Can technology make sports more equal, or does it only widen the gap between competitors?

VAR helps referees see more clearly in football and it helps them decide if it is a penalty, checking goals and giving red/yellow cards to the correct person and to see if they are offside or onside. An Argentinian icon called Maradona used his left hand to score a goal and since there was no VAR it was allowed and it was called the hand of God. VAR can improve fairness in sport as VAR can improve accuracy from 82% to 96%.
Hawk Eye in tennis makes instant decisions and improves accuracy rather than humans. It is used in large tournaments such as the Australian and US open and players like it (from the Independent). Some people say it is also sad because it runs the tradition of humans calling whether the ball is in or out.
Halo in F1 became mandatory in 2018 and saved many lives. Lewis Hamilton had a crash in the 2025 United States Grand Prix where debris flew right at him but thanks to Halo, it saved him.
Unfortunately, Tech has been used illegally in the 2025 Olympics and by Norwegian skiers.
Sports teams which are more wealthy can access better technology. Teams with more money get provided with better things which means they can access better things to help them win games.
