Should voting rights match a person’s legal responsibilities?

Lowering the voting age is an important issue because it raises questions about fairness and responsibility. Teenagers today can work jobs, pay taxes, and are expected to follow the law just like adults. Yet, many of the decisions that affect their live ,about schooland the economy, or the environment ,are made without their input. If society trusts them to handle these responsibilities, it seems reasonable that they should also have a voice in choosing the leaders and shaping the policies that impact their future.

The principle of 'no taxation without representation,which comes from the American Revolution, highlights this idea. People who contribute to society and are subject to its laws should have the right to participate in decisions about how that society is run. Allowing young people to vote earlier could also encourage civic engagement, helping them grow into informed and responsible citizens who are invested in their communities and their country.

Of course, some argue that voting requires maturity and life experience, and not every teenager is ready to make such important decisions. While this is a valid concern, I believe that if young people are entrusted with responsibilities like working, paying taxes, and obeying the law, they should also be trusted with the right to vote. not just about age it is about fairness, representation, and recognizing the role young people already play in society.
