Double Vision

Ever since the first civilizations appeared, great business owners have influenced politics. Despite this, I believe businesses and politics are two different domains, wich should not be way too interconected.
- Why do I say this? Well, let’s take a look at what the two things are. Politics is all about managing a country, city, settlement, etc, and doing all you can to improve the welfare of the citizens. Politics is about taking care of all aspects of your society, all of it’s values and all of it’s principles. Politics is about creating a better place for future generations. That is what a leader should do. On the other hand, business, while also about managing and leading a group of peole, is usually for the sole purpose of making money, many times making use of the people to do this.
- Why are business and politics not such an awesome combination? Here on the platform, there was a topic about countries behaving badly. If, say, a country A invaded country B, businesses will certainly try to use this opportunity to sign great contracts with the governments of the respective countries. Always, during times of crisis, opportunities appear for some people. This is true ever since the First World War and before it. For example, during the Great War, there were car manufacturers such as Renault, who made ABSOLUTELY HUGE profits from signing contracts with the government. Here we can also add Porsche, BMW, Skoda, etc. That is how many of today’s great automobile businesses took off: they developed and thrived during wartime, a time when many people were struggling for their very own existence. And not just automobile business work well during wartime. Most great businesses enjoyed great attention from the governments, and it is their owners who made the huge profits. This is why I say BUSINESS AND POLITICS ARE NOT THE SAME.
- However, not all businesses seek solely profit. Theese days, more and more businesses are also contributing to then welfare of the citizens. Big businesses also have great influence over the prople, and if the business chooses to speak out in a just manner, they have massive influence in rallying the people and uniting them under the country’s goal and vision.
- As such, the two fields might be similar, but their purposes are different. As a result, I do not believe businesses and politics are a perfect combination.
