. This is because it's strange if we believe that we are the one and only life form in this universe.

Thanks for this research, balanced_singer. This is clearly a topic that has captured your attention! Which of all your points provides best evidence that aliens might exist, balanced_singer?
Wow, I can see why you earned a star! Good job!
This is really good.

I am sceptical to believe that there is intelligent life outside of our planet
However, with advancing technology,I might be proven wrong!
14 Nov 2019
This was a brilliant post accomplished_reality and careful_science, as it was about the much-debated subject of whether aliens do exist or not. Personally, I think that there are definitely some life forms out there, as no one understands how big the solar systems are. I do not, however think that little green men are wandering about on some planet. The life I believe that is yet to be discovered would be tiny organisms or bacteria that hardly anyone considers life as it is so small and unnoticeable. These are my views on the subject, what do you think?
14 Nov 2019
I agree because if space goes on forever like some people say it does , then it’s impossible not to have other versions of us most likely they’re identical versions of us that are the same level of skills as us on this planet for all we know we could be doubles!
14 Nov 2019
I think that we aren't the only living form in the universe. My reasoning is that if us, humans, have had this much time to develop, surely other intelligent forms of live have evolved on different planets. In my class last year, we also read a fictional book about the Frank Drake equation that proved there are aliens. I'm not quite sure on what it is and I don't fully understand it but if it proves it, why are we still believing otherwise? Is it because we don't trust him and his knowledge or is it because we don't want to believe it? I'm not sure. Anyway, another reason is that like you said, the universe is collosal and possibly infinite. We also learnt in our lesson the other day that there are 4000+ planets outside of our solar system and a fair amount are similar to Earth and possibly habitable for inteligient life. There have also been some UFO sittings recorded and there is lots of things to do with aliens in Area 51 in the USA. You could argue that this is just made up but personally I think it is real. If people keep doing it then they must think they are real or they have actually seen something that is a UFO or like one.
From a different perspective, however, you could argue that the chances of life on Earth are so slim that it is impossible for the same phenomenom to occur again. These people are also driven by the fact that we haven't actually seen aliens in person and if they were real then we would have seen them by now. However, I think we haven't seen them yet just because they are so far away so why would they bother coming near us or maybe they don't know about us. But the main question on my mind is that: why do we care? If aliens are real then why can't we just let them live their life and we can live ours. Why are we so interested in them? It's not like they're going to invade Earth like some people think they are. They are probably harmless so why do we need to know they exist? Again, I really don't know. Is it just natural curiosity or is it the fear that they will come to Earth with intentions to kill and destroy? Because if it's the second idea then I think that idea is daft. We wouldn't want to do that to them so why would they want that of us? Please can you say what you think.
succinct_leaves
A balanced piece, succinct_leaves. Can you find any scientific evidence about the development of life that supports anything in what you've written?
I also remember the book!

I believe that we are not the only life in the entire universe. Space and it's solar system is huge and we haven't explored all of it yet, so in the solar systems that we haven't, you never know if there will be humans there. It may even be the fact that Earth is the smallest planet that has humans, or maybe we're the biggest. You never know.
Good reasoning, valuable_insect. Do you think we'll ever find any other life?
I think we will. It’s a huge world out there, and we haven’t discovered all of it yet.
15 Nov 2019
No but we are now.Because the planets next to us mercury, mars and Venus all had their glimpse in the sun .Once mercury had water ,once Venus wasn't the hottest and once mars had oxygen.
15 Nov 2019
Our universe is so big it is incredible and because it is so big you never know there could be something, something out there like another life form. Plus there is tons of weird and awesome creatures on our planet so you never know there could be another type of life form out there.
15 Nov 2019
Very interesting post it really does make you think, is there another life form out there?
I think there is not alien life

