Do international alliances always make the world safer, or can they sometimes lead to more tension?

Is it safer to have multiple allies? I think it is safer to have few reliable allys.
The first example to support my opinion is, alliances act as force multipliers allowing nations to pool their resources and share risks and enhance defence capabilities through shared intelligence and mutual support .
NATO might be destroyed by president Donald Trump who is attempting to buy Greenland ,which belongs to Denmark, a NATO ally.
Some people may say to stay neutral but powerful.
Leaders might think you are weak and invade you.
This is my opinion based on facts from reliable sources .
