Why are young people joining gangs?

I think that young people are joining a gang so if the gang attacked them they would have to join the gang so they are not hurt and they might want money so the young people have to kill someone to get payed. Why do you think young people want to join a gang.

i think that young people are joining gangs so they have less chance of being physically hurt and threatened and that they may get bribed to join .

I think that young people might join gangs because they think that they will not have a big punishment because of their age.

That is true , because if you're in a small age - maybe 7-9 , and you're in a gang , we wont get big tortures because we don't understand a lot of stuff but if we are in a gang maybe about 13-19 , we WILL get big tortures because we DO understand a lot of stuff .

It could be due to peer pressure.

To begin with, I think there are many reasons why young people join a gang:
• Peer pressure, as Humorous_solution suggested
• Being forced to join
• Perhaps they are doing it because the gang threatened them
Surprisingly, Violent crime from children has risen In England and Wales, by about 11% in 2018-2019. This means more children are joining gangs in these two countries.

I think it's because people might think its a good idea because maybe one or all of their friends are in a gang so they want to be in one.
