Technology can make sports more equal rather than widening the gap between athletes. In my opinion, technological advancements create better conditions and provide more athletes with opportunities to improve their performance.
One important way technology promotes equality is bthrough better accesss to training knowledge. In the past, few athletes could be allowed high-level training. Today, training programs, performance analysis tools and virtual coaching programs are available. This allow athletes from every country to improve and train their skills and compete in higher competitions. As an example, Usain Bolt benefited from modern sports science, but similar knowledge is now shared around the world, not limited for the most benefited countries economically speaking.
Technology also improve fairness during a tournament. Systems , such as the hawk's eye to know if the ball has entered the goal or not, help referees make more accurate decisions. In major tournaments organized by FIFA, VAR technology reduces human mistakes and ensures that referee decisions are well made or not. This increases fairness for all teams.
In addition, improvements in equipment are regulated to ensure that any athlete has an advantage to win. For example, to avoid that people use equipments with advantages, controls are made before competition.
In conclusion, although technology can create differences if is it not controlled, overall it has the potential to make sports more equal. By spreading knowledge, improving fairness making decisions, technology helps ensure that success depends mainly on talent and effort rather than unequal conditions.
