Is it safer for a country to have many different allies or to rely on one very powerful relationship?

Would you rather 10 average friends or 1 loyal best friend? In my point of view, I’d choose one loyal best friend. However, 10 friends could be more helpful.
The first example that supports my opinion is about the U.S and Greenland. They soon might destroy NATO which has an impact on many different countries. But if you only had one ally there would be less trouble (maybe none). The U.S is a very powerful country and would be a good country to rely on. But due to all the wars, it could be a really bad option to rely on.
However, some may disagree because if you have 10 friends, and one can’t come to the shop you would still have 9 others to go with.
In conclusion, to end my stand point in a memorable way, I think it depends on the country's aim because if a country wanted to be neutral it would be better to have one trusted ally.