15 Nov 2019
well there are kind of aliens on other planets because people have found bugs!
15 Nov 2019
We are not the only living things in the Universe... ...maybe or maybe not.
15 Nov 2019
There is still a great portion of space we haven’t explored, so i believe we aren’t the only life form! Other than the concept of Mars, I believe there will be places with living conditions. If not, conditions that life forms are able to adapt to! There may be more than one since space is so huge, but I believe that one day we will be able to take travel far enough with the development of technology and find at least one other existing life form!
17 Nov 2019
I agree with you observant mango. There are many undiscovered planets/universes that we have not discovered. Also, I think that someday in the future somebody/some people will live on Mars or any other place.
17 Nov 2019
I think there is more life out there.
This reason is a very good reason that many have used, and it is that we might have not discovered all planets, meaning there could be life source on those undiscovered planets. My question would be that if 'aliens' or life outside Earth isn't real, why does the word 'aliens' exist? Is it just our great imagination making these 'aliens' or outsiders? Although questioning why the word exists does not have a point, who created the term aliens?
Another thing is that if people from Earth go to live in another planet, that does not make them aliens. We also do not yet know if Space is finite or infinite so we can not say we have not explored a portion.
My strongest reason would be that there is life out there is that we might not be able to survive the gases on other planets, but other life in Space might. (For example) there are bad gases on Neptune that could kill us, but other life forms that are used to different things, experienced different things and maybe even born differently with a different look, e.g aliens, might be able to withstand those gases.
18 Nov 2019
Thank you and well done for finding out all that information!
18 Nov 2019
Well done for the amazing work!
18 Nov 2019
I think that there is other life out there, because in a TV programme called brainchild, it said that earth is in a special zone where it is not too close or too far away from the sun, which enables life to thrive here. In other solar systems, some planets are in the same zone, so there might be several other planets filled with life, we just don't know it yet.
Good evidence, determined_tree. This zone is often known as the 'goldilocks' zone because it is just right!
18 Nov 2019
I believe we aren't the only living form in the universe because there may be several planets out there that we still haven't got the technology to reach. For example, several small star-like planets have been discovered just outside our solar system.Who knows what we could find if we looked further?!
18 Nov 2019
i think so too
Humans have not yet discovered the whole of space and there may be aliens out there. However there is still no evidence that there are aliens so I think that there might be aliens in this universe.
18 Nov 2019
If there are conditions for living like water, air and gravity then there is no reason why there can't be other species of life out there.
19 Nov 2019
I believe that there is a parallel Universe but, I always think, who will find each other first?

