If all ages are influenced by misinformation, should there be any age limits on voting?

Should voting be based on age, or knowledge?

From my point of view, I believe that there should not be an age for you to vote. Instead, I believe that there should be a test to determine if you can vote for the election or not. There used to be a test to prevent past slaves from voting, but this is a whole different reason! There are many uninformed people who still vote for candidates that have intentions against them.

First, I wanted to choose this topic to raise awareness on how important it is to be educated when it comes to voting. I believe that there should be an age requirement for voting and a test to determine if you qualify to vote. I believe that the new age limit should be fifteen. When you are fifteen, you will be given a test to determine if you can vote that year or not. The age of fifteen is also when a lot of kids start high school, so I believe this age will be fitting. The test will have topics such as American History and the history of voting. The reason I chose this limit is that younger kids can be influenced or bribed by their parents and not choose their own opinions.

Furthermore, just because a person is older does not determine if they are educated or not. Assuming that teenage voting will mess up voting is completely stereotypical! Being older doesn't automatically mean you're more knowledgeable because a 40-year-old might fail the test, and a 15-year-old might pass it. Think of it this way, teenage voting can open up a new perspective and era of voting.

In conclusion, I believe that there should be an age limit for voting, and a test should be added. Age does not define knowledge, and being older doesn't automatically mean you're more knowledgeable. What do you think? Should there be an age limit for voting?
