Would giving 16-year-olds the vote improve democracy or just change the way campaigns are run?

Lowering the voting age - Standpoint image

lets start this topic by imagining that you are at 16.

at 16 you can drive and work, but not vote. Is that fair or are teens just not ready for that yet. it is wild that the government takes tax money from a 16 year olds paycheck but wont let them vote on how to spend it. it is a double standard to say they are adult enough to pay but too young to have an opinion. voting at 16 while you are still in school makes it a habit for life, if we wait until 18 when life gets messy with moving or college, people often skip it and never start. your brain is still growing at 16 and isnt fully wired for big decisions yet, if we dont trust 16 year olds to buy a beer or get a tattoo, why would we let them pick a president? elections shouldnt be a tiktok challenge. There is a fear teens would just vote for whoever has the best memes or whatever an influencer says turning a serious vote into a popularity contest.

if someone says teens arent mature, say plenty of adults vote based on memes too, and teens are literally studying politics in school right now.

thats it for now... thank you for reading topical talk and topical talkers.
