Do international alliances always make the world safer, or can they sometimes lead to more tension?

From my perspective, I think that international alliances sometimes lead to more tension. Alliances can sometimes cause wars, conflict, and hatred. Sometimes these problems happen because countries misunderstand each other.
To begin with, allies can cause wars. When they misunderstand something, they may cause or declare war on one of their allies. Imagine being allies with another country, and from the bad rumors or bad misinformation you’ve heard, you would most likely turn on your ally. When you turn on your ally, you would probably declare war on them. They would be affected, and that could lead to hatred and conflict between you and your ally.
Moreover, allies can develop hatred between each other. For example, in our lesson, we discovered that in January 2026, the US President, Donald Trump, was interviewed. In the interview, he completely ignored the NATO members helping to fight a war in Afghanistan, and he said that America was always fighting. The NATO members were offended because they were also fighting in the war and their soldiers had died. This led to disagreements between the NATO members and Trump. Problems like these may lead to more conflicts in the future.
In conclusion, this is why I think that international alliances can sometimes cause more tension. They can solve problems, but they will sometimes cause more problems.
