Do international alliances always make the world safer, or can they sometimes lead to more tension?

I think having many alliances gives me an advantage over other countries that are not in my alliance because having many allies makes me feel more comfortabl, stronger and defensive. I also think this because enemy forces will not have the audacity to even try to step foot into my country, as if they do, my allies will make them flee. Finally,I think that having more allies will profit me because if an enemy attacks my country, the larger amount of allies I have, the quicker the 'Invasion' will last because my allies and my army will win as we will be more in number.

Some people may disagree with me because they could think that if they are beaten by my allies and me, they could magpie me and build an alliance of their own. This could lead to a 'neverending' war. But I think my argument is stronger than theirs because to be allies, you must know that they are trustworthy and you know them. So the chances of the enemy befriendping a random country is very ,very slim.

So, in Conclusion, I think that it is better to have an allianc instead of just your country as an individual as like it said in the bible, Two cords are better than one.