Population on a different plane ( which most people know as aliens) have been a controversial topic for a long time now, yet it is near impossible to fulfil the curiosity that people have about this subject. Many people describe aliens as green creatures that go around in a UFO capturing humans, this I don’t understand as if they haven’t seen it there is no possible way to identify them.In conclusion to this, I believe there could possibly be so called aliens but aren’t yet discovered.
19 Nov 2019
I think we will find new life but not be able to live there because there is a lot of planets that we don’t know about like the 400 exo planets but they probably won’t be the right heat or enough oxygen because there are so many things the Earth has which helps us survive. I don’t think another planet will have every quality needed to be a planet for human to live on. There are so many other solar systems to discover nobody knows but it is possible.
20 Nov 2019
I do not agree with your ideas accomplished_reality and careful_science. The observable universe is approximately 90 billion light-years in diameter. There are about 100 billion galaxies, each with 100-1000 billion stars. In the Milky Way alone, there are roughly 10 thousand stars for every grain of sand on earth, and there are 20 billion sun-like stars, and scientists estimate a fifth of them have an Earth-like planet in its habitable zone. If only 0.1 % of those planets harboured life, there would be 1 billion planets with life. Something that might be preventing this from happening is great filters. Great filters is an almost impossible boundary for life to pass (.e.g. nuclear war, black holes, etc). These might be preventing life from advancing any further than us. Effective use of statistics, genius_flute. Do they prove anything, or just help us to understand probability?
I disagree genius_flute there are other lifeforms because there are several zones for stars and I believe that if the earth is the only planet with life and if we are the only life form why are their dogs on this planet
20 Nov 2019
I used the statistics to justify why I thought that alien life was so likely and that I did not agree with them. I simply think that life on other planets (assuming they are intelligent enough) might just be doing the listening, like us, thus us not detecting anything.
20 Nov 2019
I really like this post! I think that it is highly unlikely that we, humans, are the only living life forms in this universe, as it is a very large place. there would then, in my opinion, be aliens of some sorts.
aliens could need another sense we haven't developed yet to see, hear or feel them.
20 Nov 2019
Life developed on this planet because a chances, and evolution. The universe is huge, some say infinite. If this is the case, the chances are not too small that other life has not developed - they may not be similar to us in any way, or request the same sustenance, they may not even use the same senses; they may not be visible to use, or corporeal in our terms. However, I think that there is life, because the chances of life developing on another planet is not so small that in the universe which is so huge that light can take longer than the time since the forming of the universe to reach us, from some places, there must have developed life somewhere. Scientifically, the probability that there is other life, somewhere, is very high because of this, however we have a very small chance of ever contacting them, or communicating with them, because there would be language barriers, technology barriers, and we may even be looking at planets where life has developed, but we cannot see it yet, so do not believe it exists, because we are seeing light from thousands of years ago.
An open-minded perspective, beloved_chocolate.
20 Nov 2019
I very strongly believe we are not the only form of living creatures existing in space and I've always believed we can find some sort of life out there and I am always wondering about what could be our there. This is my main reason on why we should do a space exploration and come back with out of our world creatures.
20 Nov 2019
I agree with genius_flute I also disagree with carefull_science and accomplished_reality.I disagree because one these so called aliens might not exist, plus they might not need water as we don't now anything about aliens (even if they exist.) I strongly believe that they might not exist because their is no strong evidence that their could be alive. However all of the planets we have knowledge about are all very different, but most of them have maybe some water for instance mars may have water under it's surface. Although these creatures may not need water, or any vital keys to our life.
20 Nov 2019
I think alien life exists in some part of the universe because sientists think they have discovered water on Marsmean
20 Nov 2019
Please don't add, I had not finished yet
21 Nov 2019
I think that we are not the only life out there
21 Nov 2019
I don't think so because there are animals (obviously) but I believe there is another “animal"/atom(because it's so small) called "water bears" that are living on mars
21 Nov 2019
I think alien life exists somewhere in the universe because there must be some sort of life on all the planets there are
21 Nov 2019
Keep the good work up!
21 Nov 2019
I'm almost cetian that we are not the only life form because we haven't even explored 1% of the galaxy there is no way that we can tell that we are the only life form. It is very likely there will be another life form yet it may not be anything like we have imagined like there is still the debate if aliens are real not, my opinion is they might there could be billions of other life forms that we don't even know about. If we could up-level our technology at SPACE X or NASA we could look at life forms just through a computer it might be in 10 or so, years it would be that easy.
I definitely agree and this is what i have tried to show in my point.
21 Nov 2019
Good job
21 Nov 2019
I think we're not the only living species. Here are some reasons I think we're aren't the only living species in the galaxy.
Firstly, we don't know how many planets are in the galaxy so we can't really prove this but scientists have discovered 4,000 EXO planets and surely 1 planet must have some living species on those planets.
Secondly, there might be more planets outside the Milky Way that could have life on it. How many planets are out there? We don't know yet. The only way we can find out if there is life on planets is to explore those planets.
Finally, I've got proof that there was life on mars because there are holes of old lakes and tress that used to be on that planet but we don't know how Mars lost its life
Two well-explained reasons, resilient_apple. For your third, can you give us your evidence about the trees?
21 Nov 2019
I think that there is always a chance that we are not the only living life source of the universe and i think this because we have not see and explored every area of the universe and It’s planets.

A very open-minded comment, adventurous_tennis! What is the strongest reason from everything you have said?

