Is it safer for a country to have many different allies or to rely on one very powerful relationship?

I think it is better to have allot of ally's instead of just one powerfull relationship because if one of your allies want to be allies with someone else then you still have allot of allies that can protect you.If I only had one ally and they're not helping me I would want to change and go somewhere else but if no one wants me my country is going to be at risk . Another reason is because if another country is trying to attack me and they onl have one ally and I have allot it wold be easier for me and my allies to fight and win because they would only have one.

Someone who disagrees with me would say If you only have one ally then you can gain their trust and it would be less likely that they would leave you for someone else.However I think that they are wrong because they could be pretending to be your ally just for protection and when they find someone they could backstab you and you would be at risk.
