Is it safer for a country to have many different allies or to rely on one very powerful relationship?

I think it is better to have one very powerful allies than lots of allies because if you go to war, your alliance won't lose lots of lots of troops. Also if you have one big powerful allie, that might make other countries not fight your alliance, and if you are in trouble, it will be easier to call for help since you don't have to ask lots of country's. If someone thinks having more allies is better I'll tell you why it's not. Having one big allie is better than lots of small allies.
In summary one big allie is better than lots of allies.