Most of the universe is not discovered so , who knows what could be out there.
21 Nov 2019
Keep up the good work, its AMAZING !!!!!!!
21 Nov 2019
I think there is aliens or something out there in the universe
21 Nov 2019
N0 because there is scientific evidence that there are things like germs but no
actual human sized aliens.
21 Nov 2019
This is great, because it tells us information about life in space and gives us two opinions
21 Nov 2019
I believe that we are not the only living form on earth.
Firstly we have not discovered a lot of the galaxy so we can not say that we are the only living form because we don’t have proof.
Secondly there is so many more planets out in space that we have not discovered so you don’t know what could be living on them.
Thirdly we have not even travelled to every single planet that we know about so we can’t say that things are not living on them.
Fourthly if humans took a long time to develop then surely other living things could take a long time to do that means that we might of just not seen them yet.
Firstly because we have not explored a lot about the galaxy so how can we actually prove that we are the only living form.
I believe that we have still not discovered what is in space so you never know because we don’t actually have proof that there are no living things in space. So this means that I can not give you a complete answer because it is a mystery that needs to be found out.
We could find this out by using robots that can tell if something is near them but we could put cameras on them as well. If we just tried to find out it would be good because even if we failed in finding out the answer, then it would be ok because we still tried. Thank you your post really inspired me.
Well done for giving so many reasons!
22 Nov 2019
no because GOD made us to look after the animals we never know whats beyond the universe😁😁
22 Nov 2019
Maybe?
22 Nov 2019
So i personaly i believe that aliens and other life forms live outer space and one day i believe that we will find out that aliens are real by meeting them in some way
22 Nov 2019
I personally think that we aren't the only forms of life. Focus on what's down here on Earth- Robots, aren't they a different form of life?
Good thinking! They are not humans, so technically they are! Well done!
Yes, I think this does deserve a star.
24 Nov 2019
we do not know everything about space ,we don't know if there is life on any other planet in the universe. Some say there are but According to NASA, kepler-452, the star kepler-452b revolves around, has the same temperature, and is 20% brighter, and 10% larger in diameter than our sun. so this planet may have life as Nasa says but we are not quit sure.
also there may have life on mars because4 billion years ago mars had water so think there was life on mars.
24 Nov 2019
but GOD may have made a new life

Hi I think it is important to know and learn about other living things in other planets in case we move to another planet in the future .
25 Nov 2019
I believe that there is other life in our universe. We live in a zone called the Goldilocks zone, which is not too hot or too cold.We are fit to live there but not in any other area of the universe.Other species might be fit to live in different places of the universe. The question I have is Do other planets have resources we can use when ours run out?
Yes, do other planets have the resources to keep us alive?
26 Nov 2019
humans and animals and plants and maybe aliens
Yes, technically they are as they are not humans but does it count because they live on earth.
26 Nov 2019
In my opinion, we are not the only form of life. Instead of reaching into the deep, and looking for more life of space, why can't we focus down here on earth? Robots. We are trying to programme them to have human characteristics. ASIMO, the most intelligent robot on Earth, is programmed so strongly that It can kick a ball! As there are many robots in the world they have different techniques to live. They use electricity, we use air. But, does that mean fish are another form of life as they use water? Anyway, that is my point of view of why were NOT alone!
An interesting approach, memorable_orchard. Would robots ever be classed as life? And what would be the advantage of focussing on them rather than what's out in space?
Personally, yes. The advantage(s) would be:
It would decrease the amount of Space debris (500,000 items)
It would increase our knowledge about robots
If we focus on them more maybe in a few years time, we could be sending THEM into space.
However...
It would use large amounts o resources to do this
It would take a long time
It uses large amounts of electricity, which is unhealthy for the environment.
I personally think that robots do not count as a different life source as they live on earth. They are not a different origin of life as they 'breathe' the same things as us and they live in the same environment, an alien would not survive in the same conditions as us.
My second point is that we created them. They may not of existed if we didn't. This mean that they cannot be a different life form.
They also do not live on anything. Any creature in the WHOLE universe would have to live on something. Whether they breathe a certain type of air, or they live on different food or drink, they still have to live on something. Robots however are man-made and do not live on anything except charge for their batteries. But does this really count?
What if robots did live on something, because we had designed them to need something to continue existing? Would this change your mind?
Well referring back to my second point, it still doesn't change my mind. Even if they live on anything, we created them and they would not have existed if we hadn't. Also, any alien life would breed. If not then after a while they would die off so they must be able to reproduce. Robots however do not. They do not have babies. Yes they may be able to make them, but it would not be a true re-production. Therefore I do not think that robots count as any source of life.
Amazing facts accomplished_reality, I understand why you would disagree with me as those facts are true. But, if an alien couldn't live on our environment, then would that equal to us not being able to live on theirs? Meaning we would never get to see an alien. However, there are 7 billion people on our planet and not all of them are as sympathetic as others. For example, Trump, who wants to put a space force, would most probably abduct the alien for evidence that we should install a space force. But honestly, if anybody was to find an alien they'd be quite happy.
I agree, robots use electricity, we use air, and fish use water. But I do not think that it counts. Fish are not a different life form as they live in the same environment. I personally think that they are just a different type of animal. We could say any animal are alien because they are not the same as us but I do not think that this counts. I think that nothing on our home planet is alien. After all extra-terrestrials meaning is something from outside of the Earth or its atmosphere, not things on Earth.
This is my opinion that anything on the Earth does not count as alien.
Accomplished_reality, when you mentioned in your last paragraph that "nothing on Earth counts as aliens", then would we be counted as aliens after we settle on our new planet?
27 Nov 2019
No we’re not the only ones in the universe because it’s more to explore the universe.

