Does the use of technology make new world records less impressive than those of the past?

The Winter Games - Standpoint image 1

Technology is useful in many sports today, including the Winter Olympics and Paralympic. It can help referees coach the game better and it helps to be more fair and it can help people with or without disabilities so it gives them a chance. But it can also give other richer countries an advantage.

It can help make decisions fairer and help athletes to improve their performance. For example, cameras check if the ball fully crosses the line and this stops unfair goals being given or missed. The technology helps the ski suits get better and it helps the game to become less dangerous and it gives better training support. VAR checks penalties, red cards and goals and athletes use running blades or equipment that helps them to up their game and to be at an elite level. I am for technology because it helps people with disabilities and it can make a really big difference.

However, techonolgy can also make sports less fair for people who do not have much and find it hard to pay, one reason for that is they might want to spend it on things that will improve and keep it safe. But also the piece of technology can back fire and can tell you the wrong fact and it will be a huge disaster. At the winter Games, athletes use aerodynamic suits and specially designed skis, they also have better sports scientists and that gives the other teams a bad chance of winning. Some technology listen to what you say and I think that human skills are better.

This has happened when I saw a team that had better suits and boots while the other team’s wasn’t as good but they still won. Sadly technology listens to what you say, for example, when my mum was talking about boats,a link came on her phone about boats. It does not matter about the equipment, it matters about the skill and performance. There is AI that replays for fans but it is not fair because the fans for the other team don’t get to and that is unfair.

Technology is a good improvment for the future and can be fair, but it can be dangerous and not trustworthy. It helps a lot of peopl with a disability and it is very helpful, I would say yes to technology but only used for important events and not for an advantage. Human skills matters more than technology and we all know that we are naturally talented. Technology is fairer and more expensive but money does not matter, the World does.
