Can technology make sports more equal, or does it only widen the gap between competitors?

Lots of technology can change many sports so our question is, does the new tech make things more equal or unfair? You’ll find out.
In football a new type of technology called VAR (video assistant referee) was introduced to the public in 2016 and was first used in 2018. The VAR has improved game play from 82% to 96% over a few years. It has helped many games with: (1) checking goals, (2) checking if red or yellow cards were given to the right people, (3) double checking if the red cards were a faulty or not and (4) penalties
Next the Hawk-eye in tennis is a computer system, which is similar to the VAR in football, that helps to track the ball trajectory and help see the accuracy. The Hawk-eye has been around since 2001. Big tournaments (Australia and the USA) adopted this system in 2025. The Hawk-eye replaces human line judges.
Another example of tech used in one of most dangerous sports, F1 driving, is the halo which amazingly can withstand the weight of a London double decker bus! It has saved many lives and has proven to reduce the number of injuries happening, too. Before it came out Henry Surtee died in 2009 and Jules Bianchi died in 2014 due to the Halo not existing.
Last but not least we have the 2025 Norwegian Ski Team. In the Norwegian Ski Team Johann Forfang and Marius Lindvik tried cheating by modifying their suit to help them. They ended up placing 4th and 2nd but soon people found out they cheated and their coaches Magnus Brevik and Thomas Lobben also admitted to helping Johann Forfang and Marius Lindvik to modify their suits.
Overall, in my opinion I think tech can make sports fairer and can widen the gap between competitors.
I think it can make sports fairer because it can catch people cheating or when something has been done wrong. It helps build accuracy in sport.
However I think it can make it more unfair because people can use technology to cheat and win in sports without people knowing.