Interesting question.
We may be the only life-form in the universe because:
The planets we have already discovered have no traces of life.
We do not know what we will discover next, so it is not a certainty of life on them.
All the rest of the planets in our solar system are not habitable, meaning that there could be mirrored planets to those in our solar system that are not habitable.
We may not be the only life form in the universe because:
We have not fully discovered these planets yet.
We have not discovered many planets; some may have life on.
If there are mirrored planets, there could be another earth.
There are roughly 4000 exo-planets in our solar system alone; there are many more to discover. There may be life on an exo-planet.
Therefore, I found it tough to end with a final answer due to the strong points on either side of the argument.
However, I came to the conclusion that we are not the only life forms in the universe.

The source that is based on a film but there is a lot of logic in what they say :

I think that aliens exist. This is because it's strange if we believe that we are the one and only life form in this universe.

I like what happy_politics said. It is true that there may not be other life but if we are a life form then it is possible that there could be others.
For example, other life form may not be like us . They may live under conditions we don't.
28 Nov 2019
I think there are other life forms out there because if you think about it there are other galaxys and they say there are 300 more planets so there could be life forms in every galaxy or even every planet or even stars.
Just backing your point up but there are about 300 different galaxies never mind planets! I do think that there is alien life and that there are so many more planets that we can imagine. It is simply impossible to imagine them all!
I agree 100% with that it is simply impossible to imagine them all.
28 Nov 2019
I don't think were the only life on the universe because on Mars they have found water and people say where water is there is life. If there is life on the Moon it would be microscopic ( Which means tiny, so you have to look at it through a telescope.) I don't think this means aliens but prove me wrong.
28 Nov 2019
I think there is something living in the Solar System and I also think there is something else like a creature that astronauts haven't yet discovered it, maybe it is hiding on one of the Planets or maybe it has a powerfull ability that camaflages but maybe I am wrong, maybe there is nothing in the Milky Way and there is no alien, no fasinating creature but I could also be right but no one knows because it depends on what the future holds and if astronauts discover it.

I want an alien friend!!!!! 😭🥺

I loved your post
Firstly,as it made me think and question if there was or is living things in the universe. And Secondly,I before this I thought that there was no way there could be living things in the universe because I had never thought about the universe in that way and I had never thought of that question to really make me think about it.So I thought about Mars the possible substitute for our Earth and thought "If there were water beneath Mars' surface who used it?"and that question left me thinking a lot about how someone or something used it or what they used it for.
So to conclude I think there could possibly be living things for something or someone living there but should be further investigating.
A sceptical outlook, methodical_ocean. Can you do some investigating and let us know what you find out?
02 Dec 2019
I really don't know if there are any other forms of life out there but, there definately possibilities. As you should know the universe is endless and so there could be anything anywhere from tiny insects to 1000ft tall aliens.
23 Nov 2020
I believe that we aren't alone because there have been signs of there being other life, like Area 51, and every star is a miniature sun and there are planets that orbit those stars so all it would take is for a planet to be the right distance away and you would have life . So I believe there is life out there.
