Would giving 16-year-olds the vote improve democracy or just change the way campaigns are run?

Lowering the voting age - Standpoint image 1

I think that lowering the voting age might change the way campaigns are run because 16 year-old people spend a lot of time on social media,so I think that politicians or people who sustain a certain idea, might try convincing younger people to vote for these ideas.

I'm convinced that this could be a situation that might happen if teenagers could vote because as a teenager I noticed that we don't understand a 100% the topic of voting and we're very influenced by what others say, also because we don't have enough political knowledge to choose what to vote for.

So I think we just need more time to understand how politic works and to study how a content should be analysed, to understand if the other person or the content we are reading on social media has the goal to give information or to influence us.

Others might think giving 16 years-olds the right to vote could encourage them to develop a lifelong habit of civic partecipation.

However I think that the voting age should match the age of majority which is 18.

18 is still a young age but I think it's the right age to vote because people at that age have more experience in the working world and more independence.
