If all ages are influenced by misinformation, should there be any age limits on voting?

Lowering the voting age - Standpoint image 3

Misinformation affects everyone, not just young peaple.Age limits exist mainly to ensure a basic level of maturity, but better education and media literacy matter more than strict age rules.

Voting rights and legal responsabilities are connected but not perfectly aligned. If 16 years old can work, pay taxes, and make important decisions,it makes sense to let them vote too.If peaple are enough mature to vote they aren't going to be inflenced by misinformation,it coulb be a risk to let minors vote, because the majority of them aren't able to vote correctly, but I think it's right to give it a try, because the teenagers of today are going to be the adults of tomorrow, and, letting them vote earlier cna help them to vote in a better way in the future and make the world a better place. It could improve democracy by including more young voices and encouraging early political engagement.

Campaigns would also change, with more focus on youth issues and social media.Misinformation affects young adults.Social media, partisans media ecosystem and even traditional news outlets expose everyone to distorted or false narratives.

Therefore, using susceptibility to misinformation as criterion to restrictvoting would logically apply to all voters.
