Do international alliances always make the world safer, or can they sometimes lead to more tension?

My opinion on the big question
I think international alliances help make the world safer in some points, such as providing aid to help support other countries and helping each other out economically by importing each other's products into one another, which would help grow the economy of each country, such as NATO, where each country send help and support to other country members in the group inorder to help them example Ukraine and America when american provided technology and military equipments to ukraine for the war
Who disagrees with me?
Some people might say that countries would have to follow a certain rule, which would make them have a low advantage and make other big countries, such as America, France,w and European countries, have the upper hand and could take advantage of other countries
Facts and evidence supporting my claim
Example 1: During the Turkiye and Syria earthquake in 2023, NATO allies provided over 2000 personnel, field hospitals, and specialized equipment
Example 2: during the covid 19 pandemic, countries such as Germany, romania and netherlands helped NATO transport tons of medical equipment from China and other countries when supply chains/business or organizations went bankrupt or fell down
