Wall in Sicily

Sicily is a big region located in the south of Italy and it’s very near to the North of Africa.

As you know, actually Africa is involved in an internal conflict which causes destruction, dead and famine.

At first Italy received immigrants, but since two months, the government decided to close the walls.

Is this the correct thing to do? I don’t think so.

The government closed the walls because it doesn’t want to let all immigrants to live in Italy but that’s not a good reason to reject them! We’ve to make agreements with the other countries so we can receive all of them.

What you think about this?

I agree with your opinion. I think that the migrants can't be rejected by government.

I don't think that it is that simple. Because Italy is the first country that migrants come to, they have an obligation to care for these migrants; to clothe and feed and educate them. This places a huge burden on a relatively small part of the country. It's a bit like 200 new children arriving in your class and your teacher has to make sure that they are ok and make sure they learn as well as trying to do what they were doing before they arrived. It makes it really difficult.
I think there should be a global responsibility for migrants so that it does not fall just to one country, who can struggle to cope with the financial costs and the resources needed. I don't think it was right to close the borders but I can understand why the country felt so overwhelmed.
