Who should have the most say in how aid is used: the countries giving the aid or the communities receiving it?

There is a question people are asking: who should have the most say in how aid is used – the countries giving it or the countries receiving it? Please remember that this is my opinion only, but I think that the decision depends on the circumstances, such as if it is a life-or-death situation as this will impact who has the say. For example, a patient is able to decide if they want treatment when in hospital, but if it is fatal, they would just need emergency treatment quickly without waiting or making a decision. In this instance, the decision is made for them.

I think it also depends on how much someone knows about aid, otherwise you could just be accepting anything. Some people, like courteous_nectarine would not agree with me but I personally would not want help from the UK at the moment because although they help overseas, they have been cutting their services at home and spending money elsewhere, so they may not be providing the best aid. In this example, it is important that the community has a say rather than the country giving aid.

In conclusion, it is really important to know where your aid comes from just in case there has been corruption, therefore it depends on the situation as to who should get the say.
