Lowering the voting age - Standpoint image

From my point of view, I think that giving 16-year-olds the right to vote, would make just to change how the campaigns run.

The first example that support my opinion would be the case of Malta. Although there have been only 8 years from the implementation of the rule to nowdays, both of the presidents who have been elected, as the one who decide the rule, are from the labour party. This rule is being helpful for the labour party, but is not the most helpful one because in the last 4 elections, labour party leaders where chosen, and before this most of the selected presidents where from the same party as the named before.

Another example would be Spain. They are thinking on implementing a law in which 16-year-olds can take part in the elections. In a first instance, it wouldn't affect much the results obtain from previous campaigns. In contrast I think that in a future this law could be crucial for the final choice. This due to the massive young voters who can choice decisions, sometimes in the correct way, other manipulated or influenciated by the local people or by the social media. This wouldn't affect the older people because the most of the times they want the best for their countries.

One person who disgrees with me would be lively_philosophy, who in the question in which 16 and 17 years old people might vote, he answer that it would help in choicing better decisions, making a better structure of politics and win a right of freedom of speech. I think my argument is stronger because young people dosen't have well developed some of the brains cortex, can be manipulated by friends or even familiars and can be manipulated by social media. I think that sometimes they don't want the best for the country and they want the best for themselves.

In conclusion, I wouldn't support the idea of giving 16-year-olds the right to vote because it would create unnecessary social media wars. It is also unnecessary because some young people aren't aware of the last news
