Violent crime


A violent crime is when someone physically hurts or threatens to hurt someone, and also includes crimes where a weapon is used. The police will record a crime as violent if it is clearly inteded.

some of these are:

  • gun and knife crime
  • sexual violence
  • alcohol and drug-related violence
  • gang violence
  • domestic violence
  • hate crimes
  • robbery
  • murder or manslaughter


Gangs have a long history. officials had come to regard gang members in general are serious criminals who engaged in the illegal trafficking of drugs or weapons and used intimidation tactics and violence to pursue their goals. They carry around lethal weapons such as knives and guns.Gangs usually start when a adult/teen in influenced or forced into a gang. They deal with drugs, weapons and people.


The number of homicides including murder and manslaughter rose from 649 to 739, an increase of 14%, in the 12 months to the end of September 2018. On homicide, statisticians said the increase continues an upward trend that has been seen since March 2014, indicating a change to the long-term decrease over the previous decade.
