When would you recommend each type of journalism?

Thinking-Question.jpg

Audio journalism is news you use your ears to explore - such as the radio, or podcasts.

Visual journalism is news you use your eyes to explore - such as newspapers or online articles.

Our first Thinking Question is...

When would you recommend each type of journalism?

You can structure your answer like this:

"I would recommend that people use audio journalism when..."

"I would recommend that people use visual journalism when..."

You can refer to particular news stories, or kinds of stories more generally. Or anything else!

I would recommend using audio journalism while driving the car. Driving a car needs a lot of concentration, and when there are important events happening in a country this summons the person to keep on track with these events, so the best way to keep on track is using the radio in a car ( audio journalism) and listen to the news there.
As an another idea for using audio journalism is using while working, so that a person does two works at once ( working and listening to news ) of course this work has not to be risky so that listening would lead to the lost of concentration. But in general listening to news while working could be useful.
Otherwise, visual journalism can be used while the person is sitting in a general place where there is a lot of noises that disturbs the audio journalism, at that time visual one could be so useful.
As an another idea for visual journalism is using it while drinking coffee at the morning, and this is a hobby for some people who are interested in reading, as that time also visual journalism is so recommended.

According to my opinion amazing_ reflection when we want to read or listen the news we should use visual journalism because when we read the news in the newspaper, we get many benefits from it as compared to audio journalism. But while driving the car I recommend audio journalism because while driving the we concentrate on driving so we we can not use visual journalism .Like if we read the news in the newspaper or even we watch the video we need pictures about the incident or any accident by which we Cleary understand and we use some text like name of place and person etc., that is hard to listen so we use text or any other type of text related to the news. With this habit, it will not only enhance your knowledge about general information but it will likewise improve your language skills and vocabulary. But while driving the car I recommend audio journalism because while driving the car we concentrate on driving so we we can not use visual journalism.

You mentioned driving here, mindful_raisin. In the UK it is illegal to drive whilst talking to someone on the phone - do you think listening to the news is different? Why/why not?

I would recommend people to use audio journalism before sleeping, as they search for online articles intead of ruining their sleep hormone levels and smarting their eyes it's better to relax their visual senses and rely on sound to explore the news, relax and have a better sleep. As well as for those who have a weak vision and wear glasses it's better to listen to news that reading or scrolling the blue screen.
On the other hand, i would recommend people to rely on visual journalism especially youth to practice their reading, and the old ones to strengthen their concentration. Another idea for using visual journalism is for those having stress so they relieve it by reading slowly, and somhow meditating in good news.

I think you should be specific about the visual Journalism because not all of them are read and are sure that it is a good idea to read news articles because, from my point of view, some news topics might be triggering your stress more?
I agree with you when you said that reading strengthens your concentration because you will never want to miss the line you are reading or skip it.

I would recommend that people use audio journalism while being busy. For example if a person is working out in a gym the best way to keep in contact with news is listening to everything just by putting their earphones. Also, if a student was studying and can’t focus on both learning and listening to news they can depend in audio journalism to have information about everything new. Depending on audio journalism doesn’t mean neglecting visual journalism. To be more exact, there are lots of people who are deaf but having visual journalism has helped them a lot. Because you can see on TV a person who is specific for those people. So all people have the same opportunity to get any news.

I recommend the use of audio journalism for exceptional cases such as the blind and visually impaired who cannot see in visual and written means, while I recommend the visual press when a person finds that he is unable to listen, such as the hard of hearing, they must see the display screen and see the sign language performer so that the news reaches him in a way true and correct..

Fabulous reasoning aware_painting. Can you think of any other instances where listening to audio journalism may be beneficial?

I recommend that people use audio journalism the majority of the time because it is easier and much less taxing especially for your eyes as too much screens is bad, though visual journalism is useful for sharing facts and stats because then you can look back at the important facts if they are important also it is easier to skim through so I'd recommend visual journalism for when it is more important and audio journalism when you don't need all the facts as much and on point especially if you need to find them again 'cause then you'd have to re-play the audio to find it again.
I personally prefer audio journalism because it doesn't require as much of your attention.

I like your explanation amusing_attitude. Do you think you could break down the the different forms of visual journalism and how effective they are at sharing facts and statistics? How do the different forms compare to each other?

I would recommend using audio journalism when doing exercise because you need a lot of motivation and keen to stay on track at point and when problem are happening around the world It challenge the person to be more keen to stay on track on hearing the news and doing the workout.

for another recommended idea for using audio journalism is when your having your breakfast because the only thing that you do is think, but if you watch or hear anything it takes you away from focusing on something and for that your attracted to it.

I would recommend audio journalism while your in a car, cooking, meditating, sleeping, exercising.
    Car:
When you are in a car, you cannot watch or see visual journalism as you have to focus on the road however some people like to also listen to news, podcasts and music while driving as it is more interesting than driving in silence.
    Cooking:
When you are cooking, you have to focus on the food that you are preparing/cooking. Visual journalism will distract you from the food, however when you listen to audio journalism, you can focus on the task but also listen to music, news, etc.
    Meditating:
When you have had a stressful day at school or work, sometimes the best thing to do is meditate. However to some people this may seem boring/awkward. By turning on the radio, listening to music, it distracts you from other noise and lets you focus on relaxing.
    Sleeping:
Some people cannot fall asleep to silence so they could turn on relaxing music, white noise, etc. This could help them get a full 9 hours of sleep and go to school or work fully awake.
    Exercising:
When people exercise (especially at home), it can be awkward as the only sound you can hear is metal scraping against the floor. A great option for exercising is music! However some people way prefer watching a film while exercising.
I would probably use audio journalism the most in the car as cars have adapted to include radios (audio journalism).

These are some great situations to listen to audio journalism. Do you think there is a risk of being distracted from the news by these other tasks?

I recommend using audio journalism when you want something to stay with you longer. When i see images they don't often stay with me but words create more of an impact then any visuals. I love the fact you can be anywhere with sound and remember it to a certain memory or location. I know some news stories and even songs that tie to a special place with me and that is all from the audio significance.

I would recommend that people use visual journalism when they are at home watching the news on TV, a mobile phone/ipad/tablet or a newspaper. I would recommend that people use audio journalism when they are in the car or listening to music if there going on a walk/run or going somewhere in a car.
