Is it safer for a country to have many different allies or to rely on one very powerful relationship?

Well, first of all I think that the question is very intresting because the two options are quite good and respectable, if you are a country choosing them, both of the options are extremely good and I think that all countries should have a relationship or an alliance with other countries. Anyways, I would prefer having different allies than to rely on one very power relationship with other country, and the reasons why I think so are the next:

First, belongin to just one strong relationship its a decision quite risky because you, as a country, are betting everything on a single option. It is very dangerous, what if that strong relationship betrays you, whether behind your back or not. Having many different allies also offers this option, but I think is less likely that all the countries of the alliance turn against you. I would prefer relying on various allies than just one for this reason.

Another reason why I support my opinion is the fact that having and relying in more allies is a safer option because if you are part of a strong and diverse alliance you know you´ll definitely get a better help when your country has problems, wheter if it´s because another country has threatened you of starting a war or directly you are involved in one. Being part of a strong but single relationship is also going to give you this option but since it´s only with one country, it isn´t efficient, or perhaps that country is having problems at that moment and it can´t help you. This can also happen when you´are part of and alliance, but since there are more countries involved with you, it´s less likely that none of them will be able to send aid.

As an addition being part of an alliance will lessen the threaths from other countries as you have more backup. And even though by choosing this option you loose some independence, a country can´t be fully self-sufficient. If you have allies you know that for sure you´ll have the help and the necessary things from other countries when you need them.

Finally I think that idependence sounds very appealing, not having to consult other leaders when making decisons is something that gives you a lot of freedom at the time you need to take action or to be responsible. However, I think you´are more susceptible to attacks by choosing to have a relationship with just one country.

These are my ideas, opinions and facts why I support and I think that having many different allies is the better option.
