Can technology make sports more equal, or does it only widen the gap between competitors?

Is technology really helping, or is it just making a bigger advantage for richer countries and teams?

I think technology can help in sports in many ways like protecting athletes from getting hurt or even worse. For example, before HALO (a technical protection bubble) many F1 drivers were hurt before they introduced this technology, and it is now mandatory for F1 drivers to use it. Even though technology can help people's safety it can also make an uneven gap between richer and poorer teams, but this form of technology is great for protection and doesn't form an uneven gap.

However, technology can also be used for identification such as in football they now use VAR (video assistant referee) this helps assist the referee telling if a penalty is correct or if a goal is a goal. It also checks if a red card is correct or if a yellow card is correct. Ever since VAR has been added the accuracy has improved from 82% to 96% making football fairer.

During the 2025 winter Olympics a skiing team added a type of technology into their skiing suit. Later the team coach and the player were suspended. They later agreed with the suspension saying they shouldn't have tried to cheat. Personally, I think that this was a great decision to disqualify them and that it was amazing knowing the understanding of the team.

In another sport they have changed humans to a form of technology. This technology is called hawk-eye and it is used in tennis. Hawk-eye is a form of technology that is used for improving the human eye. Many players have said that they like this new form of technology as it improves accuracy and makes it easier to make the correct decision.

I also enjoy going to online yoga with my friend. I'm saying this because I believe that using technology in day-to-day activities is a great way to help people feel better and not have to pay thousands to enjoy a sport or be active. Giving a great experience for people who can't spend so much money but it can also help professionals when they go on holiday helping them keep their active life even though on holiday.
