Would giving 16-year-olds the vote improve democracy or just change the way campaigns are run?

Lowering the voting age - Standpoint image

Campaigns normally are set like this: Planning, funding, execution, and optimization. Though, if 16 year olds were given the right to vote, this could change drastically. I think that 16 year olds voting, despite many thinking otherwise, would change how campaigns are ran. I believe this because candidates may not see 16 year olds as regular voters, and because campaigns may change to be a lot more on social media.

First, candidates may not see 16 year olds as normal voters because they're younger. That they change how they think, and candidates may try to manipulate their easily tricked young minds with more empty promises. This leads to many bad candidates being chosen for president, since if 16 year olds were to vote, there would be a lot of them, and a lot of them would be tricked. In short, candidates may see 16 year olds as empty minds that will get hooked to anything they say.

Also, campaigns may be executed a lot more on social media because of 16 year olds' high usage of it. Many teenagers of the age use social media, and are easily influenced by whatever they see or hear online. If candidates were to do this, this would already cause them to get a lot of voters, like the 16 year olds, easily interested in them. Seeing an ad of the campaigner, or a big content creator providing their input on the candidate would be very common, and if the creator agrees they should vote for the candidate, it will give them more voters.

In conclusion, 16 year olds being given the right to vote would severely change how campaigns are ran because candidates will not see 16 year olds as the average voter, and because social media will be the go to platform to campaign on because of the large usage of it for 16 year olds. This big change, if 16 year olds were to vote, will make a new era of campaigns and voting either way, for better, or for worse.
