If all ages are influenced by misinformation, should there be any age limits on voting?

Lowering the voting age - Standpoint image 1

I believe there should not be an age limit for voting. I think so because some 10-12-year-olds can be more mature than some teenagers. By mature, I mean they wouldn’t vote off some silly TikTok trend, or any video from any social media platforms. Most 10-12-year olds like influencers like The LaBrant Family, Lilliana Ketchman, and Everleigh Rose who focus more on comedy and/or dancing, but not on things like lifestyle and advice, like the age group 18+ usually watches.

I believe most teenagers just want to hang out with their friends and party all day, all night, and all the time, while 10-12 year olds may have casual parties or get-togethers with friends every once in a while. This connects to maturity within voting because if they are under the influence of anyone, they would probably only vote for a candidate because of someone not wanting to be their friend anymore if they voted for the opposing candidate or voting for popularity.

Someone who disagrees might think there should be an age limit because kids may think it’s a thing to joke about or play. However, I think my argument is stronger because, as a 10-year-old, I believe I am very mature. I don’t need anyone to tell me to do something I already know I need to do. Kids can be more mature than teenagers since children have less on their minds. For example, older people may have bills, planned events, or problems with family or friends on their minds, while children may only have things like excitement for future events on their minds.

In conclusion, because 10-12-year-olds can sometimes be more mature than teenagers, I believe there shouldn’t be an age limit for voting. Instead, there should be some kind of maturity test of some sort to check if they are ready enough to take the voting experience seriously. The answers to the questions could be what the more mature thing to do would be in different political scenarios.
