Can technology make sports more equal, or does it only widen the gap between competitors?

Technology has been used to help people with sports but sadly there have been times when it has been used illegally. Despite this, it can also make sports exciting. But does it make sports more equal or does it widen the gap between competitors?

In many sports, tech has been making games more accurate. An example is VAR which has improved accuracy from 82 percent to 96 percent making football more fun and fairer. VAR helps make football fairer because it can see things better than the referee.

The Halo in F1 became mandatory in 2018 after the death of Henry Surtees in 2009. The halo protects the driver’s head from injury so it is a really important piece of equipment. It can save lives and has the strength of a double-decker bus!

Unfortunately, Tech has been used illegally - an example is when the Norwegian ski team cheated which meant that they had an advantage. This is a time when tech has been used unfairly. Also, teams with bigger budgets can purchase tech while other teams with less money can’t access it.

My mum uses tech to check how long she walks or runs every Thursday morning and my dad uses it too as he jogs every morning before he takes me out in his car. The tech is useful for them because it shows if they are exercising properly and whether they need to walk or run more so it helps with their fitness.

In my opinion, even though tech can be good, I think you should not use tech because you need to make the sports more fair and tech can lead to people cheating. Instead of using technology to help with sports, you could just practice.
