Can technology make sports more equal, or does it only widen the gap between competitors?

In my opinion I think that technology makes sports unfair competitors.I say this because people may not have a good paying salary to afford new technology to help their career while other people can.Also there are countries who cant supply the sports teams new technology for competitions like Africa who dont have as much money as other countries.For example Africa cant really supply their track team with advanced cleats to help their runners run faster but America can supply their track team with a lot of advanced cleats to help their track team run faster giving America an advantage.That wouldnt be fair for Africa and other small countries because that gives smaller countries less of a chance to win.If I was on the sports team of a small country and they couldnt afford new gear I would be frustrated.But if people didnt use technology then there would be a even chance for both teams to win.This is why I say that technology widens the gap between competitors.
