Earth Day : How can we help?

Ever since the Industrial Revolution our Earth has been downspiralling in it’s health. The CO2 levels in our atmosphere have risen by 50% since 1750 which means that it is now 150% of what it was since the 18th century. CO2 is produced by the burning of fossil fuels, but what is fossil fuels?Fossil fuels are non-renewable energy sources, when they run out they won’t come back.Society is heavily dependent on nonrenewable resources. It's estimated that about 80% of the world's energy uses fossil fuels. Not only does this put a strain on the available supply, but it also has a major impact on the environment. Burning fossil fuels releases carbon dioxide, which leads to climate change.
Climate change is the single biggest health threat facing humanity. Climate impacts are already harming health, through air pollution, disease, extreme weather events, forced displacement, increased hunger and poor nutrition in places where people cannot grow or find sufficient food.Climate change and Global warming goes hand in hand and with the Earth warming up, the ice caps are melting which are raising sea-levels and making different animals loose their habitat and hunting grounds. While the Earth is dying, companies aren’t stopping their harm to the planet to gain more materials to sell. For example the Willow Project. The Willow project is a project to harvest more oil from the earth which will release an additional 9.2 million metric tons of carbon pollution into the atmosphere each year.
I believe that the Earth shouldn’t go through something like this just for a company’s personal gain.Animals are dying. There are only 22,000 polar bears left in the wild and its predicted that by the year 2100 all of them will go completely extinct.I have no doubt that if we keep on destroying our planet at this rate, that humanity will find themselves suffering even more.Only 27% of Americans are anxious about climate change.
We can fix our planet by introducing tougher laws and promoting less use of Non-renewable energy.
Instead we can use solar energy and wind energy, they are cheap, renewable and better for the environment. The sun and the wind will never run out as it will always be there. We can also use biodegradable plastic to help our oceans.
What do you think? How can we help our planet to be a better place?
