can there be a victomless crime

a victemless crime not likely to happen becuase even tresspassing effects the person who land is being tresspassed on propety. even stealing is victemless crime even if you dont touch them in a phisical way but stealing is taking something that dosent belong to you it is still afecting someone.

ofcorse there are crimes which affect people to their face such as murder. but if you poisen someones food and they dont eat it it would be classed as attemted murder as no one dies but you could still be sent to a sentance in prison.

I worked with terrific_leopard to think about the idea of a victim less crime. To start with we both thought that yes-victim less crime did exist. We came up with an example of someone stealing a loaf of bread. In that situation, nobody got hurt physically.

However, we then discussed what a victim less actually is.Is it just someone who is physically injured by a crime? Or can it somebody who is damaged emotionally or even financially? We came up with the following definition:
A victim less crime is where no one is affected by what just happened except the perpetrator who could be having second thoughts about what he just did.

We tried to think about what sort of crime this could be and we really struggled. We tried the idea of grafting a bus stop but then we realized that somebody-probably the council- would have to pay to clean it up.

So what do you think? Did any one else think of a victim less crime?

This is brilliant and I like how you and terrific_leopard have showed how you came to your conclusion. By giving examples and then interrogating yourselves you have really pushed yourselves to think critically. Definitions are a great way to explore a concept too, and its then great to question what you have come up with. Well done!
